How does the VICKS FILTERFREE V4600 humidifier work?

The VICKS FILTERFREE V4600 is designed to quietly provide visible cool moisture. Water is released from the water tank into the base where a small disk vibrates at a high frequency to break the water into tiny droplets. A small, ultra-quiet fan then propels these droplets into the air.

What optional accessories can be used with the VICKS FILTERFREE V4600?

The following optional accessories work with your VICKS FILTERFREE V4600 humidifier:

Vicks VapoPads®: Up to 2 scent pads can be used to provide soothing menthol (VSP-19) or lavender/rosemary (VBR-5) vapors.

Protec® Demineralization Cartridge (PDC51V1 or PDC51CV1): Helps remove minerals from the water and prevent white dust. This is best for areas with hard water if not using distilled water.

Protec® Cleaning Cartridge (PC-1, PC-1C or PC-2): Helps keep your humidifier cleaner for longer by continuously cleaning and protecting against bacteria & mold. It keeps cleaning for 30 days.

How do I set up my VICKS FILTERFREE V4600 for the first time?

Step 1. Remove the humidifier from the box and remove all packaging material. Set aside the instruction manual. Recycle packaging materials or save them for storage.

Step 2. Remove the twist tie from the power cord and extend the power cord to its full length. DO NOT OPERATE WITH THE POWER CORD COILED OR WITH THE TWIST TIE IN PLACE.

Step 3. Select a firm, level location at least 6 inches (15cm) from any walls. Place the humidifier on a water-resistant surface. The mist should be directed away from any walls, bedding, or furniture.

How do I fill or refill the VICKS FILTERFREE V4600?

Note: The tank should be carried using two hands. One hand should use the carrying handle on the tank top, and the other hand should support the base of the tank.

Step 1. Remove the tank by grasping the handle and pulling up. Remove the tank cap located on the bottom of the tank.

Step 2. Fill the tank with cool water. Do not fill with warm or hot water.

Step 3. Replace the tank cap by firmly turning it back in place. Place the tank back on the humidifier base.

What are the operating instructions for the VICKS FILTERFREE V4600?

1. Power: With the power switch in the OFF position, plug the filled humidifier into a polarized 120V outlet. Do not force the polarized plug into the outlet; it will only fit one way. Do not plug the humidifier in with wet hands to avoid electric shock.

2. Output: Set the control to your desired output setting. It is recommended to set the output to high until you reach a comfortable humidity level. The green nightlight on the control knob will illuminate, and after 10-15 seconds, your humidifier will produce a visible mist.

3. Humidity Level: Once you have reached a comfortable humidity level, turn the humidifier to a lower setting. A comfortable humidity level is between 40-60%. If you notice condensation on the walls or windows, your humidity level is too high and you should turn your humidifier off.

4. Caution: Do not operate your humidifier without the tank in place or if the unit is empty. When moving the humidifier, always turn it off and unplug it.

How do I use Vicks Scent Pads with my VICKS FILTERFREE V4600?

Note: You can use up to 2 scent pads in this device. For maximum vapors, use 2 pads.

Step 1. You can use Vicks Scent Pads (VSP-19 series, VBR-5 series, or VVP-6 series) with your humidifier to provide up to 8 hours of soothing vapors.

Step 2. Open the Scent Pad by tearing the notch on top of the pad bag. Do not touch the pad with your hands. If the pad is touched, do not rub your face as it may cause eye irritation.

Step 3. Open the scent pad door located on the side of the unit. Insert the scent pad(s) with the angled end facing towards the product. Close the door.

Step 4. Your scent pad will last 8 hours. After 8 hours, open the door, remove the old scent pad(s), and discard. If you choose to continue using scent pads, follow steps 2 and 3 again.

Recommended Usage:

• Not recommended for infants under 10 lbs (4.5 kg).

• For children between 10-22 lbs (4.5-10 kg), do not use more than 2 pads in a 24-hour period.

How do I perform weekly scale removal on my VICKS FILTERFREE V4600?

Note: All maintenance should be done in the kitchen or bathroom on a water-resistant surface. If using accessories like a demineralization or cleaning cartridge, remove them before cleaning as they cannot be cleaned.

Step 1. Always turn off the power switch and disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet before cleaning.

Step 2. Remove the Water Tank and empty any water from the base.

Step 3. Remove the mist nozzle and water tank cap and set them aside.

Step 4. Fill the water tank from the bottom and the water tray area of the base with 1 cup of distilled white vinegar.

Step 5. Place the mist nozzle and tank cap in the water tray area of the base to soak.

Step 6. Let the parts soak for 15-20 minutes.

Step 7. Using a soft cloth, gently clean the transducer area in the base to remove mineral deposits.

Step 8. Rinse the water tray area of the base, water tank, tank cap, and mist nozzle until the smell of the vinegar solution is gone. CAUTION: DO NOT IMMERSE THE BASE IN WATER.

Step 9. To clean the scent pad area, gently wipe out the scent pad heater area with a soft damp cloth. DO NOT USE VINEGAR OR BLEACH SOLUTION TO CLEAN THIS AREA.

How do I disinfect my VICKS FILTERFREE V4600?

Disinfect your humidifier after completing the scale removal process.

Step 1. Add 1 Teaspoon of bleach to 1 gallon (3.8L) of water.

Step 2. Add ½ to ¾ gallon (1.9-2.8L) of the water/bleach solution to the water reservoir of the main housing and the water tank.

Step 3. Follow steps 5 through 8 from the scale removal section (soak for 15-20 minutes and then rinse all parts thoroughly).

NOTE: Be careful with clothing, rugs, and other non-bleach-resistant materials when disinfecting. Spilling bleach on these surfaces may cause damage. Using more than 1 teaspoon of bleach per gallon of water will result in damage to your humidifier.

Step 1. Snap the mist nozzle back into the opening on top of the tank.

Step 2. Assemble the water cap back on the base of the tank.

At the end of the season, remove any accessories used with the humidifier and allow them to dry properly. Dry the humidifier completely before storing. DO NOT store with water inside the main housing water reservoir or water tank. Pack the unit in its original carton and store it in a cool, dry location.
