What safety precautions should I follow when operating my SONY BVM-F24E?

To ensure safe operation of your SONY BVM-F24E, please follow these precautions:

Power and Safety:

• Operate the unit only with a power source as specified in the “Specifications” section.

• If any solid object or liquid falls into the cabinet, unplug the unit and have it checked by qualified personnel before further use.

• Do not drop or place heavy objects on the power cord. If the power cord is damaged, turn off the power immediately.

• Unplug the unit from the wall outlet if it will not be used for several days or more.

• Disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet by grasping the plug, not by pulling the cord.

• The socket-outlet should be installed near the equipment and be easily accessible.

Installation:

• Allow adequate air circulation to prevent internal heat build-up. Do not place the unit on surfaces like rugs or blankets, or near materials like curtains that may block ventilation holes.

• Do not install the unit near heat sources such as radiators or air ducts, or in a location subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust, or mechanical vibration.

What should I consider when rack mounting the SONY BVM-F24E?

When the SONY BVM-F24E is mounted on a rack, the temperature around the monitor may rise due to heat from other equipment and reduced air circulation. To prevent damage, ensure proper ventilation. Keep ventilation holes clear, install a ventilation fan, or take other measures to keep the temperature within the specified range:

Operating temperature: 0 to 35 °C (32 to 95°F)

Optimum temperature: 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

How can I prevent magnetic interference with my SONY BVM-F24E?

To prevent picture discoloration, bounce, or oscillations on your SONY BVM-F24E, follow these guidelines:

• Do not place the unit near any objects that generate magnetism, such as magnets, speakers, electric clocks, or health appliances.

• The picture may become fuzzy or colors may not reproduce correctly due to earth’s magnetism, depending on the direction the unit is installed. This is not an equipment failure. In such a case, simply degauss the unit using the DEGAUSS button.

What are the proper procedures for cleaning and handling the CRT on the SONY BVM-F24E?

Cleaning:

• To keep the unit looking new, periodically clean it with a mild detergent solution. Never use strong solvents like thinner or benzine, or abrasive cleansers, as they will damage the cabinet. As a safety precaution, unplug the unit before cleaning it.

Handling the CRT:

• Dust accumulates on the CRT easily. Clean it when necessary with a soft cloth.

• The surface of the CRT is easily scratched; do not rub or touch the surface unnecessarily.

• If you touch the surface of the CRT, you may feel a weak electrical shock. This is simply static electricity and will not affect the human body.

How should I repack my SONY BVM-F24E for transport?

Do not throw away the original carton and packing materials. They provide an ideal container for transporting the SONY BVM-F24E. When shipping the unit to another location, repack it as illustrated on the carton.
