Yes, when handling your SONY HXR-MC1500P, do not hold it by the following parts:

• Lens hood

• LCD panel

• Microphone

• Panel EVF block

• Battery pack

• Viewfinder

Additionally, do not hold the camcorder by the jack covers.

The LCD screen and viewfinder on the SONY HXR-MC1500P are manufactured with high-precision technology, ensuring over 99.99% of pixels are operational. However, you may notice tiny black points or bright points (white, red, blue, or green) that are constantly visible. These are normal results of the manufacturing process and do not affect the recording.

Important Precautions:

• Avoid exposing the LCD screen, viewfinder, or lens to direct sunlight for extended periods, as this may cause malfunctions.

• Do not aim the camcorder at the sun. This can cause it to malfunction. You should only take images of the sun in low-light conditions, such as at dusk.

The main difference in specification between the models is the internal memory capacity:

• HXR-MC2000E: 64 GB internal memory

• HXR-MC1500P: 32 GB internal memory

Follow these steps to attach the supplied microphone:

1. Attach the wind screen to the microphone.

2. Unlock the stopper of the microphone holder and open the cover.

3. Align the convex part of the microphone with the concave part of the holder, then place the microphone into the holder. Ensure the triangle mark on the microphone and the line mark on the holder are facing each other. Close the cover and lock the stopper securely.

4. Turn the plug of the microphone counter-clockwise 180 degrees and connect it to the Mic jack.

Attaching the eyecup:

Align the eyecup with the eyecup groove in the viewfinder and attach it securely. You can attach the eyecup facing either the right or left side.

Attaching the lens hood:

Align the marks on the lens hood with those on the camcorder, and turn the lens hood in the direction of the arrow to secure it.

To remove the Lens hood:

Press the lever on the lens hood cover and turn the cover in the direction of the arrow.

You can charge the “InfoLITHIUM” battery pack (L series) while it is attached to your SONY HXR-MC1500P.

1. Slide the POWER switch to OFF (CHG). This is the default setting.

2. Attach the battery pack to the camcorder by sliding it in the direction of the arrow until it clicks into place.

3. Connect the AC Adaptor to the DC IN jack of your camcorder. Make sure the triangle mark on the DC plug is facing the triangle mark on the camcorder.

4. Connect the AC Adaptor and the power cord (mains lead) to a wall outlet (wall socket).

The CHG (charge) lamp will light up, indicating that charging has started. The lamp turns off when the battery pack is fully charged.

5. When charging is complete, disconnect the AC Adaptor from the DC IN jack of your camcorder.

The approximate time (in minutes) required to fully charge a completely discharged battery pack for the SONY HXR-MC1500P is as follows. These times are measured with the camcorder at 25 °C (77 °F).

1. Slide the POWER switch to ON while pressing the green button.

2. On the LCD screen, select the desired geographical area with the up/down arrows, then touch [NEXT].

3. Set [SUMMERTIME] (setting to [ON] advances the clock by 1 hour), the current date, and the current time using the on-screen controls, then touch [OK]. The clock will start.

To set the date and time again later, touch MENU → [Show others] → [CLOCK/LANG] → [CLOCK SET].

Adjusting the LCD panel:

Open the LCD panel and rotate it to the best angle for recording or playback. It can rotate up to 90 degrees upwards and 180 degrees forwards/backwards. If you rotate it 180 degrees to the lens side, you can close it with the screen facing out, which is useful for playback.

Adjusting the viewfinder:

Pull out the LCD panel block to adjust its position, and rotate the viewfinder to the best angle. Use the viewfinder lens adjustment lever to move it until the picture is clear.

You can choose to record to the internal memory or a memory card. The default setting is the internal memory. The icon for the selected media is displayed on the screen.

To select recording media for movies:

1. Touch (MENU) → [Show others] → [MEDIA SETTINGS] (under the [MANAGE MEDIA] category) → [MOVIE MEDIA SET].

2. Touch the desired recording media (Internal memory or Memory card).

3. Touch [YES] → [OK]. The recording medium is now changed.

To select recording media for photos:

1. Touch (MENU) → [Show others] → [MEDIA SETTINGS] (under the [MANAGE MEDIA] category) → [PHOTO MEDIA SET].

2. Touch the desired recording media.

3. Touch [YES] → [OK]. The recording medium is now changed.

Your SONY HXR-MC1500P is compatible with the following types of memory cards:

• “Memory Stick PRO Duo” (Mark2) media

• “Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo” media

• SD memory cards (Class 4 or faster)

• SDHC memory cards (Class 4 or faster)

• SDXC memory cards (Class 4 or faster)

“Memory Stick PRO Duo” media up to 32 GB and SD memory cards up to 64 GB have been tested and are proven to operate with your camcorder. MultiMediaCard (MMC) cannot be used.

1. If it’s on, remove the lens cap by pressing both knobs on its sides.

2. Slide the POWER switch to ON while pressing the green button.

3. Press the MODE button until the (Movie) lamp lights up. The LCD screen will switch to movie recording mode with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

4. Press the START/STOP button to begin recording. The on-screen indicator will change from [STBY] to [REC].

5. To stop recording, press the START/STOP button again.

Note: The maximum continuous recordable time for a single movie is about 13 hours.

1. Slide the POWER switch to ON while pressing the green button.

2. Press the MODE button until the (Photo) lamp lights up. The LCD screen will switch to photo recording mode with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

3. Press the PHOTO button lightly to adjust the focus. A green circle will appear when focus is achieved.

4. Press the PHOTO button fully to take the picture. The photo is recorded when the indicator on the screen disappears.

You can magnify images up to 17 times using the power zoom lever. There are two zoom levers on your SONY HXR-MC1500P.

• Using the lever on the side of the lens: Move the lever toward ‘T’ (Telephoto) to zoom in and toward ‘W’ (Wide angle) to zoom out. Move the lever slightly for a slow zoom and further for a faster zoom.

• Using the lever on the handle: Move this lever to zoom. You cannot change the zoom speed with the handle lever.

For greater magnification, you can enable [DIGITAL ZOOM] in the menu settings.

The INTELLIGENT AUTO function allows your SONY HXR-MC1500P to automatically select the best settings for a scene by combining Face detection, Scene detection, and Camera-shake detection. When the camcorder detects the subject, icons corresponding to the detected condition are displayed on the screen.

To use INTELLIGENT AUTO:

Simply press the iAUTO button. The camcorder will then automatically adjust settings based on the scene. The default setting for this function is ON.

To cancel INTELLIGENT AUTO:

Press the iAUTO button again. The detection mode icons will disappear, and you can record with your preferred manual settings.

1. Slide the POWER switch to ON while pressing the green button.

2. Press the (VIEW IMAGES) button. The VISUAL INDEX screen will appear, showing thumbnails of your recorded movies and photos, sorted by date.

3. To play a movie, touch the movie thumbnail.

4. To view a photo, touch the photo thumbnail.

During movie playback, a control panel will appear on the screen, allowing you to play/pause, stop, fast-forward, rewind, and adjust the volume.

You must use the supplied AC Adaptor for power when connecting to a TV. The connection method depends on the type of TV.

For a High Definition (HD) TV:

• Using an HDMI cable (sold separately): Connect the HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT jack on the camcorder to an HDMI IN jack on your TV for the best quality.

• Using a Component video cable (sold separately) and the supplied A/V connecting cable: Connect the component cable to the COMPONENT OUT jacks (Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr) on the camcorder and the corresponding inputs on the TV. Connect the audio plugs (white and red) from the A/V cable to the A/V (audio/video) OUT jack on the camcorder and the audio inputs on the TV.

For a Standard Definition (non-HD) TV:

• Using the supplied A/V connecting cable: Connect the A/V cable to the A/V (audio/video) OUT jack on the camcorder and the VIDEO/AUDIO input jacks on your TV (yellow for video, white and red for audio).

After connecting, select the correct input source on your TV to view the playback from the camcorder.

Be aware that once images are deleted, they cannot be restored. It is recommended to save important images before deleting.

To delete selected images:

1. Touch (MENU) → [Show others] → [DELETE] (under the [EDIT] category).

2. Select whether you want to delete movies or photos.

3. Touch the thumbnails of the movies or photos you wish to delete. A check mark will appear on the selected items.

4. Touch [OK] → [YES] → [OK].

To delete all images recorded on the same day:

1. In step 2, select [DELETE by date].

2. Select the desired date and follow the on-screen prompts.

To delete all images at once:

1. In step 2, select [DELETE ALL].

2. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm.

Before installing, ensure your camcorder is not connected to the computer and log on as an Administrator.

1. Turn on your computer.

2. Place the supplied “Video Camera Application Software” CD-ROM into the disc drive of your computer. The installation screen should appear automatically.

3. Click [Install].

4. Select your country or region.

5. Select the application language and proceed to the next screen.

6. Read the license agreement. If you agree, select the option to accept the terms, then click [Next] → [Install].

7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. You will be prompted to connect your camcorder to the computer using the USB cable during this process.

8. If required, restart your computer after installation is complete.

If your SONY HXR-MC1500P does not turn on, try the following solutions:

• Ensure a charged battery pack is attached to the camcorder.

• If using the AC Adaptor, check that the plug is securely connected to the wall outlet.

It takes a few seconds for the SONY HXR-MC1500P to be ready to shoot after the power is turned on. This is normal and not a malfunction.

If the camcorder is still unresponsive, disconnect the AC Adaptor or remove the battery pack, wait for about one minute, then reconnect the power source. If functions still do not work, press the RESET button using a pointed object.

• If the camcorder is extremely hot: Turn off the camcorder and leave it in a cool place for a while before using it again.

• If the camcorder is extremely cold: Leave the power on, then turn it off and take it to a warm place. Allow the camcorder to acclimate to the warmer temperature for a while before turning it back on.

A quickly discharging battery on your SONY HXR-MC1500P can be caused by a few factors:

• Extreme temperatures: The ambient temperature is too high or too low. This is not a malfunction.

• Insufficient charge: The battery pack may not have been charged completely. Fully charge the battery again.

If the problem persists after fully charging in a normal temperature, the battery may need to be replaced with a new one.

If you are unable to record photos on your SONY HXR-MC1500P, check the following:

• You cannot record photos while using the [SMTH SLW REC] (Smooth Slow Record) function.

• When the [REC MODE] is set to [HD FX], you cannot record photos during movie recording (Dual Rec).

If an error code appears on the LCD screen or viewfinder, check the following:

• C:04:xx: The battery pack is not an “InfoLITHIUM” L series battery. Use a compatible battery. Alternatively, the DC plug of the AC Adaptor may not be connected securely.

• C:06:xx: The battery pack temperature is too high. Change the battery pack or let it cool down.

• C:13:xx / C:32:xx: Remove the power source, reconnect it, and then operate the camcorder again.

• E:xx:xx: Follow the troubleshooting steps starting with disconnecting the power source for one minute. If the problem persists, contact your Sony dealer.

A slowly flashing battery icon indicates that the battery pack is nearly used up. Depending on the operating conditions, this icon may start flashing even when there are about 20 minutes of battery life remaining.

This message means the internal memory of the camcorder is set differently from the default format. To resolve this, you need to perform a [MEDIA FORMAT] on the internal memory. This action will delete all data in the internal memory, so be sure to back up any important files first.

To ensure the longevity and proper function of your memory card, follow these precautions:

• It is recommended to back up important data regularly.

• Do not eject the memory card while the access lamp is lit or flashing.

• Do not use the memory card near magnets or magnetic fields.

• Do not touch the terminals or allow them to come into contact with metallic objects.

• Do not bend, drop, or apply strong force to the card.

• Do not let the memory card get wet.

• Keep the memory card away from small children.

• Avoid storing the memory card in places with extremely high temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.
