How do I install the TRUECAM A4 dash cam?

a) Insert the micro SD card into the slot. Always turn off the TRUECAM A4 device whenever inserting or removing the SD card.

b) Install the device on the windshield.

c) Connect the USB port and the cigarette lighter socket with the car charger, then start the engine. The device will automatically power on and start recording.


How does the automatic video-recording feature work on the TRUECAM A4?

1. Start the car engine.

2. The TRUECAM A4 device will turn on and start recording automatically.

3. Press the file protection button to lock or unlock the recording video file.

4. Press the down button to start or stop audio recording.

5. Press the Power button to turn off the LCD display.

6. Press the OK button to stop or start recording.

How do I take a picture with the TRUECAM A4?

How do I use the Motion Detection function on the TRUECAM A4?

1. Press the menu button in the video mode to enter the settings options, then choose motion detection.

2. If the device detects a moving object, a red icon will start flashing slowly and the camera will start recording automatically.

When the device no longer detects any moving object, it will automatically stop recording.

Note: It is not recommended to use the motion detection and loop recordings together.


What is the G-sensor function on the TRUECAM A4?

In case of an accident while the camera is recording, a key icon will be shown on the screen and the current video will be stored and protected against deletion caused by cycle recording.

How do I use the File Protection function on my TRUECAM A4?

1. While the device is recording, press the menu button. A key icon will be shown on the screen, and the device will lock and protect the current video from deletion.

2. Press the menu button again to disable the file protection function.

The TRUECAM A4 automatically begins recording when it detects sufficient motion, for example, when reversing. The amount of motion needed to begin recording depends on the level of motion sensitivity selected. Be careful when selecting high sensitivity as this may quickly fill up the memory card.

How do the Loop Settings work on the TRUECAM A4?

Loop recording allows the TRUECAM A4 to continuously record regardless of the memory card capacity. You can choose from four time intervals: Off / 2 min / 3 min / 5 min. The selected interval determines how long the camera will record for and save a file. The advantage of this setup is that you will never run out of space on your memory card. Moreover, it is much easier to send small files, for example, as an E-mail for use as evidence.

What is the Delay On / Off function on the TRUECAM A4?

This function is used to delay turning the camera on or off when the car engine is turned on or off. This can increase the free space on the memory card (when there is a switch on delay) or can provide a record of what happens when you leave your car (when there is a switch off delay).

How do I install and use the optional GPS locator and speed camera detector with the TRUECAM A4?

Insert the GPS / Speed camera detector module into the camera holder. Install the device on the windshield with the sticker or the sucker holder.

When the device is powered, the speed camera detector speaker will provide voice instructions, and the device will automatically start to receive a GPS signal.

When connected to a GPS satellite, the GPS icon will be shown on the LCD display.

Note: The GPS module works properly only when it is plugged into the DVR mount adapter that is connected to power in the car lighter. When you want to change the voice alert setting, the GPS module must be connected to power in the car lighter as noted.


How do I use the SPEEDOMETER feature on the TRUECAM A4?

When in recording mode or standby mode, pressing the up button will switch the screen to show information about current speed, compass, and distance to a speed camera. If the driving speed is above the current speed limit, a speed limit icon will appear.

What are the precautions and notices for using the TRUECAM A4?

– For your own safety, do not use the camera’s controls while driving.

– A window mount is needed when using the recorder in a car. Make sure that you place the recorder in an appropriate place, so as not to obstruct the driver’s view or deployment of airbags.

– Make sure that no object is blocking the camera lens and no reflective material is placed near the lens. Please keep the lens clean.

– If the car’s windshield is tinted or coated, it may impact the recording quality.

– For general use it is recommended to have motion detection enabled. May lead to the memory card filling up quickly.

– The camera is primarily designed to operate while being constantly under power supply.


What are the safety notices for the batteries of the TRUECAM A4?

– Before first use, fully charge the battery.

– For charging only use chargers that are specified for this type of battery.

– Use standard cables for charging, otherwise it could damage the device.

– Never connect to a mechanically damaged charger or if the batteries are swollen. Do not use batteries in this condition due to risk of explosion.

– Do not use any damaged adapter or charger.

– Charge at room temperature, never charge at a temperature below 0°C or at a temperature higher than 40°C.

– Avoid dropping the battery, don‘t puncture, or mutilate it. Definitely do not attempt to repair a damaged battery.

– GPS satellite signals cannot pass through solid materials (except glass). When you are inside a tunnel or a building, GPS positioning is not available. Signal reception can be affected by situations such as bad weather or dense overhead obstacles (e.g. trees, tunnels, viaducts and tall buildings).

– The GPS positioning data is for reference only.


How should I care for my TRUECAM A4 device?

– Taking good care of your device will ensure trouble-free operation and reduce the risk of damage.

– Keep your device away from excessive moisture and extreme temperatures and avoid exposing your device to direct sunlight or strong ultraviolet light for extended periods of time.

– Do not drop your device or subject it to severe shock.

– Do not subject your device to sudden and severe temperature changes. This could cause moisture condensation inside the unit, which could damage your device. In the event of moisture condensation, allow the device to dry out completely before use.

– The screen surface can easily be scratched. Avoid touching it with sharp objects.

– Never clean your device when it is powered on. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the screen and the exterior of your device. Do not use paper towels to clean the screen.

What is the caution regarding speed camera alerts on the TRUECAM A4?

Caution:

– The camera includes supplementary software that is eligible to detect speed cameras and other traffic safety systems. Please verify that this supplementary software is according to the law of the state where the camera is used.

– TrueCam is eligible to detect speed cameras and other systems used for securing safety in traffic by finding out their GPS coordinates, which are ascertained from the public databases. The camera is not equipped with any system that is able to detect radio waves sent out by speed cameras or other traffic safety systems.

– You can activate this function in your GPS module by setting it to the ON position. You can receive alerts to warn you about the locations of speed cameras, which will enable you to monitor your speed through these areas.
