To ensure safety and the longevity of your SUNBRITETV SB-4217HD, follow these critical guidelines:

The TV must be plugged into a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) receptacle.

The TV and the GFCI receptacle must be installed no less than 5 feet from any body of water, such as a pool or spa. Check local building codes for proper installation guidelines.

Adequate ventilation must be maintained to protect the television from overheating. There must be at least 1.5 inches of space on all sides.

When using the TV outdoors, you must use a GFCI-protected AC outlet with an in-use waterproof cover.

Do not install the unit near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.

Carrying the television requires at least two people.

The TV should be installed so the screen is not facing direct sunlight, or can be easily turned away from direct sunlight.

Ideal placement is in an area where the TV is shaded by trees, landscape, structures, or under a patio cover or gazebo.

If the sun shines directly on the screen for long periods of time, dark areas may develop. This is a normal reaction for the LCD panel and will not cause damage. Turning the screen away from the sun or applying shade will cause these areas to disappear quickly.

Position the TV for optimum performance during the time of day when you do most of your viewing, as the position of the sun changes throughout the day.

Do not connect the power source before making connections. The internal connect source is inside the Cable Cover located on the back of the unit.

Step 1. Unscrew the two Thumb Screws on the cable access door and pull the cover towards you.

Step 2. Route the cables to the proper inputs and place the cable cords over the Rubber Sealing Gasket on the bottom of the cable access opening.

Step 3. Ensure the cables are routed past the indentation on the bottom of the door. Cable cannot be routed through the top or sides of the rubber sealing gasket.

Step 4. Close the cover, press firmly, and tighten the Thumb Screws securely.

The following ports are available on the SUNBRITETV SB-4217HD rear panel:

1 and 2. Service Ports: These are for factory service only; do not use.

3. USB power port: 5vdc at 3.5a auxiliary power supply.

4. 1.3mm Power Jack: 5vdc at 3.5a auxiliary power supply.

5. HDMI 1 and 2: Connects to devices using HDMI cables (Blu-ray, HD cable boxes, etc.). Sound signal must be PCM for the TV to decode digital audio.

6. VGA Stereo Input: Use a 3.5mm mini-jack audio cable to provide audio when using a PC or DVI video device.

7. VGA: Connection port for PC video using a VGA cable.

8. Component 1 (Lower): Connection for DVD players or satellite boxes using component cables (Green, Blue, Red for video; White and Red for audio).

9. Component 2 (Upper): Secondary component cable connection.

10. AV 1 (CVBS or S-Video): Connects to devices using composite (yellow plug) or S-Video cables. Do not connect both simultaneously.

11. Digital Audio Out: Orange SPDIF connector for sending bit-stream or PCM digital sound to a home theater receiver.

12. ATSC/NTSC/QAM Coax Input: Connection for digital or analog cable (without a box) or over-the-air antennas.

13. IR Window: Rear IR receiver for installing an IR emitter inside the cable compartment.

14. Analog Audio Out (Variable): Connects headphones or amplified speakers via a 3.5mm headphone jack.

15. 5-pin DIN Jack: Connection for the SunBriteTV speaker bar.

16. 2.5mm Power Jack: 12v at 3amps auxiliary power supply.

17. RS232: For remote control using RS232 commands.

Step 1. Ensure the power to the TV is turned off.

Step 2. Connect the Coaxial RF cable from your antenna or cable source to the ATSC/NTSC port on the back of the TV.

Step 3. Turn on the TV.

Step 4. Select TV (Air) for antenna or TV (Cable) for digital cable using the Source button on the remote or the side panel.

Step 5. Use the On-Screen Display to scan for channels. This process typically takes 3 to 5 minutes.

The side panel of the SUNBRITETV SB-4217HD features the following buttons:

Power: Press once to turn the TV on; press again to turn it off.

Input: Switches between different TV sources. In the OSD menu, it acts as the Enter button.

Menu: Activates the On-Screen Display (OSD). In a sub-menu, it returns to the previous menu level.

CH+ / CH-: Changes the TV channel up or down. In the OSD, these function as up and down navigation controls.

Vol+ / Vol-: Increases or decreases the volume. In the OSD, these function as left and right navigation and adjustment controls.

Step 1. Press the Menu button on the remote or side panel to open the OSD.

Step 2. Use the arrow buttons (up/down) on the remote or the CH+/CH- buttons on the side panel to move the cursor to the desired menu item.

Step 3. Use the arrow buttons (left/right) on the remote or the VOL+/VOL- buttons on the side panel to make adjustments.

Step 4. Press Menu to go back to a previous level or Exit to close the OSD entirely.

Cleaning the LCD Panel: With the TV turned off, gently wipe the surface with a damp microfiber, cotton, or flannel cloth. Use only water. Do not use tissues, paper towels, or sponges as they may scratch the screen. For heavy dirt, use a mixture of equal parts isopropyl alcohol and distilled water sprayed onto the cloth, not directly on the panel.

Dust Cover: Keep the TV covered with the SunBriteTV Outdoor Dust Cover when not in use to protect the panel from UV rays and wind-blown objects.

Snow and Ice: Use a soft brush and towel to remove snow and ice from the unit.

General Cleaning: Remove dirt and salt deposits frequently using a rinsed cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasives, or solvents.

Warning: Never spray or direct a hose into the vent area of the TV.

The fiber filters collect dirt over time and must be cleaned periodically. They are located inside the intake and exhaust vents at the top and bottom of the TV.

Step 1. Remove the two 6-32 fastening screws from the filter cage.

Step 2. Remove the filter cage by pulling on the tab. You may need to gently pull on the vent openings to work the cage out.

Step 3. Pull the fiber filter out and wash it with mild detergent and warm water.

Step 4. Let the filter dry completely before replacing it.

Step 5. Reinsert the filter and cage, then secure it with the screws.

The SUNBRITETV SB-4217HD includes an internal thermostatically-controlled heater that keeps the unit warm in freezing temperatures.

The heater activates automatically when the internal temperature sensor reads 32 degrees Fahrenheit or lower.

The heater remains on until the internal temperature reaches at least 42 degrees Fahrenheit.

The heater provides a 20-degree Fahrenheit temperature rise, allowing the TV to safely remain in temperatures as low as -24 degrees Fahrenheit.

Important: The TV must have power applied at all times for the automatic heater to function. If temperatures below -24 degrees Fahrenheit are expected, it is recommended to bring the TV inside.

The SUNBRITETV SB-4217HD may be eligible for replacement under warranty if the LCD screen meets any of the following criteria within 60 days of receipt:

A total of 7 defective pixels (including both bright and dark dots) are present.

2 or more pairs of adjacent bright dots are present.

3 adjacent bright dots are present.

3 adjacent dark dots are present.

The screen should be examined under normal operating conditions in its native resolution, at a 90-degree viewing angle, from a distance of approximately 20 inches.
