To ensure safety and long product life, please read and follow these important safety instructions for your SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD:

1) Read these instructions, and keep them for future use.

2) Heed all warnings and follow all instructions.

3) Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. There must be at least 1.5″ of space on all sides.

4) Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.

5) Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.

6) Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where the cord exits from the apparatus.

7) Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.

8) Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.

9) Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms.

10) Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

General Precautions:

• Do not let metal pieces or objects of any kind fall into the television from ventilation holes.

• Do not mount the SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD near a motor or transformer where strong magnetism is generated.

• Do not submerge the SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD in water. It will resist water exposure from normal rain and sprinklers, but it is not designed to be submerged.

• Do not pressure-wash the SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD. It is not designed to withstand pressure washers or high-pressure water jets.

• Do not service the SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD yourself. Refer all servicing to a qualified service professional.

WARNINGS:

• The SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD must be plugged into a GFCI receptacle.

• The TV and GFCI receptacle must be installed no less than 5 feet from any body of water (such as a pool or spa). Check local building codes for proper installation guidelines.

• This unit is equipped with a 3-pin grounded plug. The plug will only fit into a grounded power outlet. Do not alter this plug.

• The main plug is used as the disconnect device and shall remain readily operable.

• This product shall be connected to a mains socket outlet with a protective earthing connection.

• To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose the inside of this apparatus to rain or moisture.

CAUTION: To prevent electric shock, match the wide blade of the plug to the wide slot and fully insert.

If an outside antenna is connected to the television equipment, be sure the antenna system is grounded to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Section 810 of the National Electrical Code provides information regarding proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, ground of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode.

For added protection for this television equipment during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna. This will prevent damage to the equipment due to lightning and power-line surges.

An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits as contact with them might be fatal.

NOTE TO CATV SYSTEM INSTALLER: This reminder is provided to call the CATV system installer’s attention to Article 820-40 of the National Electrical Code that provides guidelines for proper grounding and, in particular, specifies that the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the building, as close to the point of cable entry as practical.

These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. After unpacking the SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD television, please make sure that the following items are included in the carton and that they are in good condition:

• SunBriteTV LCD Television

• Remote Control with Batteries

• Speaker Module (SB-4917HD only)

• Operator’s Manual

If items are damaged or missing, contact your dealer immediately.

Important: The TV must be installed at least 5 feet from a pool, spa, or other body of water.

The TV should be installed so the screen is not facing direct sunlight, or can be easily turned away from direct sunlight. Ideal placement is in an area where the TV is shaded by trees, landscape and/or structures, or under a patio cover or gazebo.

Remember that the position of the sun changes during the day. This means that the quality of the picture will change during the day. If you intend to install the TV in areas where direct sunlight will reach it, it’s best to position the TV for optimum performance during the time of day when you do most of your TV watching.

If the sun shines directly on the screen for long periods of time, dark areas may develop on the screen. This is a normal reaction for the LCD panel and will not cause damage to the screen. Either turn the screen away from the sun, or apply shade to the TV, and the dark areas will quickly disappear.

WARNING: Do not connect the power source before making connections.

The Internal Connect Source is inside the Cable Cover located on the back of the SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD. To access it, follow these steps:

1. Unscrew the two Thumb Screws and pull the cover towards you.

2. Route the cables to the proper inputs, and place the cable cords over the Rubber Sealing Gasket on the bottom of the cable access opening.

3. Be sure the cables are routed past the indentation on the bottom of the door. Cable cannot be routed through the top and side of the rubber sealing gasket.

4. Close the cover. Press firmly on the cover, and screw the Thumb Screws tightly.

The rear panel of your SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD has various connection ports with the following functions:

1 & 2. SERVICE PORT: These ports are for factory service only, do not use.

3. USB power port: 5vdc @ 3.5a Auxiliary power supply.

4. 1.3mm Power Jack: 5vdc @ 3.5a Auxiliary power supply.

5. HDMI 1 & 2: Connects to devices that use HDMI cables such as Blu-ray players or HD cable/satellite set-top boxes. This port accepts a pure digital audio and high-definition signal through a single cable.

6. VGA STEREO INPUT: Use a 3.5mm mini-jack audio cable to provide audio to the TV when using a PC or a DVI video device.

7. VGA: This port connects to a PC for video using a VGA cable. Be sure to connect your audio cable to the VGA Stereo input if you require sound.

8. COMPONENT 1 (Lower): These ports are for DVD players or satellite/cable set-top boxes that use component cables (green, blue, red for video; white, red for audio).

9. COMPONENT 2 (Upper): These ports are for DVD players or satellite/cable set-top boxes that use component cables (green, blue, red for video; white, red for audio).

10. AV 1 (CVBS or S-Video): Connects to devices that use composite (yellow) or s-video cables such as VCRs or video game consoles. Do NOT connect both video connectors simultaneously.

11. DIGITAL AUDIO OUT: The orange (SPDIF OUT) connector sends out digital sound signals to other audio devices like stereo/surround sound receivers.

12. ATSC/NTSC/QAM Coax input: This connection is for digital or analog cable without a cable box or over-the-air antennas using a coaxial RF cable.

13. IR WINDOW: Rear IR receiver, allows an IR emitter to be installed inside the cable compartment.

14. ANALOG AUDIO OUT (Variable): Used to connect headphones, stereo receivers, and amplified speakers via a 3.5mm headphone jack.

15. 5 pin din jack: SunbriteTV speaker bar connection.

16. 2.5mm power jack: 12v @ 3amps Auxiliary power supply.

17. RS232: For remote control using RS232 commands.

Cable Descriptions

Your SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD offers several options for connecting devices. After connecting a device, you must select the correct input source to view its content. Use the SOURCE button on your remote control or the INPUT button on the side of the TV to cycle through the available sources.

The chart below shows which source name to select for each type of connection:

To connect to digital cable (without a cable box) or an antenna:

1. Make sure the power to the TV is turned off.

2. Connect the Coaxial RF cable from your antenna or digital cable to the ATSC/NTSC port on the back of the TV.

3. Turn on the TV.

4. Select TV (Air) for an antenna or TV (Cable) for digital cable from either your remote control’s source button or the source button on the right side of the TV.

5. Use the On-Screen Display to scan for channels.

Please Note:

• Not all broadcasts are in High Definition (HD). Please refer to your local broadcasting stations for more information.

• The TV’s tuner is designed for HDTV and therefore requires a stronger signal than normal TVs. If you cannot achieve that signal level with your antenna or cable, the TV might lose picture or sound.

You can connect a DVD player using several methods, ranked from best to fair quality.

Connecting with HDMI (Best)

1. Make sure the power of the TV and your DVD player is turned off.

2. Connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI port of your DVD player and the other end to an HDMI port on the back of your TV.

3. Turn on the TV and your DVD player.

4. Use the remote control’s source button or the source button on the TV to switch to HDMI.

Connecting with Component (Better)

1. Make sure the power of the TV and your DVD player is turned off.

2. With a Component Cable, connect the green, blue, and red connectors to the corresponding ports on both the DVD player and the Component 1 input on the TV.

3. With an RCA Audio Cable, connect the white and red connectors to the corresponding audio ports on both the DVD player and the Component 1 input on the TV.

4. Turn on the TV and your DVD player. Use the remote’s source button to switch to YPbPr1.

Connecting with S-Video (Fair)

1. Make sure the power of the TV and your DVD player is turned off.

2. Connect an S-Video cable to both your DVD player and the Composite’s S-Video port on the TV.

3. Connect an RCA Audio Cable (white and red) to the audio ports on both devices.

4. Turn on the TV and your DVD player. Use the source button to switch to AV1 (S-Video).

Connecting with Composite (Fair)

1. Make sure the power of the TV and your DVD player is turned off.

2. Connect a Yellow Video Cable to the composite video ports on both devices.

3. Connect an RCA Audio Cable (white and red) to the audio ports on both devices.

4. Turn on the TV and your DVD player. Use the source button to switch to AV1 (CVBS).

Note: This TV will turn off automatically if there’s no signal present for more than 15 minutes.

You can connect a satellite or cable set-top box using several methods, ranked from best to fair quality.

Connecting with HDMI (Best)

1. Make sure the power of the TV and your set-top box is turned off.

2. Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI output of your set-top box to an HDMI port on the back of your TV.

3. Turn on the TV and your set-top box.

4. Use the source button on the remote or TV to switch to HDMI 1.

Connecting with Component (Better)

1. Make sure the power of the TV and your set-top box is turned off.

2. Using a Component Cable, connect the green, blue, and red video connectors to the corresponding ports on both the set-top box and the TV’s Component 1 input.

3. Using an RCA Audio Cable, connect the white and red audio connectors to the corresponding ports on both devices.

4. Turn on the TV and your set-top box.

5. Use the source button to switch to YPbPr1.

Note: Connections using S-Video and Composite cables are also possible, following similar steps to connecting a DVD player. This TV will turn off automatically if there’s no signal present for more than 15 minutes.

You can connect external audio devices using digital or analog outputs.

Connecting with Coaxial SPDIF Digital (Best)

1. Make sure the power of the TV and your receiver is turned off.

2. Obtain a Coaxial SPDIF cable. Connect it to your receiver’s coaxial SPDIF digital input and the Coaxial SPDIF connection on the LINE OUT port on the back of the TV.

3. Turn on the TV and your receiver.

4. For pure digital stream, configure the TV’s OSD Sound->Digital Audio Out function to Bit Stream. If you hear static, use the PCM option instead.

Connecting with RCA Audio Analog (Good)

1. Make sure the power of the TV and your receiver is turned off.

2. Obtain a 3.5mm stereo/audio cable. If your amplifier uses RCA jacks, you will need a 1/8″ Stereo Mini Plug to RCA adapter cable.

3. Connect the cable to your receiver’s audio input and the 3.5mm Analog Audio port on the back of the TV.

4. Turn on the TV and your receiver.

You can connect a PC using a digital DVI-to-HDMI connection or an analog VGA connection.

Connecting with DVI Digital (Best)

1. Obtain an HDMI to DVI conversion cable. Connect the DVI side to the DVI output of your PC and the HDMI side to an HDMI port on the back of the TV.

2. Obtain a 3.5 mm Mini-jack cable. Connect it from the audio out of your PC to the VGA Stereo Input port on the TV.

3. Turn on the power to the TV and the PC.

4. From the remote control or TV panel, switch the source to HDMI.

5. For the best picture, set your PC resolution to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz.

Connecting with VGA Analog (Good)

1. Make sure the power of the TV and your PC is turned off.

2. Obtain a 15-pin D-Sub VGA cable. Connect it from the VGA output of your PC to the VGA port on the back of your TV.

3. Obtain a 3.5 mm Mini-jack cable. Connect it from the audio out of your PC to the VGA Stereo Input port on the TV.

4. Turn on the power of the TV and your PC.

5. Use the source button on the remote or TV to switch to VGA.

6. For the best results, set your PC resolution to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz.

WARNING: TV and GFCI receptacle must be installed at least 5 feet away from standing water, such as (but not limited to) a pool or spa.

Connect the power cord only after you have made all connections to your video equipment.

Connect the power cord to a GFCI-protected AC outlet with an “in-use” waterproof cover.

Here is a guide to the functions of the remote control for your SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD:

• ON: Powers the TV On.

• OFF: Powers the TV Off.

• 0-9: Allows you to set the channels directly.

• Dash (-): Insert the dash for selecting digital channels directly.

• R: Returns to the previous channel.

• SLEEP: Sets a timer for the TV to turn Off.

• CC: Selects Closed Caption (only works under sources TV, AV1 and AV2).

• V+ / V-: Functions the Volume Up / Down.

• MUTE: Mutes the TV’s Audio.

• MENU: Opens / Exits the TV menu.

• CH+ / CH-: Functions the Channel Up / Down.

• MTS: Selects stereo, mono, or second audio programming.

• Arrow Buttons (↑/↓/←/→) / Enter (–): Allow you to navigate inside the OSD menu. The center button acts as the Enter button.

• SOUND: Selects various preset sound settings.

• EXIT: Exits the TV menu.

• PICTURE: Selects various preset picture settings.

• GUIDE: Opens the current digital channel information guide.

• SOURCE: Cycles between different input sources of the TV.

• INFO: Shows current channel information, display input, and resolution.

• ASPECT: Selects different screen sizes.

• FAVORITE: Cycles through the favorite channels.

• FAVORITE ADD / DEL: Adds or deletes the current channel from the favorites channel list.

• FREEZE: Freezes the TV picture. Press the button again to unfreeze the picture.

To select discrete inputs directly, press and hold the SHIFT button, then press the corresponding number button (0-9).

You can adjust the On-Screen Display (OSD) settings using either the remote control or the buttons on the side of the TV.

Via the Remote Control:

• Use the Arrow buttons (↑/↓/←/→) to navigate up, down, left, and right within the OSD.

• Use the Enter button (–) to select options.

• Use the MENU button to open the OSD or go back to the previous menu level.

• Use the EXIT button to exit the OSD entirely.

Via the TV Side Panel Buttons:

• MENU: Opens the OSD.

• CH+ (Up) / CH- (Down): Moves the cursor up or down in the menu.

• Vol+ (Right) / Vol- (Left): Moves the selection left or right to select a choice.

• INPUT: Acts as the enter button to confirm a selection.

The Channel Menu is only available when TV is selected as the source. Press MENU on your remote, then select the Channel icon.

• Air/Cable: Select between Air (for an over-the-air antenna) or Cable.

• Auto Scan: Highlight this option and press enter to begin the Auto Scan process. This will automatically build a list of all available stations your TV can receive through the antenna or cable. The scan process typically takes 3 to 5 minutes.

• Favorite: This submenu allows you to select specific channels as your favorites. To add a channel, highlight it and press enter; a red heart will appear. To delete a channel, highlight it and press enter again; the red heart will disappear.

• Show/Hide: This submenu allows you to delete specific channels from the list that appears when you use the CH+/CH- buttons. Highlight a channel and press the left arrow to hide it (a ø symbol will appear). Press the right arrow to restore it.

• Channel Label: Highlight this option and press enter to change the name of the currently selected channel as it appears on-screen. Use the arrow buttons to change characters.

• DTV Signal: This meter indicates the signal strength of the current digital channel. The longer the horizontal bar, the better the signal strength.

To adjust picture settings, press MENU on your remote, then select the Picture icon.

• Picture Mode: Select from Standard, Dynamic, Theater, or Personal picture mode. Adjustments for Contrast, Brightness, Sharpness, and Color are only available when Personal mode is selected.

• Contrast: Adjusts the difference between the darkest and brightest parts of the image.

• Brightness: Adjusts the overall lightness or darkness of the image.

• Sharpness: Adjusts the definition of edges in the image.

• Tint: Tint adjustment is not supported on this model.

• Color: Adjusts the color saturation.

• Color Temperature: Select Normal, Warm, or Cool color temperature.

• Zoom Mode: Selects the picture aspect ratio. With HDMI, choices are 16:9, 4:3, or Point to Point. With other signals, choices are 16:9, 4:3, Full, or Zoom.

• 3D Noise Reduction: Select Off, Weak, Middle, or Strong to reduce digital noise in the picture.

• Backlight: Adjusts the brightness of the screen’s backlight.

• Dynamic Light Control (DLC): Turn On/Off. When on, DLC automatically optimizes brightness and contrast for the program you’re watching.

To adjust audio settings, press MENU on your remote, then select the Audio icon.

• Equalizer: Select a preset sound mode: Standard, Music, Movie, Sports, or Personal. Individual frequency adjustments are only available when Personal mode is selected.

• 120 Hz / 500 Hz / 1.5 kHz / 5 kHz / 10 kHz: Adjusts the levels for specific audio frequencies (bass, midrange, treble) when in Personal sound mode.

• MTS: This function is supported only with analog broadcast signals, which are no longer used in the U.S.

• Audio Language: Select English, Spanish, or French. This operates only with multiple-language TV broadcasts.

• Digital Output: Select PCM or Raw (bitstream) for the digital audio output. Use Raw only if the connected audio system can decode Dolby Digital. This operates only when TV is the selected source.

• Surround Sound: Switch the surround sound effect on and off.

To adjust time-related settings, press MENU on your remote, then select the Time icon.

• Sleep Timer: Set the TV to turn off automatically after a selected time (5 to 240 minutes).

• Time Zone: Select your local time zone (Atlantic, Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Alaska, or Hawaii).

• Daylight Saving Time: Turn daylight saving time on or off.

• Time Format: Select 12-hour or 24-hour time format.

• Auto Sync: When turned on, this feature automatically sets the time on your TV based on information from TV signals. Clock and DST adjustments are not available when auto sync is on.

• Clock: Manually set the year, month, day, hour, and minute.

• Wake Up: Set a specific time (year, month, day, hour, minute) for the TV to turn on automatically.

To adjust general TV settings, press MENU on your remote, then select the Setup icon.

• Menu Language: Select English, French, or Spanish for the on-screen menus.

• Transparent: Adjust the transparency of the on-screen menus (0% to 100%).

• Closed Caption: (TV source only) Turn captions Off, On, or CC on Mute. Advanced options for caption appearance are also available.

• Restore Default: Restore the TV to its original factory settings.

• Setup Wizard: Guides you through several basic settings including Menu Language, Time Zone, and Auto Scan.

• Software Update (USB): Used to update the software on your TV. Consult your dealer for more information.

• BlueScreen: Activate or deactivate the blue screen that appears when no signal is available.

• HDMI Mode: Select Video or PC mode. PC mode shows every pixel; Video mode crops a few percent of the image and zooms it to fill the screen.

• Earphone: Turn the 3.5mm earphone output on the rear panel on or off.

• Speaker: Turn the TV’s internal speakers on or off.

• Ambient Light Sensor: Turn the sensor on/off. When on, it automatically measures ambient light and adjusts the backlight level based on the settings below.

• Ambient Sensor Value: Displays the current ambient light level measured by the sensor.

• Auto Backlight Floor: Sets the level to which the backlight will be lowered when the ambient light level falls below the threshold.

• Backlight Sensor Floor: Sets the threshold for the automatic backlight adjustment.

To access parental controls and hospitality settings, press MENU on your remote, then select the Lock icon. You will need to enter a password (default is 0000) to access these features.

System Lock Mode

When System Lock is activated, you can access the following features:

• Change Password: Allows you to change the four-digit password from the default 0000.

• Input Block: Allows you to block specific inputs (e.g., AV, HDMI1). Accessing a blocked input will require entering the password.

Hotel Mode

Activating Hotel Mode enables several hospitality-focused features:

• Picture Mode / Sound Mode: Set a default picture and sound mode (e.g., Dynamic, Music) that cannot be changed without re-entering the Hotel Mode menu.

• Key Lock: Deactivates the side-panel controls on the TV except for the power button.

• Search Lock: Prevents activation of the Auto Scan feature without entering the password.

• Power On Source: Selects the default input source that will be active when the TV is turned on.

• Air/Cable: Locks the tuner to either Air or Cable mode.

• Power On Channel: Sets a default TV channel that will be selected every time the TV is turned on.

• Power On Volume: Sets a default volume level for when the TV is turned on.

• Max Volume: Sets a maximum volume level that the TV cannot exceed.

• Clear All: Returns all of the above Hotel Mode adjustments to factory default settings.

Using the USB input on the rear panel of the TV, you can access material stored on a USB stick.

1. Press the SOURCE button on the remote or the INPUT button on the side control panel.

2. Use the arrow buttons to highlight USB and press enter.

3. On the main USB menu, use the arrow buttons to highlight the type of media you want to access: PHOTO, MUSIC, or TEXT. Press enter.

4. The TV will display the files or folders on the USB stick. Navigate to the file you wish to open and press enter.

Viewing Pictures: Highlight a picture and press enter to view it. When viewing, you can press the POS button on the remote to start and pause a slideshow. Use the MENU button to access slideshow options like transitions.

Listening to Music: Highlight a music file (MP3 or WAV) and press enter to play it. A screen will appear with data about the audio file.

If there is no picture on your SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD, check the following:

• Power cord is connected correctly.

• Power is turned on.

• The video cable is connected correctly.

• You have selected the proper input signal source.

If you have checked the above and the issue persists, unplug the TV for at least 1 hour to perform a Hard Reset.

For abnormal colors, first check that you have matched the colors on the cable to the connector (e.g., red cable to red colored port).

For a picture that is too dark, adjust your contrast, brightness, and backlight settings from the OSD Picture menu.

If you have audio but no picture, please check the following:

• Make sure both the audio and video cables are connected.

• If using the TV tuner, the signal strength must not be lower than 65 percent.

• Try unplugging the TV for at least 1 hour to perform a Hard Reset.

If you have picture but no audio, please check the following:

• Make sure the audio cable is connected.

• Readjust your volume via the remote control and ensure it is not muted.

• If using the TV tuner, the signal must not be lower than 65 percent.

If the remote control does not work, try resetting it:

1. Turn off the TV and unplug it from the socket.

2. Remove the batteries from the remote for 30 minutes.

3. Press the remote buttons and the power button randomly for 2 full seconds, then reinstall the batteries.

Also, ensure the TV’s remote sensor (housed with the power indicator light) is not blocked and there is a clear line of sight from the remote to the sensor.

If you are not receiving enough channels, the TV tuner signal may be too weak. The signal must not be lower than 65 percent.

• Try changing the direction of your antenna and re-scan the channels.

• If you have cable, call the cable provider and ask to have your signal strength checked.

• If you are using HDMI or a digital TV channel, press the ASPECT button on the remote to switch to 16:9 format.

• If you are using VGA from a computer, use the computer’s video controls to adjust the image to fit the screen.

• If you are watching regular 4:3 TV or 4:3 signals from a VCR or DVD player in 480i resolution, use the Aspect button to switch to 16:9 to fill the screen. However, this will distort the picture.

The SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD features a power-saving mode which will automatically turn off the TV if there is no signal provided for 15 minutes. Ensure your source device is powered on and sending a signal.

Cleaning the LCD Panel:

1. With your TV turned off, gently wipe the surface of the display panel with a damp (with water) microfiber, cotton, or flannel cloth. Do not use tissues, rags, sponges, or paper towels as they may damage the screen.

2. If the panel is very dirty, you can mix equal parts of isopropyl alcohol and distilled water in a clean spray bottle. Spray the mixture onto the cloth (do not spray directly on the panel) and gently clean the panel.

When the TV is not in use, keep it covered with the SunBriteTV Outdoor Dust Cover to protect the LCD panel from harmful UV rays and wind-blown objects.

Cleaning the Fiber Filter:

The fiber filter is located on the back of the unit, inside the intake and exhaust vents. Over time, it collects dirt and must be cleaned.

CAUTION! NEVER SPRAY OR DIRECT A HOSE INTO THE VENT AREA OF THE TV.

1. Disconnect AC power to the TV display before servicing the filters.

2. Release the fiber filter cage by removing the two 6-32 fastening screws.

3. Remove the filter cage by pulling on the tab. It is a tight fit, so you may need to gently pull on the vent openings to work it free.

4. Pull the fiber filter out of the cage and wash it with mild detergent and warm water. After rinsing, let the filter dry completely before reinstalling.

5. Put the fiber filter cage back into the rear bezel and secure it with the two screws.

When programming a DirecTV, local cable universal remote control, or Control system, you may find that SunBriteTV is not on the list of TV manufacturers. If that is the case, your SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD supports SONY’s universal remote code.

SunBriteTV LCD screens are manufactured with rigorous standards. However, the LCD screen may have minor defects that appear as a small bright or dark pixel. This is common to all LCD screens.

• Bright dots are dots that appear bright and unchanged in size when the screen displays a black pattern.

• Dark dots are dots that appear dark and unchanged in size when the screen displays a pure red, green, or blue pattern.

Your SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD will be replaced under warranty if it meets one of the following criteria:

• A total of 7 defective pixels, including both bright dots and dark dots are present.

• 2 or more pairs of adjacent bright dots are present.

• 3 adjacent bright dots are present.

• 3 adjacent dark dots are present.

To qualify for replacement, a defective LCD screen must be reported to SunBriteTV within 60 days from the day the customer receives the TV.

The Internal Thermostatically-Controlled Heater keeps the unit warm in freezing temperatures. It activates automatically when the internal temperature sensor reads a temperature inside the unit of 32° F or lower. The heater remains on until the internal temperature rises to at least 42° F. The heater allows the TV to safely remain in temperatures as low as -24° F.

Note: In order for the automatic heater to work properly, your SUNBRITETV SB-4917HD must have power applied at all times.

Extreme Climate Warning: If temperatures below -24° F are expected, we recommend that you bring your SunBriteTV inside to prevent damage to the LCD screen.

To install an IR Emitter for use with a control system:

1. The end of the Emitter is to be mounted in front of the IR Emitter Window inside the cable compartment.

2. Place the emitter on the white tie-down block and use the tie-down to secure it in place.

3. Place the emitter cable over the bottom of the cable compartment door gasket and connect the other end of the emitter to the appropriate control block.

Note: It may be necessary to use a small amount of glue or RTV (silicon) to secure the IR emitter in place, as most IR emitters’ dual-stick tape may not adhere well to powder-coated surfaces.

4. Follow the instructions on page 8 of the manual to close the cable door.

The RS232 communication specifications are 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity. Commands do not require a carriage return or line feed.
