How do I set up the doner cutter for the first time?
1. Locate the adaptor close to the working area. Protect the adaptor from over temperature.
2. Fit the cable first into the adaptor and then fit the plug into the socket.
3. When turning on the on/off switch, the control lamp of the adaptor shall be in red. The doner cutter is now ready for operation.
Important: When using the doner cutter, the cover must always be fitted in front of the round blade. Remove the plug before performing any actions on the doner cutter.
How do I operate the doner cutter?
1. Hold the switch on in order to turn on the doner cutter. Release the switch in order to turn off the cutter.
2. You may adjust the cutting thickness between the adjustment plate and the round blade continuously variable using the adjustment screws.
3. Splash hazard: When using the product, oil and water may splash. When the cutter is revolving, accumulated oil and water may spread around. Therefore, when operating the product, hold the cutter upside down as displayed in the figure.
4. Cut the meat from the upper part to the lower part. Do not touch the cutter to the steel tray when cutting meat.
5. (Optional) Product cleaning position (upside down): The product shall run in the cleaning mode after the switch is pressed. Do not cut meat at this position.
How do I clean the doner cutter?
Always care about hygiene when using the doner cutter. The product should be cleaned regularly. For this purpose, always keep two cleaning cups close to your working area. Fill one of the cups with hot water and dish detergent, and fill the other cup with cold, clean water.
1. Lower the product upside down into the hot water cup and press the switch. The doner cutter will clean itself (S 150 C / S 180 CB). The cleaning program will last about half a minute. You may stop the program at any time by pressing the switch.
2. Then get the product from the first cup and lower it into the second cup, following the instructions for the cleaning program as described above. This procedure is required for cleaning the dish detergent from the product.
3. Fit the cover before re-operating the product. Wait for a while for the product to dry, then re-adjust the cutting thickness.
For thorough cleaning: You may remove the cover for a thorough cleaning. Be careful not to touch the revolving cutter. Protect the product from over temperature. Do not damage the cutter head with pointed objects in order to not damage the non-stick coating.
How do I sharpen the blade?
In order to use the doner cutter efficiently for a long time, sharpen the round blade regularly (after cutting approx. 40 kg of meat). Follow this procedure to sharpen the blade:
1. Hold the doner cutter safely in an upright position. Push the adjustment plate to the last point in the arrow direction.
2. Run the doner cutter and sharpen the inner part (important!) of the round blade from the bottom, leaning the sharpener at an approx. 15-degree angle without pressing too much. Continue until a thin burr forms around the blade. Move the sharpener up and down while doing this.
3. After you have sharpened the inner part of the blade, lean the sharpener to the blade from the top for a few seconds and remove the burrs of the outer part without pressing too much.
A blade sharpened in a correct way is usable. A blade sharpened in an incorrect way is unusable.
Important: Protect your eyes from sparks which may occur during sharpening. Clean the blade after sharpening. Moreover, wash the sharpener with dish detergent.
How do I replace the blade?
Even the high-quality blades used in POTIS doner cutters should be replaced after a while when used regularly. Important: Remove the plug before replacing the blade.
1. Remove the power cable. Push the adjustment plate to the last point.
2. Get the product into maintenance mode and remove the cover.
3. In order to prevent the blade from revolving, fix the pin (included in the package) to the hole of the round blade as displayed in the figure.
4. Use a metal coin and unfasten the fixing disc by turning it to the left.
5. Remove the fixing disc. Now you can remove the round blade. Be careful, the blade is sharp!
6. Place the new blade in the blade compartment. The logo should be visible on the upper side of the blade.
7. To re-assemble the cutter, apply the disassembly instructions in reverse order.
How do I replace the shaft cartridge on the S 180 CB model?
The shaft cartridge is a part of your doner cutter. Regularly (about once a month) check if the inner part of the shaft cartridge is wet or not, and replace it if required. First, remove the plug from the product, then follow the procedure: Remove the cover and round blade as described in the “Replacement of the Blade” section (steps 1-5).
1. Remove the six Allen screws, which are placed within a circle, with a Phillips screwdriver. Do not lose the screws.
2. Remove the cutter head from the handle.
3. Screw the replacement apparatus to the shaft cartridge.
4. Pull the replacement apparatus strongly to remove the shaft cartridge.
5. Mount the new shaft cartridge to the handle; ensure that the shaft cartridge fits the motor in the handle. Do it carefully, do not apply force.
6. After the connection parts get interconnected, lower the shaft cartridge fully into the handle and ensure that the edges of the two parts are at the same level. For the rest of the procedure, apply the disassembly instructions (1-3) in reverse order. The switch and the lower part of the cutter head should be turned to the same direction. In order to use the product with the left or right hand, turn the handle according to the cutter head.
What is the intended use of the POTIS doner cutter?
The POTIS doner cutter should only be used for cutting doner meat or mince; cutting should be performed vertically, from the upper part to the lower part. Intended use also covers regular cleaning of the product and performance of required maintenance operations.
Check if the inner part of the shaft cartridge is wet or not, and replace the shaft cartridge if required. This is important to prevent damages that can occur due to careless maintenance (damp/moisture entrance).
