The manual for your VIKING RANGE CTVDR6606I uses a safety alert symbol (an exclamation point inside a triangle) to alert you to hazards that can kill or hurt you. All safety messages are preceded by this symbol and one of three words, which mean the following:

DANGER: Hazards or unsafe practices which WILL result in death or severe personal injury.

WARNING: Hazards or unsafe practices which COULD result in death or severe personal injury.

CAUTION: Hazards or unsafe practices which COULD result in minor personal injury.

If you smell gas, it is critical to follow these instructions exactly to prevent a fire or explosion, which could cause property damage, personal injury, or death.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS:

• DO NOT try to light any appliance.

• DO NOT touch any electrical switch.

• DO NOT use any phone in your building.

• Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions.

• If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.

Installation and service must be performed by a qualified installer, service agency, or the gas supplier.

A GFI shall be used if required by NFPA-70 (National Electric Code), federal/state/local laws, or local ordinances. The manufacturer will NOT warranty any problems resulting from GFI outlets which are not installed properly or do not meet the requirements below. If the use of a GFI is required, it should be:

• Of the receptacle type (breaker type or portable type NOT recommended).

• Used with permanent wiring only (temporary or portable wiring NOT recommended).

• On a dedicated circuit (no other receptacles, switches or loads in the circuit).

• Connected to a standard breaker of appropriate size (GFI breaker of the same size NOT recommended).

• Rated for Class A (5 mA +/- 1 mA trip current) as per UL 943 standard.

• In good condition and free from any loose-fitting gaskets (if applicable in outdoor situations).

• Protected from moisture (water, steam, high humidity) as much as reasonably possible.

To avoid risk of personal injury or death, leak testing of the appliance must be conducted according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Before placing the appliance in operation, always check for gas leaks with a soapy water solution. DO NOT USE AN OPEN FLAME TO CHECK FOR GAS LEAKS.

The following are the specifications for the 66″ W. VIKING RANGE CTVDR6606I:

The VIKING RANGE CTVDR6606I model features 6 surface burners and an induction element. The ratings are as follows:

Burners:

• Left Front: 8,500 Nat/ 7,700 LP

• Left Rear: 20,500 Nat/ 18,500 LP

• Center Front: 13,500 Nat/ 12,500 LP

• Center Rear: 20,500 Nat/ 18,500 LP

• Right Front: 13,500 Nat/ 12,500 LP

• Right Rear: 20,500 Nat/ 18,500 LP

Induction Elements:

• Two induction zones, each rated at 2.5 kW.

To ensure proper and safe installation of your VIKING RANGE CTVDR6606I, adhere to the following clearance dimensions:

• The range may be installed directly adjacent to existing 36″ (91.4 cm) high base cabinets.

• IMPORTANT: The side panel MUST be 3/8″ (0.95 cm) above the adjacent base cabinet countertop. This can be accomplished by raising the unit using the adjustment spindles on the legs.

• The range CANNOT be installed directly adjacent to sidewalls, tall cabinets, tall appliances, or other side vertical surfaces above 36″ (91.4 cm) high. There must be a minimum of 6″ (15.2 cm) side clearance from the range to such combustible surfaces above the 36″ (91.4 cm) counter height.

• Within the 6″ (15.2 cm) side clearance to combustible vertical surfaces, the maximum wall cabinet depth must be 13″ (33.0 cm) and these wall cabinets must be 18″ (45.7 cm) above the 36″ (91.4 cm) high countertop.

• Wall cabinets above the range must be a minimum of 36″ (91.4 cm) above the range cooking surface for the full width of the range. This minimum height does not apply if a range hood is installed over the cooking surface.

• The minimum clearance to the back wall is 0″.

Note: Clearances from non-combustible materials are not part of the ANSI Z21.1 scope and not certified by CSA. Clearances to non-combustible materials must be approved by the authority having jurisdiction.

The bottom of a standard hood should be installed at a height that is safe and allows for efficient operation. Refer to the range hood installation instructions for additional information.

Wall Installation:

• The bottom of the hood should be 30″ (76.2 cm) min. to 36″ (91.4 cm) max. above the countertop.

• This typically results in the bottom of the hood being 66″ (167.6 cm) to 72″ (182.9 cm) above the floor.

Island Installation:

• The bottom of the hood should be 30″ (76.2 cm) min. to 36″ (91.4 cm) max. above the countertop.

• This typically results in the bottom of the hood being 66″ (167.6 cm) to 72″ (182.9 cm) above the floor.

This product is manufactured with the neutral terminal connected to the cabinet. Use a 3-wire, agency approved, power supply kit with closed loop terminals rated per the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70-latest edition. If local codes prohibit grounding through the neutral, use a 4-wire, agency approved, power supply kit.

Specified Rating of Power Supply Cord Kit and Circuit Protection:

*The National Electric Code calculation for Electrical Load is less than the Total Connected Electrical Load listed on the model/serial rating plate.

Gas Connection: The gas supply (service) line must be the same size or greater than the 1/2″ (1.3 cm) ID NPT (Sch40) inlet line of the appliance. Sealant on all pipe joints must be resistive to LP gas. Verify that the model is compatible with your intended gas supply (Natural Gas or LP).

Manual Shut-off Valve: An installer-supplied valve must be installed in the gas service line before the appliance, in a location where it can be reached quickly in an emergency. Any opening behind the range must be sealed. In Massachusetts, a “T” handle type manual valve must be installed.

Pressure Regulator: This range has a built-in regulator that should not be bypassed. Manifold pressure should be checked with a manometer: Natural Gas requires 5.0″ W.C.P. and LP gas requires 10.0″ W.C.P. Incoming line pressure must be 1″ W.C.P. higher than the manifold pressure. The regulator can withstand a maximum input pressure of 1/2″ PSI (14.0″ W.C.P.). The appliance must be disconnected from the gas supply piping system during any pressure testing.

Flexible Connections: If using flexible couplings, the installer must use a heavy-duty AGA design-certified flexible connector of at least 1/2″ (1.3 cm) ID NPT in compliance with ANSI Z21.41 and Z21.69. In Massachusetts, this appliance must be installed with a 36″ (3-foot) long flexible gas connector.

The gas/electrical connection should be made in the area behind the range, within 3-3/4″ (9.5 cm) from the floor.

Legs are packed in the cardboard top pack and should be installed near where the appliance will be used, as they are not secure for long transit.

Step 1. It is strongly recommended to use a pallet or lift jack rather than tilting the range. Raise the unit about a foot.

Step 2. Unscrew the shipping bolts from the couplings on all four corners of the range base.

Step 3. Screw the legs into the couplings on all four corners.

Step 4. Lower the range gently to avoid any undue strain on the legs and internal mounting hardware.

To avoid risk of electrical shock, personal injury or death, verify your appliance has been properly grounded and electrical power is turned off at the breaker box.

Step 1. Remove the access door on the back of the range.

Step 2. Remove the supply cord strain relief bracket and the three supply cord mounting screws on the terminal block.

Step 3. Feed the supply cord up through the hole in the bottom of the range back.

Step 4. Attach the line #1 (red) and line #2 (black) leads to the outside terminals. Attach the neutral wire (white) to the center terminal on the terminal block.

Step 5. Push the supply cord toward the terminal block to relieve strain, then reattach the supply cord strain relief bracket over the supply cord.

Step 6. Reattach the access door.

Use a 4-wire connection where local codes do not permit grounding through the neutral. To avoid risk of electrical shock, personal injury or death, verify your appliance has been properly grounded and electrical power is turned off at the breaker box.

Step 1. Remove the access door on the back of the range.

Step 2. Remove the supply cord strain relief bracket and the three supply cord mounting screws on the terminal block.

Step 3. Remove the grounding screw. Cut-off and discard the ground strap that connects the terminal block to the frame.

Step 4. Feed the supply cord up through the hole in the bottom of the range back.

Step 5. Attach the ground lead (green) from the power cord with the ground screw that was removed in step 3.

Step 6. Attach the line #1 (red) and line #2 (black) leads to the outside terminals. Attach the neutral wire (white) to the center terminal on the terminal block.

Step 7. Push the supply cord toward the terminal block to relieve strain, then reattach the supply cord strain relief bracket over the supply cord.

Step 8. Reattach the access door.

Step 1. Measure the four corners in the cutout area to verify if the flooring is level.

Step 2. For uneven or sloped floors, level the unit with metal shims only, as the required adjustment may exceed the thread available in the legs.

Step 3. Move the unit into the opening.

Step 4. Check that the unit is level side-to-side and front-to-back. The side trim of the lowest corner must be 3/8″ (0.95 cm) above the countertop.

Step 5. If leveling is required, move the unit out of the opening.

Step 6. Lift the unit and prop it on wood blocks.

Step 7. Adjust the legs. Set the high corner of the range so that the top of its side trim is 3/8″ (0.95 cm) above the countertop. Level the rest of the range to this high corner by adjusting the other legs.

The range MUST be installed with an anti-tip device to reduce the risk of tipping. Failure to install the device can result in death or serious burns.

Step 1. Measure from the floor to the bottom of the anti-tip opening located on the back of the range. This is “measurement (A)”.

Step 2. Locate the anti-tip bracket on the rear wall. The top left corner of the bracket should be at a height of “measurement (A)” plus 1/2″ (1.3 cm) from the floor. The bracket should be positioned horizontally at a distance “X” from where the right side of the range (when facing the range) is to be located. The “X” dimension for a 66″ range is 26-1/4″ (66.7 cm).

Step 3. Mark and drill holes where the bracket will be located.

Step 4. Attach the bracket with the mounting hardware provided.

After installation, slide the range into place and look behind it with a flashlight to verify the anti-tip device is properly engaged in the rear bottom left corner of the range.

The floor mount device can be used for all applications except installation on a concrete sub-floor. The range MUST be installed with an anti-tip device to reduce the risk of tipping.

Step 1. Locate the position for the anti-tip bracket hook on the floor. It should be 8-1/2″ (21.6 cm) from the side cabinet and 1-1/2″ (3.8 cm) from the rear wall. Mark and drill 1/8″ (0.32 cm) holes where the bracket will be located.

Step 2. Mount the anti-tip bracket hook to the floor using the screws provided.

Step 3. Attach the corresponding bracket to the back of the range using two screws provided.

Step 4. Slide the range into place and check that the hook and bracket are engaged.

After installation, verify with a flashlight that the anti-tip device is properly engaged.

For final preparation, all stainless steel body parts should be wiped with hot, soapy water and with a liquid cleaner designed for this material. If buildup occurs, DO NOT use steel wool, abrasive cloths, cleansers, or powders. If it is necessary to scrape stainless steel to remove encrusted materials, soak with hot, wet cloths to loosen the material, then use a wool or nylon scraper. DO NOT use a metal knife, spatula, or any other metal tool to scrape stainless steel, as scratches are almost impossible to remove.

A qualified installer should carry out the following performance checks:

• Check top burner ignition. The flame height on HI should be 1-1/2″ (3.8 cm) with a low flame of 3/8″ (0.95 cm). The low flame should light at every port.

• Check oven bake function: bake element on full power, center and outside broil elements at partial power.

• Convection bake function: bake and broil elements the same as above, with the convection fan on.

• Check TruConvec function: element behind convection fan cover on and convection fan on.

• Check broil function: broil elements at full power.

• Check convection broil function: broil elements at full power with convection fan on.

To locate the serial plate which contains the model and serial number, remove the storage drawer and look on the inside wall of the range.

If service is required, call your authorized service agency and have the following information readily available:

• Model number

• Serial number

• Date purchased

• Name of dealer from whom purchased

You should also be able to clearly describe the problem you are having.
