VHF/UHF SEPARATE ANTENNAS: In some areas it will be necessary to use an outdoor antenna. If you have separate VHF and UHF antennas, you will need a VHF/UHF Combiner (not supplied) to connect both to the single ANT. IN jack.
CABLE WITHOUT CONVERTER/DESCRAMBLER BOX: Use this connection if your cable system connects directly to your TV/DVD without a converter box. Use the TV/DVD Remote Control to select channels.
CABLE WITH CONVERTER/DESCRAMBLER BOX OR SATELLITE BOX: If your cable service supplies you with a converter box or if you use a satellite system, connect the output of the box to the ANT. IN jack on the TV/DVD. Channel selection must then be made with the converter box or satellite box. To view a channel, set the TV/DVD to the output channel of the box (e.g., CH3) and select the desired channel on your Cable or Satellite Box.
NOTE: Before plugging an antenna into the ANT. IN jack, check that the pin is not bent. If it is bent, straighten the pin as illustrated, then plug it in.

2. Press POWER to turn on the TV/DVD.
3. Select the On Screen Language: The SET UP menu appears. Press ▲ or ▼ to point to “LANGUAGE”. Then, press ENTER to select “ENGLISH”, “ESP” (Spanish), or “FRA” (French).
4. Begin auto preset: Press ▲ or ▼ to point to “AUTO PRESET”. Then, press ENTER. The tuner scans and memorizes all active channels in your area.

You can delete channels you no longer receive or seldom watch from the memory.
1. Press SETUP on the remote control. Press ▲ or ▼ to point to “CHANNEL SET UP”, then press ENTER.
2. Press ▲ or ▼ to point to “ADD/DELETE CH”, then press ENTER.
3. Enter the desired channel number. Press ▲ or ▼ until your desired channel number appears. You can also use the Number buttons or CH. ▲/▼ to enter it (Example: CH8).
4. Press ENTER. The channel number changes to light red, and the channel is deleted from memory. To add a deleted channel back, press ENTER again while it is selected. The channel color will change to light blue, indicating it has been added.
5. To delete another channel, repeat steps 3 and 4. When finished, press SETUP to exit.
How do I adjust the picture controls on the SYMPHONIC BL519DD?
The TV/DVD’s picture controls – BRIGHT, CONTRAST, COLOR, TINT and SHARPNESS – are preset to factory specifications, but you may need to make further adjustments. Make sure the TV/DVD power is turned on.
1. Press PICTURE on the remote control.
2. Press ▲ or ▼ until the desired control (BRIGHT, CONTRAST, COLOR, TINT, or SHARPNESS) is displayed.
3. Press ◄ or ► to adjust to your desired level within 5 seconds.
The picture adjustment display will disappear from the TV screen after about 5 seconds unless you press any buttons.

The Sleep Timer function enables you to shut off the power without pressing POWER after a desired time period.
To set the Sleep Timer:
Press SLEEP on the remote control repeatedly. The timer is set up to 120 minutes, in 30-minute increments each time SLEEP is pressed (30, 60, 90, 120 minutes).
To cancel the Sleep Timer:
Press SLEEP repeatedly until “SLEEP 0 MINUTE” is displayed.
NOTES:
• If you disconnect the unit from the AC outlet, or if there is a power failure, the sleep time will be lost.
• To view the time left, press SLEEP once. The display will disappear again after 10 seconds.
How do I use the Closed Caption system on the SYMPHONIC BL519DD?
You can view specially labeled (cc) TV programs with either a dialogue caption or text display. Make sure the TV/DVD power is turned on.
1. Press SETUP on the remote control. Press ▲ or ▼ to point to “CAPTION”.
2. Press ENTER until your desired caption menu appears. The options are [CAPTION1], [CAPTION2], [TEXT1], or [TEXT2].
3. Press SETUP on the remote control to return to TV mode.
To cancel the Closed Caption system: Repeat steps 1 and 2, but select [OFF] using ENTER. Press SETUP to exit.
