When using the TOA BS-1030W, please observe the following safety precautions:

WARNING (Potential for death or serious personal injury):

Use only the specified amplifier output voltage and impedance, as exceeding specified limits could result in fire or other failures.

Do not use the unit around gasoline, thinner, or other combustibles to avoid accidental air explosions.

Install the unit only in a location that can structurally support the weight of the unit and the mounting bracket. Doing otherwise may result in the unit falling down.

Do not use methods other than those specified to mount the bracket. Extreme force applied to the unit could cause it to fall.

Use nuts and bolts appropriate for the ceiling’s or wall’s structure and composition.

Tighten each nut and bolt securely and ensure the bracket has no loose joints after installation.

Attach the safety wire to the unit when mounting in locations high above the ground.

Avoid mounting the unit in locations exposed to constant vibration.

CAUTION (Potential for moderate/minor injury or property damage):

Switch off the amplifier power when connecting the speaker to avoid electric shocks.

Avoid installing in humid or dusty locations, or locations exposed to heaters, solvents, acid, alkali, smoke, or steam.

Do not operate the unit for an extended period with the sound distorting, as this may cause heat generation and fire.

Do not stand or sit on, nor hang down from the unit.

Have the unit periodically checked by the shop where it was purchased to prevent the speaker from falling due to damage or corrosion.

The TOA BS-1030W features a smoothly curved surface that blends with modern buildings. It includes a built-in matching transformer for use in both high-impedance and low-impedance (8 Ohm) applications. The impedance can be easily changed from outside the speaker. Additionally, it has a splash-proof design allowing for outdoor installation in locations not directly exposed to elements, such as under eaves. It can be mounted directly to wall surfaces or used with supplied or optional mounting brackets.

To change the impedance on the TOA BS-1030W, follow these instructions:

1. Switch off the amplifier power before changing the input.

2. Use a slotted screwdriver to change the position of the rear panel-mounted rotary switches.

3. For High Impedance (70 V or 100 V Line) Applications: Set the [LINE VOL.] rotary switch to the 70 V or 100 V position, and set the [INPUT] rotary switch to the desired wattage.

4. For Low Impedance Applications: Set both the [LINE VOL.] and [INPUT] rotary switches to the [8 Ohm] position.

Note: Never set the [INPUT] switch to the [8 Ohm] position when the [LINE VOL.] switch is set to the 70V or 100 V (high impedance) position to avoid damage to the speaker.

The TOA BS-1030W input impedance is factory preset to 30 W (330 Ohm) of 100 V line. The available settings are:

High impedance (100 V line):

330 Ohm (30 W)

500 Ohm (20 W)

670 Ohm (15 W)

1 kOhm (10 W)

2 kOhm (5 W)

High impedance (70 V line):

170 Ohm (30 W)

250 Ohm (20 W)

330 Ohm (15 W)

500 Ohm (10 W)

1 kOhm (5 W)

Low Impedance:

8 Ohm

To wall mount the TOA BS-1030W without a bracket, using surface-mount screws (not supplied), follow these steps:

Step 1. Prepare screws appropriate for the wall material. Install two surface-mount screws in the wall 50 mm apart. Leave them sticking out approximately 3 – 5 mm from the wall surface.

Step 2. Connect the speaker cable. Route the speaker cable so that it is not pinched between the speaker and the wall surface.

Step 3. Place the speaker’s rear panel mounting holes over the two installed screws to mount the speaker to the wall surface.

Note: When installing the speaker horizontally, use the relevant mounting holes shown in the manual diagram.

To mount the TOA BS-1030W using the supplied bracket:

Step 1. Attach the bracket to the speaker using the supplied hardware (Machine screw and Plain washer).

Step 2. Mount the speaker in the desired location using the mounting holes made in the bracket.

Note: Bracket mounting hardware (screws/bolts for the wall) is not supplied with the unit. You must prepare the correct type appropriate for the wall material.

The TOA BS-1030W has a splash-proof construction (IP-X3) allowing installation outdoors, such as under eaves, where it is not directly exposed to the elements. However, strictly follow these orientation instructions:

Vertical Installation: Install the speaker so that its front panel orientation stays within the range shown in the manual (typically face-down or upright, not angled upwards where water can collect).

Horizontal Installation: Install the speaker with the logo mark located at the right of the front panel as viewed from the front. The logo mark can be changed to correct its orientation.

Note: The splash-proof function will not work with any installation method other than those referred to above. Avoid locations exposed to constant vibration.
