SHARP GP1UM26RK (01) PDF SUMMARY:

When should this infrared remote control detecting unit be used?

When wireless remote control is needed.

What signal format should be used with the transmitter?

The signal format of the transmitter should have a total duty ratio D₁ (Emitting time / Transmitting time for 1 block T) of 40% or less. The ON signal time Ton (Pulse width of the presence of modulated IR) should be 250µs or more (200µs in case of B.P.F. center frequency: 56.8kHz model).

What happens if the signal format is not within the specified conditions?

Reception distance may be reduced or output may not appear.

What should be considered when using the light-emitting unit (remote control transmitter)?

Consider the performance, characteristics, and operating conditions of the light-emitting device and the characteristics of the light detecting unit.

What should be done if the surface of the light detecting unit is stained with dust or refuse?

Care must be taken not to touch the light detector surface. If it should be dirty, wipe off such dust and refuse with a soft cloth to prevent scratches. If some solvents are required, use methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, or isopropyl alcohol only. Also, protect the light detecting unit against flux and others, since their deposition on the unit inside causes reduction of the function, fading of markings such as the part number.

Should the shield case be grounded?

Yes, the shield case should be grounded on the PCB pattern.

Is the area across the shield case and the GND terminal always conductive?

The area across the shield case and the GND terminal is internally conductive in some cases and non-conductive in some other cases.

Should unnecessary force be applied to the terminal and the case?

No, do not apply unnecessary force to the terminal and the case.

Should the light detector surface (photodiode) be pushed from outside?

No, do not push the light detector surface (photodiode) from outside.

How to avoid electrostatic breakdown of IC?

Handle the unit under the condition of grounding with the human body, soldering iron, etc.

Can holes and grooves be used in the case of the light detecting unit for other purposes?

No, do not use hole and groove set in the case of the light detecting unit for other purposes, since they are required to maintain the specified performance.

Where should the outer parts be mounted?

Mount the outer parts as near the unit as possible.

What are the recommended values for R₁ and C₁ in the external circuit?

Use suitable values after considering the real condition. The circuit constant is an example and may differ from mounting equipment. Select values based on your mounting equipment. (Circuit parameters: R₁=47Ω±5%, C₁=47μF)

What protection element is included in this device and why?

This device has a transistor as a protection element between Vcc and GND to improve anti-static electricity proof.

What should be avoided regarding voltage?

Be careful not to apply voltage exceeding the absolute maximum ratings and continuous high voltage spike noise, as the transistor may short due to secondary breakdown.

What external circuit can be added to prevent voltage spikes?

Add a CR filter (47Ω (1/10W), 10µF or more) near Vcc.

What should be done about potential noise on the output?

There is a possibility that noise on output may be caused by environmental conditions (Disturbing light noise, Electromagnetic noise, Power supply line noise, etc.) even if there is no input transmission signal.

What should be confirmed on the actual machine?

Confirm the operation on your actual machine. The output pulse width of this product is fluctuated by environmental conditions such as signal format, temperature, and distance from the transmitter.

What precaution should be taken regarding storage in high humidity?

In case that this product is kept in high humidity conditions, it may be hard to solder, so be careful enough about storage method.

What should be considered when selecting a flux for soldering?

Depend on the flux you select, there are different solderabilities, so please select a suitable flux and use it.

What should be avoided regarding dew?

Please use this device away from the dew drop. Be aware that the dew drop rusts shield case and others, may affect the electric characteristics.
