• Use a soft damp cloth to gently wipe the display panel when it is very dirty.

• If the display panel is dusty, use an anti-static brush, which is commercially available, to clean it.

To ensure the safe placement and use of your SHARP AQUOS LC-19DV28UT, please follow these guidelines:

• Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for safe installation.

• Carefully read and understand all enclosed instructions.

• Don’t allow children to climb on or play with furniture and television sets.

• Don’t place flat panel displays on furniture that can easily be used as steps, such as a chest of drawers.

• Place or install the display where it cannot be pushed, pulled over, or knocked down.

• Route all cords and cables so that they cannot be pulled or grabbed by curious children.

When Wall Mounting:

• Use a mount that has been recommended by the display manufacturer and/or listed by an independent laboratory (such as UL, CSA, ETL).

• Follow all instructions supplied by the display and wall mount manufacturers.

• If you have any doubts about your ability to safely install your flat panel display, contact your retailer about professional installation.

• Make sure that the wall where you are mounting the display is appropriate. Some wall mounts are not designed to be mounted to walls with steel studs or old cinder block construction. If you are unsure, contact a professional installer.

• A minimum of two people are required for installation. Flat panel displays can be heavy.

The SHARP AQUOS LC-19DV28UT can play discs that meet the standard and bear the following logo marks on the disc label surface.

• This unit is designed to playback music Compact Discs (CD) that conform to the CD standard. CDs with copy-restriction signals cannot be played back.

• Some CD-R/RWs and DVD-R/RW may not be played back depending on the recording conditions.

• 8 cm discs can be played without an adapter.

• The region number of this unit is “1”. It will play DVD-Video discs marked with labels containing “1” or “ALL”.

The following discs and accessories should not be used with the SHARP AQUOS LC-19DV28UT as they may not play back correctly or could cause serious damage:

Discs that cannot be played back in general:

• CDG, Photo-CD, CD-ROM, CD-TEXT, CD-EXTRA, SACD, PD, DVD-ROM, SVCD, CVD, VCD, DVD-RAM, DVD+R/RW, DVD audio, HD DVD, Blu-ray, etc.

DVD-Video discs that may not be played back:

• DVD-Video that do not have the region number “1” or “ALL”.

• Prohibited or business-use DVD-Video.

CD-R/CD-RWs that cannot be played back:

• Discs with compatibility issues with this unit or the recorder used.

• Unfinalised discs.

Discs and accessories to never use:

• Irregular shaped discs (e.g., card shaped, heart shaped).

• Ring protectors or other disc accessories.

• 8 cm disc adapters.

• Stickered or papered discs.

• Discs with scotch tape, glue, or other remains of labels.

General Playable File Information:

• ISO 9660 Level 1 or 2 compliant. Romeo and Joliet file systems are compatible.

• DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected files will not play.

• File structure: Up to 299 folders on a disc; up to 648 files within each folder.

JPEG File Compatibility:

• Image files should be saved in JPEG format.

• Compatible formats: Baseline JPEG and EXIF 2.2 still image files up to a resolution of 3072 x 2048.

• Files with extensions .jpg or .JPG can be played.

• Progressive JPEG formatted files do not work.

Windows Media Audio (WMA) Compatibility:

• This unit is compatible with audio files recorded with a sampling frequency of 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, and 48 kHz.

• It is not compatible with loss-less encoding.

• Files with extensions .wma or .WMA can be played.

MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer-3) File Compatibility:

• This unit is compatible with audio files recorded with a sampling frequency of 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, and 48 kHz.

• Files with extensions .mp3 or .MP3 can be played.

• For the best quality of sound, a 128 kbps or higher bit rate is recommended.

Handling Discs:

• When removing a disc from its case, be sure to hold the edge of the disc. Do not touch the surface.

• Do not scratch the disc.

• Do not get dirt on the surface of the disc.

• Do not stick a label or adhesive tape on the disc.

• Do not drop or bend the disc.

Storing Discs:

• Store the disc in its case to avoid scratches, dirt, or damage.

• Do not leave the disc exposed to direct sunlight or in hot or humid places.

Cleaning Discs:

• Wipe the disc with a clean, dry cloth from the center outward toward the edges.

• Do not wipe the disc in a circular motion around the center.

• Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.

The following accessories are provided with your SHARP AQUOS LC-19DV28UT:

• Remote control unit (x1)

• “AA” size battery (x2)

• AC cord (x1)

• Stand unit (x1) and Screws (x3)

• Operation manual (x1)

Always use the AC cord supplied with the TV/DVD.

Before attaching or detaching the stand, unplug the AC cord. To prevent damage, spread cushioning over the base area to lay the TV/DVD on.

CAUTION: Attach the stand in the correct direction. Incorrect installation may result in the TV/DVD falling over.

1. Confirm you have the 3 screws supplied with the TV/DVD.

2. Remove the covering sheet from the stand.

3. Insert the stand into the bottom of the TV/DVD.

4. Insert and tighten the 3 screws into the 3 holes on the bottom of the stand.

5. For protection, sheets may be covering the product. Please remove these sheets before use.

To detach the stand, perform these steps in reverse order.

1. Attach your antenna to the back of the TV/DVD.

2. Connect the AC plug for the TV/DVD into a wall outlet. Place the TV/DVD close to the AC outlet and keep the power plug within reach.

3. To turn on the TV/DVD for the first time, press the POWER button on the TV/DVD unit. The POWER indicator on the front will light GREEN.

The Auto Setup menu will appear the first time you turn on the TV/DVD. Follow these steps:

1. The “Auto Setup” function begins. Press the arrow buttons to select your desired language.

2. Press ▲/▼ to select “Signal Type”, then press ◄/► to select “Cable” or “Air”.

3. Press ▲/▼ to select “Automatic Search”, then press ► or ENTER.

4. The TV will begin memorizing all the channels available in your area. This may take from 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Please be patient.

If the remote control fails to operate TV/DVD functions, replace the batteries.

1. Open the battery cover.

2. Insert two “AA” size batteries (supplied with the product).

3. Place the batteries with their terminals corresponding to the (+) and (-) indications in the battery compartment.

4. Close the battery cover.

Note on Battery Use:

• Do not mix batteries of different types.

• Do not mix old and new batteries.

• Remove batteries as soon as they are worn out. If you find any chemical leakage, wipe thoroughly with a cloth.

• If you will not be using the remote control for an extended period, remove the batteries from it.

You can connect various external devices to your SHARP AQUOS LC-19DV28UT. Image quality differs depending on the connection type. Use the appropriate terminals for the highest quality image.

PC Connections:

• Use an HDMI cable to connect to INPUT 3 (HDMI).

• Use a DVI-HDMI conversion cable to INPUT 3 (HDMI) and a 3.5 mm stereo minijack cable to the AUDIO PC/HDMI terminal.

• Use an analog RGB (VGA) cable to connect to INPUT 4 (PC IN) and a 3.5 mm stereo minijack cable to the AUDIO PC/HDMI terminal.

Audio Amplifier Connection:

• Use a coaxial cable to connect from the DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT (COAXIAL) terminal on the TV to your amplifier.

After connecting a device, press the INPUT button on the remote control to select the corresponding input source (e.g., Input1, Input2, Input3, Input4, DVD).

The following table lists the PC signals compatible with the INPUT 4 (PC IN) terminal on your SHARP AQUOS LC-19DV28UT.

Memorizing Channels (Auto Ch Memory):

This function makes the TV/DVD look for all viewable channels in your area.

1. Press TV MENU to display the menu screen.

2. Select “Channel”, then “Auto Ch Memory”.

3. Select “Signal Type” and choose “Cable” or “Air”.

4. Select “Automatic Search” and press ENTER. The TV will begin memorizing all available channels.

Skipping a Stored Channel:

This allows you to skip a channel when using the CH ▲/▼ buttons.

1. Press TV MENU and go to “Channel”, then “Add/Delete”.

2. Select “Add/Delete” again.

3. Press ▲/▼ to select the channel you want to skip.

4. Press ◄/► to select “Delete” for that channel.

5. To release a skipped channel, select “Add” instead of “Delete”.

Clearing All Channels:

This deletes all channels from the memory.

1. Press TV MENU and go to “Channel”, then “Add/Delete”.

2. Select “Clear All” and press ENTER.

Labeling Channels:

You can create custom labels for channels.

1. Select a channel you want to label.

2. Press TV MENU, go to “Channel”, then “Ch Label”.

3. Select the channel and press ▼.

4. Use the arrow buttons to enter characters for the label name. Press ENTER after each character. When finished, press ENTER to save.

Turning Closed Captions On/Off:

1. Tune the TV to the desired program.

2. Press TV MENU and go to “Setup”, then “Closed Caption”.

3. Set “CC Setting” to “On”.

4. Select “Analog Caption” or “Digital Caption” and choose the desired service (e.g., C1, C2, CS1, CS2, etc.).

5. To turn captions off, set “CC Setting” to “Off”.

Customizing Digital Caption Appearance (Caption Setup):

This function allows you to adjust the digital closed caption screen appearance.

1. In the “Closed Caption” menu, set “Digital CC Preset” to “Custom”.

2. Select “CC Advanced” and press ENTER.

3. Use the arrow buttons to select an item (e.g., Text Size, Text Color, Background Color) and change the setting.

4. Press EXIT to return to normal viewing.

Selectable parameters include:

• Text Size: Auto, Small, Standard, Large

• Text Type: Auto, Style1-7

• Text Edge: Auto, None, Raised, Depressed, Uniform, Left/Right Shadow

• Text Color: Various colors available

• Text Opacity: Auto, Solid, Transparent, Translucent, Flashing

• Background Color: Various colors available

• Background Opacity: Auto, Solid, Transparent, Translucent, Flashing

To use the V-CHIP parental controls, you must first set a password.

Setting a Password:

1. Press TV MENU and select “Lock”, then press ENTER.

2. Enter a 4-digit password using the number buttons (0-9), then press ENTER.

3. Re-enter the same password to confirm, then press ENTER. The Lock menu will now appear.

Setting TV Parental Guidelines (U.S. Ratings):

1. Enter the Lock menu using your password.

2. Select “V-Chip” and set it to “On”.

3. Select “V-Chip Set”, then “TV Rating”.

4. Select the desired age-based rating (e.g., TV-PG) and content-based ratings (e.g., V for Violence) to block. Selecting a rating will automatically block all higher ratings.

Setting Movie Ratings (MPAA):

1. In the “V-Chip Set” menu, select “Movie Rating”.

2. Select the desired rating to block (e.g., PG-13). This will automatically block all higher ratings (R, NC-17, X).

Setting Canadian Ratings:

1. In the “V-Chip Set” menu, select “CAN ENG Rating” (English) or “CAN FRE Rating” (French).

2. Select the rating you wish to block.

Temporarily Releasing a V-Chip Block:

When a program is blocked, a message will appear.

1. Press MUTE while the message is displayed.

2. Enter your 4-digit password and press ENTER. The block will be temporarily released.

The V-Chip block reactivates when you change the channel or turn the TV off.

Use the following buttons on the remote control to operate the on-screen menu:

• TV MENU: Press to open the menu screen.

• ▲/▼/◄/►: Press to select a desired item on the screen or adjust a selected item.

• ENTER: Press to go to the next step or complete the setting.

• RETURN: Press to return to the previous step.

• EXIT: Press to exit from the menu screen. All changed settings will be saved.

The lower part of the menu screen provides an operational guide for the remote control that changes with each menu setting screen.

1. Press POWER on the TV/DVD or the remote control to turn it on.

2. Press TV/DVD to select the DVD mode.

3. Place the disc in the disc slot with the label side facing forward. Hold the disc without touching its surface and align it with the guides.

4. Playback will commence automatically. If a menu screen appears, use the ▲/▼/◄/► and ENTER buttons to make a selection.

5. Press STOP to end playback. The unit can remember the stop point for the last five discs played. Press PLAY to resume from that point.

6. Press EJECT to remove the disc.

• Fast Forward/Review Playback: Press FWD or REV during playback. Each press increases the search speed. Press PLAY to resume normal playback.

• Still Playback: Press STILL/PAUSE during playback to freeze the image. Press PLAY or STILL/PAUSE again to resume.

• Frame Advance: While paused (still playback), press ► or ◄ to advance one frame at a time.

• Slow-motion Playback: Press SLOW (►) or SLOW (◄) during playback. Each press changes the slow speed.

• Zooming: Press ZOOM during playback to magnify the image (Zoom 2x, Zoom 4x). Use the arrow buttons to move the zoomed frame. Press ZOOM repeatedly to return to 1:1 view.

• A-B Repeat Playback: Press A-B REPEAT at the desired start point (A). Press it again at the desired end point (B). The section between A and B will repeat. Press A-B REPEAT a third time to cancel.

• Marking Scenes: Press MARKER during playback to set a marker (up to 12). To return to a marked scene, press MARKER again, select the desired marker number, and press ENTER.

• Changing Angles: On discs with multi-angle scenes, press ANGLE repeatedly to cycle through available camera angles.

• Changing Audio/Subtitles: Press AUDIO to cycle through available soundtrack languages. Press SUBTITLE to cycle through available subtitle languages or turn them off.

You can change the default DVD settings by pressing SETUP in stop mode to enter the HOME MENU, then selecting “Initial Settings”.

If you forget the parental control password, you can clear it using the following procedure:

1. Press and hold both the VOL – button on the TV/DVD unit and the 0 button on the remote control simultaneously for a few seconds until the MENU screen appears on the screen.

2. The old password is now cleared. You can set a new password.

If there is no power to your SHARP AQUOS LC-19DV28UT, please check the following:

• Check if you pressed POWER on the TV/DVD or on the remote control unit.

• Is the AC cord disconnected from the wall outlet?

• Has the power been turned on at the unit?

If the remote control unit does not operate, please check these possible solutions:

• Are the batteries inserted with the correct polarity (+, -) alignment?

• Are the batteries worn out? If so, replace them with new batteries.

• Are you using it under strong or fluorescent lighting?

• Is a fluorescent light illuminated near the remote control sensor on the TV?

For No Picture:

• Is the connection to other components correct?

• Is the correct input signal source selected after connection?

• Is the correct input selected on the TV?

• Is the picture adjustment correct in the menu?

For No Sound:

• Is the volume set too low?

• Have you pressed MUTE on the remote control unit?

• Is the connection to other components correct?

• Check the audio output of the connected external equipment. Is its volume too low or muted?

• When external equipment is connected via an HDMI cable, you may need to configure the audio to be output through the HDMI cable.

If you are experiencing issues while using PC mode, try the following solutions:

• There is no image: Make sure the RGB cable is properly connected. Ensure the output signal of the PC and the input signal setting of the TV/DVD set are matched.

• There is no sound: Make sure the PC audio cable is properly connected. Check if the mute function is activated, or if the volume is set to minimum.

• The text is blurred: Adjust “Clock” and “Phase” using the PC Setting menu.

• The image is not displayed in the center of the screen: Adjust “Hor Position” and “Ver Position” using the PC Setting menu.
