BLUETOOTH wireless technology operates within a range of about 10 meters (30 feet). Maximum communication range may vary depending on the presence of obstacles (people, metal objects, walls, etc.) or the electromagnetic environment.

The antenna is built into the unit. The BLUETOOTH communication range can be improved by turning the connected BLUETOOTH device to face the antenna of the unit. Obstacles between the antenna of the connected device and the antenna of this unit will affect the BLUETOOTH connection. In that case, point the antenna of the connected device toward the antenna of this unit.

Under some conditions, BLUETOOTH communications may be disabled, or noise or audio dropout may occur:

There is a person between the unit and the BLUETOOTH device. This situation may be improved by placing the BLUETOOTH device so that it faces the antenna of the unit.

There is an obstacle, such as a metal object or a wall, between the unit and the BLUETOOTH device.

A Wi-Fi device or microwave oven is in use, or microwaves are being generated near the unit.

Because BLUETOOTH devices and Wi-Fi (IEEE802.11b/g/n) use the same frequency (2.4 GHz), microwave interference may occur, resulting in noise, audio dropout, or the inability to connect if this unit is used near a Wi-Fi device. If this occurs, perform the following:

Use this unit at least 10 m (30 ft) away from the Wi-Fi device.

If this unit is used within 10 m (30 ft) of a Wi-Fi device, turn off the Wi-Fi device.

Install this unit and the BLUETOOTH device as close to each other as possible.

Microwaves emitting from a BLUETOOTH device may affect the operation of electronic medical devices. Turn off this unit and other BLUETOOTH devices in the following locations, as it may cause an accident:

in hospitals, near priority seating in trains, locations where inflammable gas is present, or near automatic doors or fire alarms.

When you use the unit as headphones on an airplane, follow the instructions of the flight attendants, or check the airline’s policy on the use of products with a wireless function.

Do not use the unit as wired headphones when the unit is not powered on.

When you use the unit as wired headphones, use only the supplied headphone cable. Make sure that the headphone cable is firmly inserted.

Do not apply weight or pressure to this unit for long periods, including when it is stored, as it may cause deformation.

If you experience discomfort while using the unit, stop using it immediately.

This unit is designed to hold the ear pad with the sound duct placed deeply in your ear canal. If the ear pad is not attached properly, it may come off and remain in your ear while in use. This may cause injury.

This unit supports security capabilities that comply with the BLUETOOTH standard to provide a secure connection when BLUETOOTH wireless technology is used, but security may not be sufficient depending on the setting. Be careful when communicating using BLUETOOTH wireless technology.

Sony assumes no responsibility for any damages or loss resulting from information leaks that occur during BLUETOOTH communications.

Connection with all BLUETOOTH devices cannot be guaranteed. Devices to be connected with this unit must comply with the BLUETOOTH standard prescribed by Bluetooth SIG, Inc., and must be authenticated.

Depending on the specifications of the device, you cannot connect or some operations may be different.

The situation may be improved by changing the wireless playback quality settings or fixing the wireless transmission mode to SBC on the transmitting device. For details, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the transmitting device.

If you are using a smartphone, the situation may be improved by closing unneeded apps or restarting the smartphone.

This unit supports normal incoming calls only. Calling apps for smartphones and computers are not supported.

This unit can be charged using USB only.

A computer with a USB port is required for charging.

When charging, the unit cannot be turned on, and the BLUETOOTH and noise canceling functions cannot be used.

If the unit is not used for a long time, the rechargeable battery may become depleted quickly. The battery will be able to hold a charge properly after it has been depleted and recharged several times.

If you store the unit for a long time, charge the battery once every half year to prevent over-discharge.

If the length of time you can use the unit becomes extremely short, the rechargeable battery should be replaced with a new one.

Static electricity accumulated in the body may cause mild tingling in your ears. To minimize the effect, wear clothes made from natural materials.

Because the headphones are of a high-density enclosure, forcing them against your ears may result in eardrum damage. Pressing the headphones against your ears may produce a diaphragm click sound. This is not a malfunction.

Do not subject the unit to excessive shock.

The ear pads may deteriorate due to long-term storage or use.

The unit is not waterproof. If water or foreign objects enter the unit, it may result in fire or electric shock. If water or a foreign object enters the unit, stop use immediately.

Do not leave this unit in a place exposed to direct sunlight, heat or moisture.

When you use this unit, you can hear the sound of the unit operating depending on the environment. It is not a malfunction.

After you have finished using the unit, put the unit in a place away from static electricity.

If you experience discomfort after using the unit, stop using the unit immediately.

Do not disassemble or modify this unit.

Optimal replacement earpads are sold separately. You are advised that you have them changed as early as possible before the material characteristics deteriorate.

The noise canceling circuit actually senses outside noise with built-in microphones and sends an equal-but-opposite canceling signal to the headphones.

The noise canceling effect may not be pronounced in a very quiet environment, or some noise may be heard.

The noise canceling effect may vary depending on how you wear the unit.

The noise canceling function works for noise in the low frequency band primarily. Although noise is reduced, it is not canceled completely.

When you use the unit in a train or a car, noise may occur depending on street conditions.

Mobile phones may cause interference and noise. Should this occur, locate the unit further away from the mobile phone.

Do not cover the microphones of the headphones with your hands. The noise canceling function or the Ambient Sound Mode may not work properly, or a beeping sound (howling) may occur. In these cases, take your hands off the microphones of the headphones.

To clean the unit, wipe with a soft dry cloth. If the unit is particularly dirty, soak a cloth in a dilute solution of neutral detergent, and wring it well before wiping. Do not use solvents such as thinner, benzene, or alcohol, as they may damage the surface.

Do not place this unit in a place where it is exposed to humidity, dust, soot or steam, or in a car or a place subject to direct sunlight. It may cause a malfunction.

Using the BLUETOOTH device may not function on mobile phones, depending on radio wave conditions and location where the equipment is used.

Do not listen with this unit at high volume.

For traffic safety, do not use while driving or cycling.

Do not use the unit in places where it would be dangerous if you are unable to hear ambient sound, such as at railroad crossings, train station platforms, and construction sites.

The ear pads may deteriorate due to long-term storage or use. If the ear pads tear, this may cause injury.

If the unit does not turn on or charging cannot be done, please try the following:

Make sure that the micro-USB cable is connected firmly to the unit and the USB AC adaptor or computer.

Make sure that the USB AC adaptor is connected firmly to the AC outlet or the computer is turned on.

When the computer enters standby (sleep) or hibernation mode, charging cannot be completed. In this case, change the computer settings, and start charging again.

If you connect the unit to a computer through a USB hub, it may not be charged correctly. Connect the unit directly to the computer.

The recommended ambient temperature for charging is between 5 °C and 35 °C (41 °F and 95 °F). Charging may stop if the temperature is outside this range.

If the sound is distorted or skips frequently, check the following:

When the input is set to high, the sound may be distorted. In this case, lower the volume.

If the sound skips frequently:

The situation may be improved by changing the wireless playback quality settings or fixing the wireless transmission mode to SBC on the transmitting device.

If you are using a smartphone, the situation may be improved by closing unneeded apps or restarting the smartphone.

If you are listening to music from a computer, close unneeded applications or windows and restart the computer.

The sound quality is poor:

If your BLUETOOTH device supports AAC, aptX, or LDAC, select it to listen to music in high quality. If not, make sure that the BLUETOOTH device is transmitting in SBC.

If pairing cannot be done, try the following:

Bring this unit and the BLUETOOTH device closer together.

If your BLUETOOTH device does not support displays such as a smartphone, you may not be able to pair the unit with the BLUETOOTH device. If so, place this unit and the BLUETOOTH device within 1 m (3 ft) of each other and try the pairing procedure again.

Delete the pairing information of this unit from the BLUETOOTH device and perform the pairing again.

If you feel the noise canceling effect is not sufficient, please check the following:

Make sure that the noise canceling function is turned on.

The noise canceling function is optimized automatically by analyzing the wearing condition and usage environment with the NC OPTIMIZER function. Press and hold the NC/AMBIENT button for about 2 seconds to activate this function.

Change the size of the ear pads if they do not fit your ears. The noise canceling effect may be reduced if you do not wear the unit correctly.

If you cannot hear the other party or they say your voice is too quiet/loud:

Turn on the unit.

Turn up the volume if it is too low.

Check that the unit and the BLUETOOTH device (e.g., smartphone) are connected using HFP or HSP BLUETOOTH profile.

If you are listening to music with the unit, stop playback and then answer the incoming call.

If the other party says your voice is too quiet or too loud, adjust the microphone volume on the BLUETOOTH phone.

If a smartphone cannot be connected, delete the pairing information of this unit from the smartphone and perform the pairing again.
