– This appliance may not be used without a slice carriage or a left-over holder, unless the size and shape of the food to be sliced means that they cannot be used.
– The appliance must be switched off before changing accessories or add-on parts which move when operated and then disconnected from the mains.
– The rotary blade is extremely sharp. Never touch the rotating blade when the appliance is operating!
– Switch the appliance off before cleaning it; pull the power plug out off the socket and turn the slice thickness adjustment knob to the “0” position.

What should I do before using the food slicer for the first time?
Remove the appliance carefully from the packaging. Remove all packaging parts and keep these together with the packaging in a safe place. Clean the appliance before allowing it to come into contact with any food.
How do I set up the food slicer?
1. Set the appliance down on a flat, non-skid surface close to a mains socket.
2. Using a small amount of force, push the slice carriage (3) vertically into the guide groove on the appliance until it audibly locks into place.
3. Slide the left-over holder (9) onto the slice carriage’s handle.
4. Unwind the power cord (7) to the length required from the cable compartment (8) under the appliance and insert the power plug into the socket.
How do I slice food with the appliance?
1. Use the slice thickness adjustment knob (4) to set the required thickness. The “0” position is designed to cover the blade for safety.
2. Place the food to be sliced onto the slice carriage (3). Use the left-over holder (9) to press it up against the stop plate (2). Protect your hands by always using the slice carriage and, where applicable, the left-over holder. An exception is for excessively large foods to be sliced.
3. Switch the appliance on using the power switch (1).
4. With the appliance running, gently feed the food to be sliced into the path of the rotary blade.
5. Once slicing has been completed, wait until the rotary blade has come to a complete stop.
6. After each use, turn the slice thickness adjustment knob to the “0” position, in order to cover up the sharp rotating blade and to avoid any injuries.
For E 16 / fortis¹ models, you can pull the slice tray (5) to the left and out of the appliance.
What are the different operating modes for the slicer?
Two operating modes are available:
Temporary (Position II): The rotary blade (11) runs as long as the power switch is pressed and held down in this position.
Continuous operation (Position I): The rotary blade runs without the power switch being pressed and held down until you move the power switch to the “0” position.
Note: Never use the appliance for more than a maximum of 5 minutes in continuous operation.
How do I clean the food slicer?
Caution: Switch the appliance off before cleaning it; pull the power plug out of the socket and turn the slice thickness adjustment knob (4) to the “0” position.
Preparation for cleaning:
– Remove the slice tray (5, if applicable) and the left-over holder (9).
– Pull the slice carriage (3) forward and then lift it up and out of the guide groove.
– Remove the rotary blade.
Cleaning after each use:
– Wipe down the housing and all removed parts, including the rotary blade, with a damp cloth.
Occasional cleaning:
– Give all removed parts, including the rotary blade, a thorough wash in warm soapy water (not in the dishwasher!).
– Clean the housing behind the blade using a dry cloth/brush.
Note: Clean the food slicer regularly to prevent the accumulation of food residue. The rotary blade must also be cleaned regularly as described to prevent its surface from rusting. Over time, an accumulation of food residue may cause damage to the surface of the rotary blade, causing it to rust.
How do I remove and refit the rotary blade?
Removing the rotary blade:
1. Place a suitable coin on the blade catch (10) and turn it in a clockwise direction.
2. Take hold of the rotary blade (11) at its rotational centre and remove it.
Refitting the rotary blade:
1. Dry all parts that you have washed.
2. Grease the rotary blade’s gear wheel with a little Vaseline.
3. Fit the rotary blade back into the appliance.
What cleaning agents should I avoid?
Do not use any abrasive cleansers, sponges with rough surfaces or hard brushes to clean the appliance.
Does the food slicer require maintenance?
Your food slicer is maintenance-free. However, it is recommended that you occasionally apply a little Vaseline to the rails for the slice carriage to keep them lubricated and ensure that the carriage continues to move easily.
How should I store the food slicer?
Keep the appliance out of the reach of children. To store the cable, always use the cable compartment (8) integrated into the appliance.
How should the appliance be disposed of?
At the end of its service life this product may not be disposed of as part of normal domestic waste. It must be taken to a dedicated collection point for recycling electrical and electronic devices. This is indicated by the symbol on the product, the operating instructions or the packaging. The materials can be used again in accordance with their identification.
