Follow these steps to set up your TP-LINK EP40 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug via the Kasa Smart app:

1. Download and install Kasa app: Get the Kasa Smart app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, or by scanning the QR code provided in the guide.

2. Log in or sign up with TP-Link ID: Open the app, and log in with your TP-Link ID. If you don’t have an account, create one first.

3. Add Device: Tap the + button in the Kasa app, go to Smart Plug > Smart Outdoor Plug and then follow app instructions to complete the setup.

• Secure the plug with the provided clamp and screw.

To set a timer on the TP-LINK EP40 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug to automatically turn on/off after a specified time:

1. Tap either outlet of your plug in the Home page, and then tap Timer.

2. Set the time after which the connected device will be automatically turned on/off. For example, if you turn on the outdoor light, you may want it to turn off automatically after 30 minutes.

3. Tap START and you’ll see the timer starts counting down. Tap STOP to stop the Timer at any time.

The Away Mode sets the connected devices to turn on/off automatically at random intervals while you are away to make the appearance that someone is at home.

1. Tap either outlet of your plug in the Home page, and then tap Away.

2. Set the start and end time during which the connected device will be automatically turned on and off at random intervals, then choose the repeating frequency. Note: The start and end time must be on the same day.

For example, to have an outdoor light turn on/off from 6:00 PM to 11:59 PM every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, set the Start time to 6:00 PM, End time to 11:59 PM, and select Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in the repeating frequency.

To check the runtime for either outlet of your TP-LINK EP40 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug:

1. Tap either outlet of your plug in the Home page, and then tap Runtime.

2. You can check the runtime for today, the past 7 days, or the past 30 days.

The display shows:

• Today: Current Runtime and Total Runtime.
• Past 7 Days: Daily Average and Total Runtime.
• Past 30 Days: Daily Average and Total Runtime.

To manage device settings for each outlet of your TP-LINK EP40 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug:

1. Tap either outlet of your plug in the Home page and then tap the settings gear icon.

2. You can customize settings of each outlet of your plug in the Device Settings page, which includes:

• NAME AND ICON: Change name and icon for each outlet (outdoor plug 1, outdoor plug 2).
• CUSTOMIZE: Swap outlets or control the Status LED.
• ADVANCED: Access Feature Tutorial or Device Info.

To change the name and icon for an outlet on the TP-LINK EP40 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug:

1. Tap either outlet of your plug in the Home page to go to the Device Settings page.

2. Under NAME AND ICON, tap the outlet you wish to modify (e.g., outdoor plug 1 or outdoor plug 2) to change its name and icon.

1. Go to the Device Settings page for the plug.

2. Tap Swap under the CUSTOMIZE section.

3. On the Swap screen, confirm the appliances associated with Plug 1 (outdoor plug 1) and Plug 2 (outdoor plug 2), and then tap Swap.

• Press and hold for 5s will reset its Wi-Fi connection while keeping previous configurations.

To create a group for unified management of your TP-LINK EP40 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug outlets and/or other Kasa smart devices:

1. Create a group: Tap the + button in the Home page of the Kasa Smart app, and select Group.

2. Select the outlets of your plug and other devices, and tap Save.

3. Name the group.

4. The created group is listed in the Home page. You can tap ON or OFF to turn on or off the devices together in the group.

To manage a group you have created:

1. Tap the group you want to manage from the GROUPS section on the Home page.

2. Turn on or off the Group in the status page.

3. Tap the settings gear icon to enter the settings page. Here you can change the group name or devices in the group as you like.

4. Tap Remove Group if you want to remove the group from your device list. Then double confirm it. All devices in the group will remain accessible on the device list.

To create a Scene using the TP-LINK EP40 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug outlets:

1. Tap Scenes at the bottom, then select a scene or create your own scene (e.g., turn on outdoor light and turn off outdoor light strip with one tap).

2. Select devices for the scene to work on and set their status respectively. Here you choose the two outlets of your plug.

3. Pick an icon for your scene.

4. Name your scene.

5. Tap Save. Then your scene is created successfully.

6. Your scene is displayed in the scene list. Just tap the scene to activate it.

If you already have a Kasa Smart Camera, to configure Motion Sensing to turn on the outdoor light when the camera senses a motion:

1. Tap Motion Sensing in the Smart Actions menu, then select a camera (e.g., KC310).

2. Select an outlet of your TP-LINK EP40 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug (e.g., outdoor plug 2 Turn On).

3. Configure NOTIFY ME WHEN: You can choose Always or tap Custom to select a time range and repeating days (e.g., 8:00 PM – 7:00 AM every day).

4. (Optional) Set an auto-off timer then tap Complete. Then your outdoor light will be turned off after the time you set if no motion is detected.

5. Name your action for easy identification.

6. The Smart Action is created successfully and displayed in the Smart Actions list.

If you already have a Kasa Smart Switch, to configure Control With a Switch so the outdoor light turns on when you turn on your switch, and turns off when you turn off the switch:

1. Tap Control With a Switch in the Smart Actions menu.

2. Add a Kasa smart switch (e.g., KS200M Turn On/Off).

3. Then select an outlet of your TP-LINK EP40 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug (e.g., outdoor plug 2 Turn On/Off).

4. Name your action for easy identification.

5. Your Smart Action is created successfully and displayed in the Smart Actions list.

To configure Schedule a Scene to turn on a created scene automatically at a scheduled time:

1. Tap Schedule a Scene in the Smart Actions menu.

2. Select a scene you have created (e.g., Evening).

3. Set the time and frequency at which you want your scene to be turned on (e.g., set time AT 19:00 on specific days).

4. Name your action for easy identification.

5. Your Smart Action is created successfully and displayed in the Smart Actions list.

To configure an Auto-Off Timer, for example, to turn off your outdoor light after 30 minutes when it is turned on:

1. Tap Auto-Off Timer in the Smart Actions menu, then select an outlet your TP-LINK EP40 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug (e.g., outdoor plug 1).

2. Set the time for when the device should turn off after being turned on (e.g., set to turn off after 10 minutes).

3. Name your action for easy identification (e.g., Light Timer).

4. The Smart Action is created successfully and displayed in the Smart Actions list.

To set up Amazon Alexa integration for your TP-LINK EP40 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug:

1. Tap Amazon Alexa in the Works with Kasa menu within the Kasa Smart app sidebar.

2. Tap Connect.

3. Sign in with your Amazon account.

4. After sign-in, tap LINK.

Your TP-Link ID has been successfully linked with your Amazon account, and you can use Alexa voice commands to control your Smart Outdoor Plug.

To set up Google Assistant integration for your TP-LINK EP40 Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug:

1. Tap Google Assistant in the Works with Kasa menu within the Kasa Smart app sidebar.

2. Follow instructions to connect your device to your Google Home. Before you start, please make sure Remote Control of your Kasa device is enabled on your Kasa App.

• Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the device.
• Do not use the device where wireless devices are not allowed.
