The packaging contents are:

1 – Self-Centering Bit. The specific bit included is 1/4″ (item 71377) if you purchased Model No. 71377 jig, or 5 mm (item 71201) if you purchased Model No. 71201 jig.

1. Select the setback application for your project. The jig supports 1-7/16″ (37 mm) or 2-1/2″ (64 mm) setbacks. Refer to the provided diagrams (Figure 2) for visual guidance based on Face Frame or Frameless cabinet applications.

2. Attach the template handle to the correct edge of the multi-position drilling template for your project using the Template Handle Assembly Pins. The correct edge depends on the setback application you selected (see Figure 2 and 3 for guidance).

1. Place the multi-position drilling template in position on the cabinet. Ensure it is aligned according to your selected setback and application type (Face Frame or Frameless, as shown in Figures 2, 4, and 5).

2. Choose the row of holes on the template to drill. This choice depends on whether your project is a face frame or frameless cabinet. Once chosen, begin drilling the first series of holes.

The self-centering shelf bit jig allows for two setback distances from the edge of the cabinet frame:

1-7/16″ (37 mm) Setback Applications:

– For Face Frame Application: The template is used to position holes 1-7/16″ (37 mm) from the edge of the cabinet frame.

– For Frameless Application: The template is used to position holes 1-7/16″ (37 mm) from the edge of the cabinet side.

2-1/2″ (64 mm) Setback Applications:

– For Face Frame Application: The template is used to position holes 2-1/2″ (64 mm) from the edge of the cabinet frame.

– For Frameless Application: The template is used to position holes 2-1/2″ (64 mm) from the edge of the cabinet side.

The multi-position drilling template has dedicated rows of holes for these setbacks.

The self-centering shelf bit jig spaces shelf pin holes 1-1/4″ (32 mm) apart. These holes can be used with 1/4″ (71377) or 5 mm (71201) shelf pins.

The self-centering shelf pin bit is designed to stop at a set depth. This depth is reached when the internal spring is fully compressed. Before drilling into your workpiece, it is recommended that you practice on a scrap board to get the feel of the bit and ensure the depth is as expected.

To drill a row of holes longer than the template:

1. Drill the first series of holes using the template.

2. Then, move the template to position the first indexing hole on the template over the last hole you drilled.

3. Insert a shelf pin into this hole to lock the template in place.

4. Drill the next series of holes.

5. Repeat this process as many times as needed to complete the desired length of the hole row.
