To properly wear your SONY WF-C710NSA headset, follow these steps:

1. Put the headset units into your ears. Place the headset unit with the L-mark into your left ear and the unit with the R-mark into your right ear. The left headset unit has a tactile dot (A).

2. Be careful not to touch the touch sensor (B) when you put the headset units into your ears.

3. Adjust the fit of the headset units to your ears by twisting the headset unit to slide the earbud tip deep into your ear canal.

For proper sound quality, volume, noise canceling, and call quality, it is important that the headset is worn correctly. If the fit is not correct, you may not obtain the correct sound qualities. If you have issues, try changing the earbud tips to a size that fits more snugly.

You can operate your SONY WF-C710NSA headset by tapping the touch sensor on the left and right units. The default functions are as follows:

Left Unit:

Tap once: Switch between the noise canceling function and Ambient Sound Mode.

Tap 4 or more times: Lower the volume.

Hold your finger: Use the Quick Attention mode.

Right Unit:

Tap once: Play or pause music.

Tap twice: Skip to the beginning of the next track.

Tap 3 times: Skip to the beginning of the previous track or the current track during playback.

Tap 4 or more times: Increase the volume.

Hold your finger: Use or cancel the voice assist function (Google™ app or Siri).

You can change the function assignments to the touch sensors using the “Sound Connect” app.

Your SONY WF-C710NSA will provide the following voice guidances depending on its status:

“Pairing”

Heard when the headset enters pairing mode automatically (e.g., first time pairing) or when you manually set it to pairing mode.

“Low battery”

Heard when the remaining battery charge of the headset is low.

“Battery is empty”

Heard when the headset is automatically turning off due to a low battery.

“Voice guidance test”

Heard when setting the voice guidance volume.

“Launch the Sound Connect to activate the Service Link.”

Heard when Service Link is disabled and you try to use Quick Access.

“App assigned to the Quick Access is not launched on the mobile device”

Heard when you use Quick Access while the corresponding app is not launched.

Note: You can use the “Sound Connect” app to change voice guidance settings such as language and volume.

After opening the package for your SONY WF-C710NSA, check that all of the following items are included:

Note: M-sized earbud tips come attached to the headset at the time of purchase. The size of the earbud tips can be determined by the number of dotted lines inside the bottom of the tips: XS size has 1 line, M size has 3 lines, and XL size has 5 lines.

If the earbud tip sizes do not match or the SONY WF-C710NSA headset is not worn correctly, sound quality and noise canceling effects may be impacted. Follow these steps to replace the earbud tips:

1. Remove the earbud tip.

Hold the headset unit and twist the earbud tip while rotating it to pull it out. Do not pinch the end of the earbud tip when removing it.

2. Attach the new earbud tip.

Push the earbud tip firmly onto the sound conduit (sound output tube) on the headset so that the earbud tip covers the inner end of the sound conduit. Do not attach the earbud tip in a loose or skewed manner.

If the earbud tip is not completely attached, it may be removed from the headset, and sound quality, noise canceling effects, and wearability may be impaired. When changing tips, try sizes from larger to smaller to find the best fit for your ears.

The indicator on the SONY WF-C710NSA charging case shows various statuses:

Indication of Remaining Battery Charge (when lid is opened/closed):

Lights up in green for about 6 seconds: Headset battery is 91% or higher, or charging case battery is 21% or higher.

Lights up in orange for about 6 seconds: Headset battery is between 1% and 90%, or charging case battery is between 6% and 20%.

Turns off: Headset battery is less than 1%, or charging case battery is less than 5%.

Charging Status:

Lights up in orange: The headset or charging case is charging.

Turns off: Charging is complete.

Repeatedly flashes twice in orange at 1-second intervals: Abnormal charging temperature.

Repeatedly flashes slowly in orange at 0.5-second intervals: A charging error has occurred.

Bluetooth Connection Status:

Repeatedly flashes twice in blue: The headset is in pairing mode.

Flashes 10 times in blue: The connection process is completed.

Other Statuses:

Repeatedly flashes in orange for up to 5 seconds: The headset is ready to begin the reset or initialization process.

Flashes 4 times in green: The initialization process is complete.

The SONY WF-C710NSA headset has built-in IR sensors that detect when the units are inserted or removed from your ears. This feature enables the following behaviors:

When the headset is worn:

You can use the touch sensors to perform actions like playing music and making calls.

You will hear notifications or voice guidance corresponding to the operating procedure and status.

When the headset is removed:

If you are listening to music with both headset units, playback will pause if one or both units are removed. Playback resumes when the headset is worn again.

If the headset units are not worn for about 15 minutes after being removed from the charging case, they will turn off automatically to save the battery.

To prevent unintended actions, the touch sensors do not respond to taps when they are removed from your ears.

You can change the settings for automatic pause/resume and auto power-off in the “Sound Connect” app.

Yes, you can use a single headset unit of your SONY WF-C710NSA by itself. Simply remove one headset unit from the charging case. Only the unit that has been removed will turn on.

If you later put on the other headset unit, the connection will be automatically established between the left and right units, and you will hear audio on both.

When listening with only one headset unit, you will hear a monaural sound with the left and right channels mixed. You can also talk hands-free with only one unit.

Note that when using only one unit, be sure to place the other unit back into the charging case.

The main actions for the touch sensors on your SONY WF-C710NSA are as follows. To operate, tap the center of the touch sensor with the pad of your index finger. When tapping multiple times, do so quickly with an interval of about 0.3 seconds between taps.

Quick Access allows you to play content from a corresponding app by tapping the touch sensor. In the factory settings, this is performed using the left unit. Follow these steps to use Quick Access on your SONY WF-C710NSA:

1. Put the headset units into your ears and connect the headset to your smartphone via Bluetooth.

2. Launch the “Sound Connect” app and assign the services you want to link to Quick Access. You can assign different services to [Double Tap] and [Triple Tap].

3. Launch the app of the service you assigned for Quick Access on your smartphone.

4. Tap the touch sensor on the left unit to use Quick Access. Double-tap or triple-tap to run the corresponding service assigned in step 2.

Follow these steps to charge your SONY WF-C710NSA:

1. Set the headset units into the charging case.

Put the left headset unit back into the left hole and the right unit into the right hole of the charging case. Each unit will be set to the correct position by the built-in magnet. The indicator on the case will light up in orange or green, and charging will start. Close the charging case lid.

2. Connect the charging case to an AC outlet.

Use a commercially available USB Type-C cable and a USB AC adaptor to connect the charging case to a power source. Charging starts on both the headset and the charging case, and the indicator on the case lights up in orange. When charging is complete, the indicator turns off. Remove the USB Type-C cable.

The required time for a full charge is about 1.5 hours for the headset and about 3.5 hours for both the headset and charging case together. A rechargeable battery is built into the charging case, so you can charge the headset on the go without a power supply if the case is charged in advance.

You can check the remaining battery charge of your SONY WF-C710NSA in several ways:

On an iPhone (iOS 13 or later) or Android smartphone (OS 8.1 or later):

When the headset is connected via Bluetooth HFP (Hands-free Profile), you can see the remaining battery charge of the headset on your phone’s screen. This is typically shown in the status bar or Bluetooth settings.

On the charging case:

When you remove the headset units from the case, or open/close the lid with no units inside, the indicator light will show the case’s remaining charge. If it lights up orange, the charge is between 5% and 20%. If it does not light up, the charge is less than 5%.

With voice guidance:

If the headset’s battery becomes low, you will hear the voice guidance say, “Low battery”. When the battery is completely empty, you will hear “Battery is empty” and the headset will turn off.

With the “Sound Connect” app:

The app will display the remaining battery charge of both the headset units and the charging case.

Turning On the SONY WF-C710NSA:

From the charging case: Simply remove the headset units from the charging case. They will turn on automatically.

When not in the charging case: If the headset has turned off automatically (after 15 minutes of not being worn), you can turn it on by tapping the touch sensor or by putting the headset units into your ears.

Turning Off the SONY WF-C710NSA:

Using the charging case: Place the headset units back into the charging case and close the lid. The headset will turn off.

Automatic power-off: The headset will turn off automatically if it is not worn for about 15 minutes after being removed from the charging case.

To pair your SONY WF-C710NSA with a device for the first time, or to pair an additional device, follow these steps:

For the first pairing after purchase:

1. Remove both headset units from the charging case.

2. The headset will turn on and enter pairing mode automatically. You will hear the voice guidance say, “Pairing”.

3. On your device (smartphone, computer, etc.), turn on Bluetooth and select “WF-C710N” from the list of available devices to complete the pairing.

To pair a second or subsequent device:

1. Set the headset units into the charging case.

2. With the charging case lid open, press and hold the pairing button on the back of the case for about 5 seconds or more.

3. The indicator on the charging case will repeatedly flash blue twice in a row, and the headset will enter pairing mode. You will hear the voice guidance say, “Pairing”.

4. On your device, turn on Bluetooth and select “WF-C710N” from the list of available devices to complete the pairing.

If a Passkey is required, enter “0000”. The headset can be paired with up to 8 devices.

The SONY WF-C710NSA headset can be connected to two devices at the same time, allowing you to switch music playback or handle calls from either device. To set this up:

1. Pair the headset with the two devices you want to use, respectively.

2. Operate the first device to establish a Bluetooth connection with the headset.

3. Operate the second device to establish a Bluetooth connection with the headset.

Once connected to both devices, you can:

Wait for calls from 2 smartphones: Listen to music on one phone and still receive a call from either phone.

Switch music playback: To play music from the second device, stop playback on the first device, then start playback on the second. The audio will switch automatically.

The multipoint connection setting can also be managed using the “Sound Connect” app.

You can easily switch between noise canceling and Ambient Sound Mode on your SONY WF-C710NSA:

1. Put the headset units into your ears. The noise canceling function is enabled automatically by default when the headset is turned on.

2. Tap the touch sensor on the left headset unit to change the settings.

Each time you tap, the function switches as follows:

From Noise Canceling ON -> Ambient Sound Mode ON: You will hear a notification sound. Ambient Sound Mode allows you to hear surrounding sounds through the built-in microphones.

From Ambient Sound Mode ON -> Noise Canceling ON: You will hear a notification sound. The noise canceling function will be re-enabled to reduce ambient noise.

You can also use the “Sound Connect” app to customize the settings for both modes, including disabling them completely or enabling Voice focus in Ambient Sound Mode to make voices clearer.

Quick Attention Mode on the SONY WF-C710NSA allows you to quickly hear ambient sound, such as train announcements, without removing the headset. This function turns down music, call sounds, and ringtones to make ambient sound easier to hear.

To activate Quick Attention Mode:

Hold your finger to the touch sensor on the left unit. The mode is active only while you are touching the sensor.

To deactivate Quick Attention Mode:

Release your finger from the touch sensor. The audio will return to its previous state.

You can manage phone calls hands-free with your SONY WF-C710NSA headset.

To receive an incoming call:

When you hear a ring tone, tap the touch sensor on the left or right headset unit twice quickly (with an interval of about 0.3 seconds) to answer the call.

To end a call:

Tap the touch sensor on the left or right headset unit twice quickly to finish the call.

To make a call:

Operate your smartphone to make a call. The dial tone will be heard from the headset. You can talk using the microphones on the left and right headset units.

To cancel an outgoing call:

Tap the touch sensor twice quickly to cancel the call before it is connected.

To reject an incoming call:

Hold your finger to the touch sensor for about 2 seconds or more to reject the call.

Perform regular maintenance on your SONY WF-C710NSA to keep it in good condition:

1. Clean the headset units:

Dust and dirt on the exterior can be wiped off with pure water type wet wipes. Do not use wipes containing alcohol, thinner, or benzene. Use a soft dry cloth to wipe off any water that gets on the units.

2. Clean the IR sensors:

If the IR sensors are dirty, wearing detection may not work properly. Wipe any dirt off the sensors (A) with a soft dry cloth.

3. Clean the charging ports:

If moisture or debris is left on the charging ports of the headset (B) or charging case (C), it can cause corrosion. Gently clean the ports with a soft dry cloth or cotton swab after use.

4. Clean the sound output holes:

Use a cloth moistened with water and wrung out tightly to remove dirt like earwax from the sound output hole (D) and groove (E). Be careful not to push dirt deeper into the unit.

5. Dry the headset:

After cleaning, leave the headset to dry thoroughly at room temperature before placing it back in the charging case.

The SONY WF-C710NSA headset has a water resistance rating of IPX4, which protects against water splashing from any direction. The charging case is not water resistant. If the headset units get wet, follow these steps:

1. Use a soft dry cloth to wipe off any water that gets on the headset units.

2. Remove the earbud tips, turn the sound conduits (sound output tubes) downward, and shake several times to get the water out.

3. Turn the microphone part or air hole part downward and gently tap it about 20 times on a dry cloth to remove any water collected inside.

4. Leave the headset to dry at room temperature.

Do not charge the headset if the units or charging ports are wet with water or sweat, as this can cause corrosion. Always wipe off any moisture and allow them to dry completely before charging.

If you are having problems with your SONY WF-C710NSA, please follow this process:

1. Set the headset units into the charging case, close the charging case lid once, then open it again and remove the headset units from the charging case. This can often resolve minor issues.

2. Restart the device you are connected to, such as your computer or smartphone.

3. If the problem continues, try resetting the headset.

4. If resetting does not solve the issue, initialize the headset to restore it to factory settings.

If your SONY WF-C710NSA headset cannot be turned on or operated, resetting it may help. This action will not delete pairing information.

1. Set both headset units into the charging case. Leave the charging case lid open.

2. Press and hold the reset button on the back of the charging case for about 20 seconds or more.

3. After about 15 seconds, the indicator on the charging case will flash in orange for about 5 seconds. Continue holding the button.

4. Check that the indicator turns off, and then release your finger. The headset will be reset.

Important: Do not release your finger while the indicator is flashing orange. If you do, the headset will be initialized instead, which deletes all pairing information.

Initializing the SONY WF-C710NSA headset restores it to factory settings and deletes all Bluetooth pairing information. Do this if the headset does not operate correctly even after a reset.

1. Set both headset units into the charging case. Leave the charging case lid open.

2. Press and hold the initialize button on the back of the charging case for about 15 seconds or more.

3. The indicator on the charging case will flash in orange for about 5 seconds.

4. Release your finger within 5 seconds after the indicator on the charging case starts flashing orange.

5. When the initializing is complete, the indicator on the charging case will flash in green 4 times.

After initializing, you will need to delete the pairing information for the headset from your connected devices and then pair them again.
