When power is turned on for the first time, the remote controller will automatically enter the setup screen. Follow these steps for initialization:

Selecting the language:

1. Wait for the display to initialize. When the initializing screen ends, it turns to the normal screen. When any button is pressed, the language setting screen appears.

2. Scroll with the up and down arrows to select your preferred language.

3. Press the enter button to confirm the selection.

Setting the clock:

1. Select with the left or right arrows to choose the time display format: 24h or am/pm.

2. Press the enter button to confirm the selection.

3. Use the up and down arrows to select the year, month, day, hour, and minutes. Use the right arrow to move to the next item and press enter to confirm each selection.

4. Once the time is set, it will appear on the display even when the controller is off.

Front Grille Safety Check:

1. The final step is to confirm if the outdoor unit’s front grille is fixed for safety.

2. Select “Yes” if the front grille is already fixed. The controller will proceed to the main screen.

3. Select “No” if the front grille is not yet fixed. A caution message will appear to remind you to fix the grille before operation. Press “Close” after reading.

After the initial settings, you can use the Quick Menu for common functions.

1. Press the Quick Menu button to display the quick menu.

2. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select a menu item.

3. Press the enter button to turn the selected function on or off.

To return to the Main Screen, press the Quick Menu button or the Back button.

Quick Menu Options:

Force DHW: Turns the Tank Domestic Hot Water (DHW) on or off. It is disabled if Force Heater is on.

Powerful: Operates the system powerfully for a set duration (30, 60, or 90 minutes) or until turned off. It is disabled when the main operation is turned OFF.

Quiet: Operates the system quietly at different levels. You can also set a timer for quiet mode operation.

Force Heater: Forces the heater on. It is disabled if the main operation is already on.

Weekly Timer: Deletes (cancels) or changes the pre-set Weekly Timer.

Force Defrost: Manually starts the defrost operation for frozen pipes.

Error Reset: Restores the previous settings after an error has occurred. Ensure all units are off before selecting this.

R/C Lock: Locks the Remote Controller to prevent changes.

To perform a pump down, follow these steps using the remote controller:

1. From the main menu, press the menu button and navigate to “Installer setup”.

2. In the Installer setup menu, select “Service setup”.

3. In the Service setup menu, scroll down to “Pump down” and select it.

4. The screen will show “Pump down” with the option “ON”. Press the confirm button.

5. A confirmation screen will appear stating “Pump down operation in progress!”.

6. The operation will continue until you manually stop it by selecting “OFF”.

7. After the pump down is complete, the system will return to the start screen.

You can adjust the maximum pump speed through the service setup menu on your PANASONIC WH-UDZ07KE5 remote controller.

1. Press the Menu button and scroll to “Installer setup”. Press Confirm.

2. In the Installer setup menu, select “Service setup”. Press Confirm.

3. Select “Pump maximum speed”.

4. The “Service setup” screen will display “Flow rate”, “Max. Duty”, and “Operation”.

5. Use the up or down arrows to select and change the “Max. Duty” value (Range: 0x40~0xFF).

6. You can also toggle the pump “Operation” between ON, OFF, and Air Purge.

To unlock the Cool Mode, the main operation must be OFF. Follow these steps:

1. Ensure the unit is in standby (operation is OFF).

2. On the remote controller, press the Menu, Up Arrow, and Down Arrow buttons simultaneously and hold for 5 seconds.

3. The “Custom menu” will appear. “Cool mode” will be the first option.

4. The current status will be displayed (e.g., “Disable”). Press the Confirm button.

5. Use the up or down arrow to select “Enable”.

6. Press the Confirm button. The Cool Mode is now unlocked.

An EEPROM default data setup is only possible during the initial power-on initialization process.

1. When the “Initializing…” screen is displayed after powering on the unit, press the Up Arrow, Down Arrow, Left Arrow, and Right Arrow buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds.

2. The initialization process will stop, and the “EEPROM setup” screen will be displayed.

3. The screen will show the progress of the default data setup.

4. Once the EEPROM default data setup process is complete, the initialization process will automatically restart from the beginning.

Error H12 indicates a mismatch between the indoor and outdoor units. This can be caused by a wrong model being interconnected, a wrong PCB being used, or a faulty PCB.

Follow these troubleshooting steps:

1. Determine when the error occurs:

Does the H12 error occur immediately after installation? If yes, proceed to step 2. If no, has the installation setup been modified at the control panel? If yes, check the capacity rank setting at the control panel. If no, proceed to step 2.

2. Check for Recent Service:

Has any indoor or outdoor PCB been replaced or serviced? If yes, check the spare part number against the parts list to ensure it is correct for the model. If the part number does not match, change the PCB to the correct one for the specified model.

3. Verify Model Compatibility:

Check if the indoor unit model and capacity are within the allowable rank for the outdoor unit. For example, the WH-ADC0309K3E5, WH-ADC0309K6E5, WH-ADC0309K3E5B, and WH-ADC0309K3E5UK indoor units are compatible with WH-UDZ03KE5, WH-UDZ05KE5, WH-UDZ07KE5, and WH-UDZ09KE5 outdoor units. If the models are not compatible, rectify the model selection.

4. Check Capacity Rank Setting:

Has the capacity rank been set at the control panel? If not, set the capacity rank. If yes, and the problem persists, there may be an issue with the PCB.

5. Final Step:

After the capacity is set or any corrections are made, turn off the breaker, then turn it back on to operate the unit.

Error H15 indicates a problem with the compressor tank temperature sensor. This can be due to a faulty connection, a faulty sensor, or a faulty outdoor unit PCB.

1. Check Connector: Turn OFF the power. Check the CN-TANK connector on the outdoor unit PCB. Is the connection normal? If not, it may be a poor contact; correct the connection. If yes, proceed to the next step.

2. Check Sensor Resistance: Plug out the connector from the outdoor unit PCB. Measure the resistance of the compressor tank temperature sensor. Compare the reading to the “Compressor Tank / Compressor Discharge Sensor Characteristic” chart. Does the measured resistance match the value specified in the chart? If not, the sensor is defective; replace the compressor tank temperature sensor. If yes, the sensor is okay.

3. Check PCB: If the connection and sensor are both fine, the issue is likely a defect in the outdoor unit PCB (main). Replace the outdoor unit PCB.

Error H20 indicates an issue with the water pump, such as a motor winding problem, broken wire, or faulty indoor PCB. For safety, always switch off the power before removing or connecting components.

1. Initial Check: Turn ON the power and operate the water pump. Does it operate? If yes, stop the pump and proceed to check the feedback signal (Step 5). If no, continue to the next step.

2. Check Connections and Voltage: Turn OFF the power. Check if the water pump connector is connected normally. If not, correct the poor contact. If it is connected correctly, disconnect the water pump connector (CN-PUMP1), turn ON the power, and check the input voltage from the indoor unit PCB.

3. Verify Power Supply: Is the water pump drive power supply voltage between 280-373Vdc (pin 1 & 4) being generated? If not, replace the indoor unit PCB. If yes, proceed.

4. Verify Control Power: Is the water pump control power supply of 15Vdc (pin 5 & 4) being generated? If not, replace the indoor unit PCB. If yes, proceed.

5. Check Feedback Signal: Operate the water pump. Is a feedback signal (pulse) being generated between pin 7 & 4 of CN-PUMP1? If not, replace the water pump. If yes, replace the indoor unit PCB.

6. Check Duty Command: Operate the water pump. Is the duty command range between 0-6Vdc (pin 6 & 4) being generated? If not, replace the indoor unit PCB. If yes, replace the water pump.
