The EDID switch on the SY ELECTRONICS SLIM 70-PRO SY-HDBT-70SP-T transmitter has three settings:

TP: Generate a Test Pattern, which is configurable via RS232 command. The default is Chequerboard at 1080p.

PRE: Use pre-defined HDMI input EDID. There are 16 EDID options selectable from RS232 commands. The default is 4K60 (4:4:4) 2.0CH.

Pass: Use the EDID data directly from the connected display device.

Follow these steps to set up the SY ELECTRONICS SLIM 70-PRO SY-HDBT-70SP-T extender set:

Connect a video source to the transmitter HDMI input and the display device to the receiver HDMI output.

Ensure the catx cable is wired correctly according to RJ-45 wiring standards.

Plug the cat5e/6/6a cable into the RJ45 jacks of both units.

Connect optional inputs and outputs such as audio, IR, or RS232 if needed.

Power up the extender by connecting the 48V DC power adaptor to either the transmitter or receiver unit. Only one PSU is required due to the iPoC function.

Audio connection can be made using either a 3.5mm Stereo jack (L/R) or optical Mini-Toslink on the transmitter unit.

Both connectors must be wired identically using the T568B standard. The RJ45 plug colour code for T568B is as follows:

Pin 8: Brown

Pin 7: White / Brown

Pin 6: Green

Pin 5: White / Blue

Pin 4: Blue

Pin 3: White / Green

Pin 2: Orange

Pin 1: White / Orange

It is recommended to use Cat6 cable with 4 pairs of 23AWG solid copper wires. Shielded cable is recommended for noisy environments. HDBaseT signals will not pass through Ethernet devices and must be connected directly between the transmitter and receiver.

The SY ELECTRONICS SLIM 70-PRO SY-HDBT-70SP-T supports three scaling options:

1080p: Down-scale any 4K resolution to 1080p.

4K60-420: Convert 4K60 4:4:4 signals to 4K60 4:2:0 for colour-space conversion.

Auto: Provides optimal resolution or colour-space based on cable length and display capability.

The IR IN and IR OUT ports are wired as follows for the 3.5mm jack terminal:

Tip: 5V for both IR Eye (Receiver) and IR Bud (Emitter).

Ring: IR Signal for IR Eye (Receiver); Not applicable for IR Bud (Emitter).

Sleeve: Ground for IR Eye (Receiver); IR Signal for IR Bud (Emitter).

The RS232 control commands for the SY ELECTRONICS SLIM 70-PRO SY-HDBT-70SP-T use the following port settings:

Baud Rate: 57600

Data Bits: 8

Parity: None

Stop Bits: 1

All commands must be sent in uppercase and terminated with the ASCII carriage-return character (0x0d).

When setting temperature values using the SY ELECTRONICS SLIM 70-PRO SY-HDBT-70SP-T RS232 commands, the following rule must be followed: Shutdown temperature (y) > Warning temperature (x) > Re-power temperature (z) > 55.

The LED indicators on the front of the SY ELECTRONICS SLIM 70-PRO SY-HDBT-70SP-T provide the following information:

Power LED: Lit when the unit is powered.

Link LED: Lit when the HDBaseT transmitter and receiver are linked together.

Signal LED: Lit when there is video signal transmission through the HDMI cable.
