The SAMSUNG HG32NE478B TV has two operational modes:

Interactive mode: In this mode, the TV communicates with and is fully or partially controlled by a connected Set Back Box (SBB) or Set Top Box (STB) provided by a hospitality SI (System Integration) vendor. When the TV is initially plugged in, it sends a command that attempts to identify the SBB or STB connected to it. If the TV identifies the SBB or STB and the SBB or STB identifies the TV, the TV gives full control to the SBB or STB.

Stand-alone mode: In this mode, this TV works alone without an external SBB or the STB.

The TV features a Hotel (Hospitality) Menu that allows for easy setting of its various hospitality functions. This menu also lets you activate or de-activate some TV and hospitality functions to create an optimal configuration.

To reduce the chance of uneven screen wear or after-images caused by displaying still images (like jpeg files, channel logos, or 4:3 format images), please follow these recommendations:

• Avoid displaying the same TV channel for long periods.

• Always try to display a full-screen image.

• Reduce brightness and contrast to help prevent the occurrence of after-images.

• Frequently use all TV features designed to reduce image retention and screen burn-in. Refer to the proper user manual section for details.

When you install the SAMSUNG HG32NE478B, you must maintain a distance of at least 4 inches between the TV and other objects (such as walls, cabinet sides, etc.) to ensure proper ventilation. Failing to maintain proper ventilation may result in a fire or problems with the product caused by an increase in its internal temperature.

Whether you are using a stand or a wall-mount, it is important to use parts provided by Samsung Electronics only. Using parts from another manufacturer may cause difficulties with the product or result in injury from the product falling.

To install the stand on your SAMSUNG HG32NE478B, follow these steps:

1. Place a soft cloth over a table to protect the TV, and then place the TV on the cloth with the screen-side down.

2. Insert the Stand Guide into the slot on the bottom of the TV.

3. Use the provided screws to attach the stand. There are two types of security screws, C and D. Use three screws of either type (C x3 or D x3) to secure the stand. Do not mix screw types.

Important Notes:

• Make sure to distinguish between the front and back of the Stand and Stand Guide when connecting them.

• Make sure that at least two people lift and move the TV.

• The number and type of screws may differ depending on the specific model.

You can configure the stand for the SAMSUNG HG32NE478B to swivel at 20, 60, or 90 degrees left and right using the BRACKET HOLDER SWIVEL.

20° swivel

To configure the TV to swivel 20° left and right, insert the prong on the bottom of the stand through the curved hole in the Bracket Holder Swivel marked 20°. Then, fix the Bracket Holder Swivel to the stand using the three supplied screws.

60° swivel

To configure the TV to swivel 60° left and right, insert the prong on the bottom of the stand through the curved hole in the Bracket Holder Swivel marked 60°. Then, fix the Bracket Holder Swivel to the stand using the three supplied screws.

90° swivel

To configure the TV to swivel 90° left and right, remove the Bracket Holder Swivel, and then screw the three supplied screws directly into the stand.

The Hotel Mount Kit allows you to affix the TV stand securely to a flat surface such as a dresser top, desk, or entertainment center. The kit includes short bolts, long bolts, nuts, and washers.

Use the provided bolts (Short or Long depending on the surface thickness), washers, and nuts to attach the stand base to the surface as shown in the manual’s diagram.

WARNING: To prevent injury, you must attach the TV securely to the floor, a table, a dresser top, etc. with the Hotel Mount Kit as described in these instructions.

The SAMSUNG HG32NE478B features a TV Controller, a small joystick-like button on the rear right side of the TV, which allows you to control the TV without the remote.

When you press the button, a function menu appears on the screen. You can navigate this menu to perform various actions:

• Selecting the Menu: Move the joystick to highlight an option.

• Selecting a source: Navigate to the source selection icon.

• Power off: Navigate to the power icon.

Important Usage Notes:

• The product color and shape may vary depending on the model.

• To exit the menu, press the Controller for more than 1 second.

• When selecting a function by moving the controller up/down/left/right, be sure not to press up on the controller first, as it will not operate correctly.

When you turn off your SAMSUNG HG32NE478B, it enters Standby mode. In this mode, it continues to consume a small amount of electric power. To ensure safety and to decrease power consumption, it is best not to leave your TV in standby mode for long periods (for example, when you are away on vacation). It is recommended to unplug the power cord entirely.

The SAMSUNG HG32NE478B has the following connection ports:

1. HDMI IN: Connects to the HDMI jack of a device with an HDMI output. HDMI connections carry both audio and video, so no separate sound connection is needed.

2. USB / CLONING: Connector for software upgrades, Media Play, and service connection.

3. VIDEO / L-AUDIO-R: Connect a VIDEO cable to an external A/V device like a VCR, DVD, or Camcorder. Connect audio cables to “L-AUDIO-R” on your TV and the corresponding audio out jacks on the A/V device.

4. EX-LINK: Connect this jack to the optional RJP (Remote Jack Pack) to easily connect external devices like camcorders, PCs, and DVD players.

5. AUDIO OUT: Connects to the audio input jacks on an Amplifier or Home Theater system.

6. ANT IN or AIR/CABLE: To view television channels, the TV must receive a signal from an outdoor antenna, a cable television system, or a satellite receiver.

7. DATA: Used to support data communication between the TV and an external SBB or STB. Connects using RJ-12 TV type plugs.

8. GAME CONTROL DATA: Used to connect the Lodgenet game controller or to support data communication between the TV and an external SBB or STB. Connects using an RJ-12 type plug.

When connecting an external device, make sure the TV and the device are turned off. Match the color of the connection terminal to the cable.

After connecting a computer, set the screen resolution on the computer. The optimal resolution is 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz. The recommended resolutions are listed in the table below. If you set a resolution not listed, the TV may display nothing. Refer to your computer’s user guide for instructions on changing the resolution.

Notes:

• When using an HDMI/DVI cable connection, you must use the HDMI IN (DVI) jack.

• The interlace mode is not supported.

• The TV might operate abnormally if a non-standard video format is selected.

• Separate and Composite modes are supported. SOG is not supported.

Here are the functions of the buttons on your SAMSUNG HG32NE478B remote control:

• Power button: Turns the TV on and off.

• SOURCE: Displays and selects the available video sources.

• Number buttons (0-9): Press to directly access channels.

• – (Dash button): Press to select additional digital channels being broadcast by the same station. For example, to select channel ’54-3′, press ’54’, then press ‘-‘ and ‘3’.

• PRE-CH: Returns to the previous channel.

• + VOL -: Adjusts the volume.

• MUTE: Cuts off the sound temporarily.

• ^ CH v: Changes channels.

• CH LIST: Displays the channel list on the screen.

• MENU: Displays the main on-screen menu.

• HOME: Switches to the HOME Screen. (Not available on HD478 models)

• CONTENT: Views the Contents Home.

• TOOLS: Quickly selects frequently used functions.

• Arrow buttons / Enter button (center): Select on-screen menu items and change menu values.

• RETURN: Returns to the previous menu.

• EXIT: Exits the menu.

• Colored buttons (A, B, C, D): Use these buttons according to the directions on screen (to perform a function, display a screen, etc.).

• SLEEP: Sets the Sleep Timer.

• 3D: Turns the 3D function on or off (Not available).

• CC: Controls the caption decoder.

• Media Control buttons (Rewind, Play, Fast Forward, Pause, Stop): Use these buttons in a specific feature.

To install the AAA batteries into the remote:

1. Open the battery cover on the rear of the remote.

2. Insert two AAA batteries, matching the polarity (+ and -) of the batteries to the symbols in the battery compartment.

3. Close the battery cover.

4. After installing the batteries, use a screwdriver to tighten the screw that holds the battery cover closed.

NOTE:

• Use the remote control within 23-33 feet of the TV.

• Bright light may affect the performance of the remote control. Avoid using it near fluorescent lights or neon signs.

• The color and shape of the remote may vary depending on the model.

Depending on your device, follow one of these connection methods:

Connecting a LodgeNet game controller:

1. Connect the LodgeNet game controller to the TV’s GAME CONTROL DATA jack using a data cable.

Connecting an STB (SBB) or a game controller via an STB (SBB):

1. Connect the GAME CONTROL DATA jack on the TV to the ETH MODEM jack of the STB (SBB) with the data cable.

Note: The “ETH MODEM” jack name on your STB or SBB may differ. Always use the correct data cable for your SI vendor. A list of compatible cables and pin assignments is provided in the manual.

To connect your SAMSUNG HG32NE478B to an external audio amplifier or home theater system:

1. You will need a stereo cable (not provided).

2. Connect one end of the stereo cable to the AUDIO OUT port on the rear panel of the TV.

3. Connect the other end of the cable to the Audio In port of your audio amplifier.

To connect a MediaHub HD to your SAMSUNG HG32NE478B for external source input, follow these steps:

1. Connect the EX-LINK port of the TV to the RS/232 port of the MediaHub HD using an RS-232 Data Cable.

2. Connect the HDMI IN 1 (DVI) or HDMI IN 2 (ARC) port of the TV to the HDMI port of the MediaHub HD using an HDMI cable.

About MediaHub HD:

The MediaHub HD is a hardware module with various Audio/Video inputs (A/V, Audio, PC, HDMI, USB). It communicates with the TV via RS-232 to enable Hot Plug & Play, allowing guests to connect external devices. The TV will automatically switch to the active external source connected to the MediaHub.

Important Notes:

• You must connect the HDMI from the MediaHub to the HDMI IN port that is set in the TV’s hotel option menu (Remote Jack Pack > HDMI option).

• When the TV is on, connect the TV and the RJP within 10 seconds.

A Remote Jack Pack (RJP) lets guests conveniently connect audio and video sources to the TV. To connect an RJP to your SAMSUNG HG32NE478B:

1. Connect the AUDIO OUT port of the TV to the PC/AUDIO port of the RJP.

2. Connect the AV IN (VIDEO/L-AUDIO-R) port of the TV to the RCA port of the RJP.

3. Connect the HDMI IN port of the TV to the HDMI port of the RJP.

4. Connect the EX-LINK port of the TV to the RS/232 port of the RJP.

Note: This Samsung TV is compatible with the TeleAdapt TA-7610 RJP only.

The RJP is a hardware module with various inputs (A/V, Audio, PC, HDMI) that communicates with the TV via RS-232.

• Priority Switching: You can assign numbered priorities to the RJP jacks in the hotel menu. When a guest connects a device, the TV automatically switches to the source with the highest priority. For example, if AV has priority 1 and HDMI has priority 2, plugging a device into the AV jack will cause the TV to switch to the AV source, even if an HDMI device is already connected.

• RJP Reset: To reset the RJP to its factory default state, press the AV and HDMI buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds until all button LEDs blink 5 times.

• LED Timer: The RJP will automatically turn off any LEDs after 5 minutes to avoid light pollution. The LEDs turn on again if a guest touches any button, and the 5-minute timer restarts.

• Communication Time: After an RJP Reset or a TV Power OFF/ON, it takes about 10 seconds to establish communications between the TV and the RJP.

• Music Mode: To play audio devices (like iPods, MP3 players) through the RJP, you must turn Music Mode AV on in the menu. This is supported by the AV jack only on the TA-7610 RJP.

The SAMSUNG HG32NE478B has two Hotel mode menus: Stand-alone and Interactive. To access and navigate these menus, follow these steps:

To Access the Menu:

Press the following buttons on your Samsung remote in sequence: MUTE → 1 → 1 → 9 → ENTER.

General Navigation:

• Use the Up and Down arrow buttons to move between menu items.

• Press ENTER or the Left/Right arrow buttons to select a menu item. The screen will display only that item.

• Press the Left or Right arrow button to change a value. The Right arrow increases values, and the Left arrow decreases them.

• When a single menu item is displayed, you can use the Up/Down arrows to move to the next or previous item.

• Press the RETURN or MENU button to exit the current item and go to a higher menu level or the Main menu.

To Change Hospitality Mode (Standalone/Interactive):

1. In the menu, highlight the Hospitality Mode item at the top.

2. Press the left or right arrow button. Only the Hospitality Mode item will be displayed.

3. Press the left or right arrow button again to change the mode from Standalone to Interactive or vice versa.

4. Press the Return or Menu button. The full menu will reappear with your new selection.

To Exit and Save Changes:

To exit a Hotel mode menu, turn the TV off, and then turn it on again. Any changes you made are saved, except for changes to the SI Vendor. To save a change to SI Vendor, you must turn the TV off, wait for the Standby light to glow steadily, unplug the TV, wait for the Standby light to go off, and then plug the TV back in.

The Sports (or Soccer) Mode provides an optimized viewing condition for watching sports games.

To activate it, navigate to: MENU → Applications → Sports(or Soccer) Mode → ENTER.

While in this mode, you can use the A (Zoom) function (the red ‘A’ button on the remote). This allows you to pause the playback and divide the picture into 9 parts. You can then select a part to zoom in on. Press the button again to resume normal playback.

If you turn the TV off while watching in Sports (or Soccer) Mode, the mode will be disabled when you turn the TV back on.

The Welcome Message feature displays a custom message on the TV every time it is turned on. The settings are found in the Hotel Option Menu.

To enable the Welcome Message:

1. Access the Hotel Option Menu.

2. Navigate to Logo/Message.

3. Set Welcome Message to ON.

To edit the Welcome Message:

1. In the Logo/Message menu, select Edit Welcome Message.

2. An on-screen editor will appear. You can create a message up to 25 characters long using capital letters from A to Z.

3. Use the remote’s navigation buttons to move around the on-screen alphabet and select letters.

4. Use the colored buttons on the remote for specific functions as indicated on screen:

• A (Red) button: Move the cursor to the left in the message.

• B (Green) button: Move the cursor to the right.

• C (Yellow) button: Erase a letter or enter a blank space.

• D (Blue) button: Finish editing.

5. Press Enter to place a selected letter into the message.

6. Press Return or the D (Done) button to exit the editor.

The Hospitality Logo function displays a picture image when the TV is powered on. You can load this image from a USB device.

Logo File Format Requirements:

• The TV supports only BMP and AVI formats.

• The file name must be samsung.bmp or samsung.avi.

• Maximum resolution for BMP: 960 x 540.

• Maximum file size for AVI: 30MB.

• AVI Video Codec: H.264 / MPEG-4 / MPEG2.

• AVI Bit Rate: below 10 Mbps.

• AVI Frame Rate: 24-30.

• AVI Resolution: 640*480 | 1920*1080.

Steps to set up the Hotel Logo:

1. Access the Hotel mode menu and navigate to Logo/Message.

2. Set Hospitality Logo to ON. This will enable the Logo Download and Logo Display Time options.

3. Select Hospitality Logo DL to download the logo image from a connected USB device to the TV’s memory.

• A “wait” message appears during the copy process.

• A “completed” message appears on success; “failed” appears on failure.

• “No USB” appears if no USB device is connected.

• “No File” appears if the file is missing or in the wrong format.

4. Set the Logo Display Time to 3, 5, or 7 seconds.

Once set up, the logo will be displayed when the TV is turned on, provided the Hospitality Logo option is ON.

USB Cloning allows you to copy user-configured settings (Picture, Sound, Channel, Hotel Setup, etc.) from one TV to a USB device, and then upload them to other TVs.

Cloning from TV to USB (Exporting settings):

1. Insert a USB drive into the USB port on the TV.

2. Enter the hotel option menu by pressing MUTE → 1 → 1 → 9 → ENTER.

3. Use the arrow buttons to select Cloning, then Clone TV to USB, and press ENTER.

4. When the confirmation message appears, press ENTER to start.

5. The TV will display the progress (“In Progress”) and a result message (“Completed”, “Failed”, “No USB”). The clone folder on the USB drive will be labeled T-NT16LAKUCB.

Cloning from USB to TV (Importing settings):

You can use a shortcut or the hotel menu.

• Shortcut Method: Turn the TV off, insert the USB device with the clone file, turn the TV on, and then press and hold the ENTER button for 5 seconds.

• Hotel Menu Method:

1. Turn the TV off.

2. Insert the USB drive into the TV.

3. Turn the TV on.

4. Enter the hotel menu (MUTE → 1 → 1 → 9 → ENTER).

5. Select Cloning, then Clone USB to TV, and press ENTER.

6. When the confirmation message appears, press ENTER to start.

7. The TV will display the progress and a result message (“Completed”, “Failed”, “No USB”, “No File”).

The “Setting Auto Initialize” function, when turned On, automatically restores any guest-side menu values to the cloned, standard values whenever the TV is turned off and then turned on again. This ensures that any changes made by a guest to settings like Picture or Sound are reset. This function only works on guest-side menu values that have been part of a cloning process.

The following settings are restored when Setting Auto Initialize is On:

To upgrade the TV’s software (firmware), follow these steps:

1. Insert a USB drive containing the SW upgrade file into the USB port on the side of the TV.

2. Press the MENU button to display the menu.

3. Use the arrow buttons to select Support, and then press ENTER.

4. Select SW Upgrade, and then press ENTER.

5. The TV will display the message “Scanning for USB. This may take more than 1min.”

6. When a new version is found, a message like “Upgrade version XXXX to version XXXX? The system will be reset after upgrade.” will appear. Use the arrow buttons to select OK, and then press ENTER.

Important: Do not disconnect the power or remove the USB drive while the upgrade is in progress. The TV will turn off and on automatically after the upgrade is complete. After it restarts, check the SW version to confirm the upgrade was successful. Note that when the software is upgraded, your video and audio settings will return to their factory defaults.

The SAMSUNG HG32NE478B supports the ARC feature in HDMI, allowing you to listen to the TV’s sound through a compatible Samsung Sound Bar using a single HDMI cable.

To set up the Sound Bar for Hotel Mode:

1. Set the following options in the TV’s Hotel menu:

• Go to External Device and set Sound Bar Out to On.

• Go to Power On and set Power On Volume to User Defined.

• In Power On, set Power On Volume Num to a value greater than 0.

• In Power On, set Max Volume to a value greater than 0.

2. Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT jack on the back of the Sound Bar to the HDMI (ARC) port on the TV.

3. After connecting, when the TV turns on, the Sound Bar will automatically detect the TV and switch to Hotel Mode.

Sound Bar Hotel Mode Features:

• Power On/Off is synchronized with the TV.

• HDMI-CEC defaults to On.

• The “Input mode” key on the Sound Bar is disabled to prevent accidental audio source changes.

• It acquires adjustable Power On and Max Volume settings from the TV’s Hotel menu. The Sound Bar’s volume values will be half of the settings in the TV’s menu. For example, if the TV’s Power On Volume is 20 and Max Volume is 90, the Sound Bar’s Power On Volume will be 10 and Max Volume will be 45.

Installing a wall mount should be done on a solid wall perpendicular to the floor. It is recommended to contact a technician for assistance. If you choose to install it yourself, always have two people mount the TV onto a wall.

Preparation:

• If using a wall mount from another manufacturer, you may need to use the Holder-Ring and Wall Mount Adapter provided with the TV. The shape of these parts may vary by model.

Installation Precautions:

• Use screws that comply with the VESA standard screw specifications listed below.

• Do not use screws that are longer than the standard dimension, as they may damage the inside of the TV set.

• Do not fasten the screws too firmly, as this may damage the product or cause it to fall.

• Do not mount the TV at more than a 15-degree tilt.

• WARNING: Do not install your Wall Mount Kit while your TV is turned on. It may result in personal injury due to electric shock.

VESA Wall Mount Kit Specifications for SAMSUNG HG32NE478B:

To prevent the TV from falling, especially in environments with children, you can install an anti-fall device. Follow these steps for added stability:

1. Fasten clamps firmly onto the wall using screws. You may need additional materials like wall anchors depending on your wall type (these are not supplied).

2. Remove the screws from the back center of the TV, put the screws through the clamps, and then fasten the screws back onto the TV. (Screws may not be supplied with the product; in this case, purchase the correct size.)

3. Connect the clamps fixed to the TV and the clamps fixed to the wall with a strong string, and then tie the string tightly.

NOTE:

• Install the TV close to the wall so it does not fall backwards.

• It is safest if the clamps on the wall are at an equal or lower height than the clamps on the TV.

• Remember to untie the string before moving the TV.

4. Verify all connections are properly secured. Periodically check connections for any sign of fatigue or failure. If you have any doubt about the security of your connections, contact a professional installer.

A Kensington Lock is a device used to physically secure the TV in a public place. The lock and cable are purchased separately.

To lock the product, follow these general steps:

1. Locate the Kensington slot on the rear of the TV. It is marked with a ‘K’ icon.

2. Wrap the Kensington lock cable around a large, stationary object such as a desk or chair.

3. Slide the end of the cable with the lock attached through the looped end of the Kensington lock cable.

4. Insert the locking device into the Kensington slot on the TV.

5. Lock the lock.

For exact instructions, refer to the user manual supplied with your specific locking device. The location of the Kensington slot may vary slightly depending on the TV model.
