To ensure safe operation of the PANASONIC VL-SVD272, observe the following warnings:

Leave installation work to the dealer. Installation requires specific techniques and experiences. Failure to observe this may cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to the product.

Electrical connection work should be performed by certified personnel only. Certification is required for performing electrical connection work.

Do not attempt to disassemble or modify this product. Contact an authorized service center for repairs.

Never install wiring during a lightning storm.

Do not connect non-specified devices.

When opening holes in walls for installation or wiring, or when securing the power cable, make sure you do not damage existing wiring and ductwork.

Do not make any wiring connections when the power supply is turned on.

Do not install the main monitor or extension monitor in places where it may be splashed with water or chemicals, or in places where there is a high concentration of dust or high humidity.

Do not perform any actions that may damage the power cable, such as fabricating, twisting, stretching, bundling, forcibly bending, damaging, altering, exposing to heat sources, or placing heavy objects on it. Using the product with a damaged power cable may cause electric shock, short circuits, or fire.

When existing chime wires are used, it is possible that they contain AC voltage. Contact an authorized service center.

When installing the PANASONIC VL-SVD272, follow these guidelines to prevent accidents:

Preventing electric shock:

If the wiring is underground, do not make any connections underground.

If the wiring is underground, use a protection tube.

If the wiring is outdoors, use a protection tube or a surge protector.

Preventing injury:

Install the product securely adhering to the instructions to prevent it from falling off the wall. Avoid installing onto low-strength walls, such as gypsum board, ALC (autoclaved lightweight concrete), concrete block, or veneer (less than 18 mm thick) walls.

The following accessories are included for installing the PANASONIC VL-SVD272 components:

Note: Wires for the doorphone and other connections are not supplied and must be locally procured according to appropriate specifications.

To avoid disturbances with the PANASONIC VL-SVD272 doorphone, do not install it in the following locations:

Places where vibration or any other kind of impact occurs.

Places where echoing is frequent, as this will cause the doorphone to beep frequently.

Places near a high concentration of dust, hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, sulphur, or noxious fumes.

Locations where a strong light is shining on the doorphone, such as where most of the background is the sky, where the background is a white wall reflecting direct sunlight, or where direct sunlight shines directly on the doorphone.

Ensure the rear of the doorphone is not subject to water.

When positioning the PANASONIC VL-SVD272 main monitor or extension monitor, follow these rules:

Install the main monitor away from electronic appliances such as TVs, radios, personal computers, air conditioners, boiler control panels with intercom, home security equipment, wireless devices, or digital cordless phones.

Do not install in places affected by extremely high-frequency radio waves, such as near broadcasting antennas, as this may cause the display to flicker or noise to occur.

Leave at least 20 cm of space above, below, and to the left and right sides of the monitor.

Do not install on a wall that is deeply recessed or inside a wall.

Be sure to install the monitor more than 5 m away from the doorphone.

In areas surrounded by a high electrical field, disturbances may occur in the image or sound.

The PANASONIC VL-SVD272 requires single-pair cable with an outer sheath and solid copper conductors. Use the following specifications for wiring runs:

Note: When an extension monitor is used, the total wiring length from the doorphone to the main monitor and then to the extension monitor must be within about 100 m.

When using an electric lock with the PANASONIC VL-SVD272, the following guidelines apply to the connection terminals (S1/S2, S3/S4):

The lock must be an N/O (Normally Open) dry closure contact.

Voltage and current ratings must be 30 V AC (1 A) / 24 V DC (1 A) or lower.

For VL-V554 users: Only connect electric vehicle gate locks to the S3/S4 terminals. Only connect electric door locks to the S1/S2 terminals.

The camera angle of the PANASONIC VL-SVD272 can be adjusted using the camera angle control lever located on the rear of the doorphone. The adjustment ranges are as follows:

Left: Maximum 15 degrees.

Right: Maximum 15 degrees.

Upwards: Maximum 15 degrees.

The angle can also be adjusted to the upper left or upper right, though the image may be slightly distorted in these positions.

To prepare the PANASONIC VL-SVD272 doorphone for installation, follow these steps:

Step 1. Open the screw cover at the bottom of the doorphone.

Step 2. Use a screwdriver to loosen the mounting screw.

Step 3. Remove the mounting base from the doorphone unit.

Step 4. Attach the mounting base to a vertical flat wall securely using the provided wood screws (3.8 mm x 20 mm). To prevent dew condensation, fill the hole for wiring in the wall as much as possible.

After the mounting base is fixed to the wall, follow these steps to install the PANASONIC VL-SVD272 doorphone:

Step 1. Unscrew the terminal screws on the rear of the doorphone.

Step 2. Push the wires (connecting to the main monitor) into the terminal connectors. The connections are non-polar.

Step 3. Tightly fasten the screws. The recommended torque is 0.5 N-m (5.1 kgf-cm), and the maximum torque is 0.7 N-m (7.1 kgf-cm).

Step 4. Mount the doorphone onto the mounting base.

Step 5. Fasten the mounting screw at the bottom and close the screw cover.

Important: Do not cover the water drain holes on the bottom surface of the doorphone and mounting base during installation.

Follow these steps to install the PANASONIC VL-SVD272 main monitor:

Step 1. Select a location where your eyes are at the same height as the center of the display.

Step 2. Attach the mounting bracket to a vertical flat wall using the accessory screws (4 mm x 16 mm). Ensure there is a hole in the wall for wiring (standard hole size approx 60 mm to 83.5 mm).

Step 3. Connect the wires. While pressing on the terminal button with a pointed object like a screwdriver, insert the bare wire (stripped 9 mm at the tip) into the terminal connector. Release the button to secure the wire.

Step 4. Mount the monitor to the bracket. First, line up the tab on the bottom of the bracket with the groove on the main monitor.

Step 5. Line up the tab on the top of the bracket with the groove on the main monitor, and push the monitor down until it is secure.

Important: Do not connect the power cable until all other wiring is complete.

For connection devices used with the option input terminals (IN1, IN2, IN3, IN4) on the PANASONIC VL-SVD272, the following specifications must be met:

Input method: No-voltage contact.

Open-circuit voltage between terminals: DC 7 V or less.

Detection definite time: 0.1 second or more.

Short-circuit between terminals: 5 mA or less.

Resistance value: 500 ohms or less for “make” (closed), 15 kilohms or more for “break” (open).

Note: Emergency terminals should be connected to IN1/IN2. Doorbells should be connected to IN3/IN4. A doorbell and doorphone 2 cannot be used together.
