How do I navigate the thermostat menus?
Next: Advances to the next menu item in sequence; current selections are held in temporary memory until you press “Done.”
Go Back: Returns back one step in the menu sequence or reverts to the Home Display. Changes are not saved if you select “Go Back” from the first option in a sequence.
Done: Saves settings and reverts to the Home Display.
Cancel: Discards changes and reverts to the Home Display.
What do the different System Modes mean?
HEAT: The system operates in heating mode only. Only the heat setpoint is displayed and active.
COOL: The system operates in cooling mode only. Only the cool setpoint is displayed and active.
AUTO: Allows the system to automatically switch between heating and cooling based on room temperature relative to the heat and cool setpoints. The Cool Setpoint must always be greater than the Heat Setpoint by the deadband value (a user-defined minimum difference).
OFF: Disables all thermostat heating and cooling outputs. Only the zone temperature and time are displayed.
EMERGENCY (Em): (Available if enabled in setup, typically for Heat Pump systems) Uses the emergency heat source. This mode is used when the primary heat pump cannot meet the heating demand.
The available modes depend on the System Type configured during installation.How do I select the System Mode?
1. Press the System soft key to select system preferences. The current selection will flash.
2. Press the ▲ / ▼ keys to scroll through and select Heat, Cool, Auto, Off, or Em (Emergency), if available. The selected option flashes.
3. Press the Done soft key to save your changes and return to the Home Display.
Note: In “Heat” and “Cool” modes, only one setpoint is displayed and active. “Auto” mode uses both Heat and Cool setpoints. “Off” disables heating/cooling outputs. Emergency (Em) uses the primary heat source in applicable systems.
What are the Fan Mode options?
ON: The fan runs continuously, regardless of heating or cooling demand.
AUTO: The fan runs only when there is a demand for heating or cooling (with some exceptions based on advanced configuration).
Note: Several Service Menu options configured by the installer can affect the exact fan operation.How do I set the Fan Mode?
1. Press the Fan soft key to set fan operation.
2. Press the ▲ / ▼ keys to select “On” or “Auto.” The selected option will flash.
3. Select the Done soft key to save your changes.
Note: “On” indicates continuous fan operation. “Auto” indicates the fan activates only with heating or cooling demand (some exceptions may apply based on installation settings).

What do the icons on the display mean?
Service Indicator (Wrench): Appears if remote temperature sensors are reading out of range.
Battery Indicator (Battery Symbol): Appears only when the battery level is low. It flashes when the battery level is critically low. Two AA alkaline batteries provide approximately 1-year life expectancy.
Keypad Lockout (Padlock): Appears if any level of keypad lockout is active, blocking access to certain features.
Filter Indicator (Word “Filter”): Appears in the Default Display when the filter reminder timer expires. It remains until reset.
Secure Digital (SD Card Symbol): Appears and flashes when an SD card is inserted. It allows uploading/downloading settings (optional SD card not provided).
Occupied/Unoccupied: Indicates the current programmed period (e.g., Occupied 1) for programmable models (T8500).
Recovery: Indicates the thermostat is in recovery mode, adjusting temperature towards the next scheduled setpoint.
Days/Mo: Appear during clock or holiday setup to indicate setting day or month.
DE/%: Appear during humidity setup (T8532-IAQ only).
How do I set the clock, month, and day?
1. Press any key to wake the display, then press the More soft key to view menu options.
2. Press the Clock soft key to access clock settings.
3. Press ▲ / ▼ to select 12 HR or 24 HR format, then press Next.
4. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the current hour, then press Next.
5. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the current minutes, then press Next.
6. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the current year, then press Next.
7. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the current month (Mo icon appears), then press Next.
8. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the current date (Days icon appears).
9. Press Done to finish and save the clock settings.
Note: At any time, press Go Back to return to the previous step, or Done to save and exit (if applicable).
How do I change between Fahrenheit (°F) and Celsius (°C)?
1. Press and hold the lower left and lower right soft keys simultaneously for about five seconds. The screen will show Service Menu options with Go Back, Next, and Done.
2. Press Next continuously until the menu number “260” appears on the display.
3. In Service Menu 260, press ▲ / ▼ to select the desired temperature display:
– “1” for Fahrenheit (°F) (default)
– “0” for Celsius (°C)
4. Press Done when you have completed your selection. The Home Display will reappear with the temperature in the format selected.
How do I reset the furnace filter reminder?
1. From the Default Display where the Filter icon is shown, press any key to enter the Filter mode. (Filter, Go Back, and Done options appear).
2. Press Done to reset the filter timer. This restarts the timer with the previously selected time value.
3. Alternatively, press Go Back to bypass the reminder for now and return to the Home Display. The thermostat will continue to return to the filter menu from the Default Display until Done is selected.

How do I program scheduled events (T8500 models only)?
1. Press any key, then press More to view options.
2. Press Schedule to enter the main programming menu.
3. Press ▲ / ▼ to highlight the day you want to program. The selected day flashes.
4. Press Edit to program the schedule for the selected day(s).
5. (Optional) To apply the same schedule to multiple days, press Select Day repeatedly. The selected days flash and become underlined. Continue pressing ▲ / ▼ and Select Day to add/remove days.
6. Press ▲ / ▼ to highlight the specific days to be programmed (ensure they are underlined).
7. Press Next to advance to programming the events for the selected (underlined) day(s).
8. The first event (e.g., Occupied1) will flash. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the event you want to program (Occupied1, Unocc1, etc.), then press Next.
9. Press ▲ / ▼ to set the start time for this event (in 15-minute increments), then press Next.
10. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the desired Heat Setpoint for this event, then press Next.
11. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the desired Cool Setpoint for this event, then press Next.
12. The next event (e.g., Unocc1) begins flashing. Repeat steps 8-11 for each scheduled event you want to program for the selected day(s).
13. After programming the last event for the selected day(s) and pressing Next, you can either:
– Program another set of days by pressing Go Back until the day selection screen appears, then repeat steps 3-12.
– Press Done to exit schedule programming mode.
Note: To program 5-1-1 day or 5-2 days scheduling blocks, refer to Service Menu 100 settings. Block-programmed days flash as a group.
How do I set a temporary override?
1. Press the Override soft key, or press the ▲ / ▼ keys. The current setpoint flashes, and “Hold Until” time appears.
2. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the desired temporary Cool Setpoint (if in Cool or Auto mode), then press Next.
3. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the desired temporary Heat Setpoint (if in Heat or Auto mode), then press Next. (Skip steps if only one setpoint applies).
4. Press ▲ / ▼ to adjust the “Hold Until” time (in 15-minute increments) when the override should end. The installer may have limited the maximum override duration (e.g., 1, 2, 3, or 4 hours beyond the current time).
5. Press Done to save changes and activate the override. The word “Override” will flash on the display while the override is active.
Note: Press Cancel at any time during the setup to exit without saving. Setpoints available depend on the selected System Mode. Override display options can be defined in Service Menus.
How do I set humidity setpoints (T8532-IAQ models only)?
1. Press any key, then press More to view options.
2. Press Humidity to view more options. “DE” appears in the clock area, and the Dehumidify Setpoint shows with %.
3. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the desired Dehumidify Setpoint (the humidity level above which dehumidification should start).
4. Press Next.
5. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the desired Humidify Setpoint (the humidity level below which humidification should start – if applicable equipment is connected and enabled).
6. Press Done. Settings are saved.
How do I program a holiday (T8500 models only)?
1. Press any key, then press More to view more options.
2. Press Holiday to enter the holiday programming menu.
3. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the holiday number (1-20) you want to program. The month and day for that holiday number (if previously programmed) appear below the clock area.
4. Press Edit to set the start date for the selected holiday number. The “Mo” (Month) icon will appear.
5. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the starting month (numerical), then press Next.
6. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the starting day (numerical). The “Days” icon will appear below the date, indicating you are now setting the length. Press Next.
7. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the holiday length in number of days (1-99), then press Next.
8. Now set the temperatures for this holiday period. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the Heat Setpoint for the holiday, then press Next.
9. Press ▲ / ▼ to select the Cool Setpoint for the holiday, then press Next.
10. To program another holiday: Wait for the Holiday number to flash (after step 9), press ▲ / ▼ to select a new Holiday number, and repeat steps 4-9.
11. Press DONE to complete holiday programming and exit.
Note: If “Heat” or “Cool” flashes during temperature setting (steps 8-9), the deadband value is being enforced, and the opposing setpoint may be adjusted automatically.
How do I use the SD card to load or save settings (T8500 models primarily)?
1. Insert the SD card into the slot located on top of the thermostat. The SD icon begins flashing, and Copy and Paste options appear as soft keys.
2. To copy settings FROM the SD card TO the thermostat: Press the Paste soft key.
3. To copy settings FROM the thermostat TO the SD card: Press the Copy soft key.
4. After the copy/paste operation is complete (icon stops flashing), press Go Back to complete the process and return to the normal display. Remove the SD card.
Note: If the SD card is locked (write-protected), only the Paste option (copying from card to thermostat) will appear. You must unlock the card to use the Copy function.
