What are the cautions and precautions for installation?
Cautions:
• Run all ground (earth) leads to a common ground point.
• Prevent leads from getting trapped under screws or caught in moving parts (e.g., seat railing).
• Turn car ignition off before making connections to avoid shorts.
• Connect yellow and red power leads only after all other leads are connected.
• Insulate any loose unconnected leads with electrical tape.
Precautions:
• Choose location carefully to avoid interfering with driving.
• Avoid areas subject to dust, dirt, vibration, or high temperature (direct sunlight, heater ducts).
• Use only supplied mounting hardware.
Note on power supply lead (yellow): If connecting with other stereo components, ensure the car circuit’s amperage rating exceeds the sum of all components’ fuse ratings.
Mounting Angle: Adjust mounting angle to less than 30°.
How do I make the main wiring connections?
1. To a common ground (earth) point: First connect the black ground lead, then connect yellow and red power leads.
2. To the +12 V power terminal (always energized): Connect the yellow lead. Ensure black ground lead is connected first.
3. To the +12 V power terminal (energized with ignition accessory position): Connect the red lead. If no accessory position, connect to the always energized +12 V battery terminal. Ensure black ground lead is connected first.
4. To the power antenna (aerial) control lead or antenna booster power supply: Connect the blue/white striped lead. Not needed for manual antenna or no booster. Connect to AMP REMOTE IN of an optional power amplifier if used.
5. To a car’s illumination signal (For MEX-N5300BT): Connect the orange/white striped lead. Ensure black ground lead is connected first.
