Because the STIHL FS 360 C is a high-speed, fast-cutting power tool, special safety precautions must be observed to reduce the risk of personal injury. You must be in good physical condition and mental health, and not under the influence of any substance that might impair vision, dexterity, or judgment. Always wear proper protective apparel, including eye protection, heavy-duty work gloves, sturdy boots, and long pants. Never modify the tool in any way. Only use attachments supplied or specifically approved by STIHL for this model.

The STIHL FS 360 C requires a mixture of unleaded gasoline and two-stroke air-cooled engine oil at a ratio of 50:1. Only mix sufficient fuel for a few days of work, not to exceed 30 days of storage. When fueling, ensure you are in a well-ventilated area, outdoors. Shut off the engine and allow it to cool before refueling. Remove the fuel cap carefully to release pressure slowly. After fueling, move at least 10 feet (3 meters) from the fueling spot before starting the engine.

Place the STIHL FS 360 C on firm, level ground. Press the manual fuel pump bulb at least five times, even if it is already filled with fuel. For a cold start, turn the choke knob to the cold start position. Hold the unit firmly on the ground with your left hand, ensuring the cutting attachment is not touching the ground. Pull the starter grip steadily with your right hand. As soon as the engine runs, press the throttle trigger lockout and open the throttle to move the choke knob to the run position.

Mowing heads should only be used on the STIHL FS 360 C when it is equipped with the proper line-limiting blade in the deflector to keep the nylon line at the correct length. To advance fresh line on STIHL AutoCut models, tap the rotating mowing head against the ground while the engine is running. Do not use nylon lines longer than the intended length, as this increases the load on the engine and may cause the clutch to slip.

Use a sharpening file to sharpen dull blades on the STIHL FS 360 C. For more serious wear or nicks, resharpen with a grinder or have the work done by a dealer. Sharpen frequently and take away as little metal as possible; two or three strokes of the file are usually sufficient. Resharpen the teeth uniformly and do not alter the original contour of the blade.

The STIHL FS 360 C must be balanced according to the cutting attachment used. With the unit suspended from the harness, observe how it balances and adjust the attachment point on the drive tube as necessary so that the machine is balanced correctly for comfortable operation and reduced fatigue.

Do not remove the filter cover or replace the air filter on the STIHL FS 360 C as long as there is no noticeable loss of engine power. If power is lost, loosen the screws, remove the cover, and remove the pleated paper filter element. Check the filter for damage and replace it if it is dirty or damaged. Clean away any loose dirt from around the filter housing before installing the new filter and reattaching the cover.

Only the following cutting attachments, deflectors/limit stops, and harness combinations are permitted for use on the STIHL FS 360 C:

Required Deflector/Limit Stop: Deflectors 13 (for mowing heads) or 14 (for metal attachments 6-8). Limit stops 15 (for saw blades 9-10) or 16 (for saw blades 11-12).
