The PRO’SKIT MT-7058 Mini LAN Cable Tester consists of a main unit and a remote unit. The remote unit stores conveniently on the bottom of the main unit and can be removed or replaced by sliding it from left to right or right to left respectively.

To perform an RJ45 cable test with the PRO’SKIT MT-7058 Mini LAN Cable Tester, insert the cable into the socket of the main unit and the remote unit. Set the left side switch to Sound on or Sound off, and the right side switch to Auto. Then, press the test button to test. The results will be displayed by LED and beeper.

The power LED on the PRO’SKIT MT-7058 Mini LAN Cable Tester should light up whenever the test button is pressed and released. If the power LED turns red, it indicates that the battery should be replaced.

If the Straight LED and the 1-8 numbered LEDs light up with the beeper sounding for 3 times, it means the RJ45 cable has all correct connections when tested with the PRO’SKIT MT-7058 Mini LAN Cable Tester.

If some of the numbered LEDs do not light up, but others light up, and the Straight LED also lights up, it means the cable has an open connection when tested with the PRO’SKIT MT-7058 Mini LAN Cable Tester.

When testing RJ-11/12 cables with the PRO’SKIT MT-7058 Mini LAN Cable Tester:

For 2 conductor cables, LED 4 ~ 5 must light up.

For 4 conductor cables, LED 3 ~ 6 must light up.

For 6 conductor cables, LED 2 ~ 7 must light up.

In all these cases, the “STRAIGHT” LED also lights up. The numbered LEDs do not indicate that a good connection exists; they only show that a connection exists.

If all wires of an RJ45 or RJ11/12 cable are in the wrong order (e.g., reversed 1-8 to 8-1), the Straight LED will light up 1 to 8, 2 to 7 and so on, when tested with the PRO’SKIT MT-7058 Mini LAN Cable Tester.

If 3 & 4 LEDs light up, and all other LEDs do not light up, it indicates that the cable is shorted, and the “Short” LED will light up on the PRO’SKIT MT-7058 Mini LAN Cable Tester.

If the “Crossover” LED lights up on the PRO’SKIT MT-7058 Mini LAN Cable Tester, it means the cable may be misconnected.

To see the misconnection status step by step with the PRO’SKIT MT-7058 Mini LAN Cable Tester, change the left side switch to “Step” to enable the manual function. Each time you click on the test button, the main unit and remote unit LEDs will brighten synchronously. If the numbered LED at the remote unit does not match the main unit LED sequence number, it means the wire is misconnected.

If the remote unit of the PRO’SKIT MT-7058 Mini LAN Cable Tester is not connected to the main unit with a cable, or the cable has no intake conductors, the “No Connection” LED will light up, and the beeper will sound for 4 times.

If the BNC cable is open, both the LED for BNC on the main unit and the 1# LED on the remote unit will not light up, and the “No Connection” LED will light up when tested with the PRO’SKIT MT-7058 Mini LAN Cable Tester.

To use the NCV feature on the PRO’SKIT MT-7058 Mini LAN Cable Tester, set the right side switch to the NCV position and push the test button. As the detect antenna is located at the BNC connector of the tester, bring it close to the BNC connector to the live wires. The LED for NCV will light up with sound if voltage is detected.
