Here are some basic operations for your PANASONIC SC-XH150 using the remote control:

Turn the main unit on/off: Press the [POWER] button.

Select a source:

– [DVD]: Selects the disc as the source.

– [EXT-IN, RADIO]: Cycles through FM tuner, AUX, ARC, and D-IN sources.

The PANASONIC SC-XH150 has two main power-saving features:

Auto FL display turn-off function: The main unit’s display automatically turns off when the volume is adjusted to “0”.

Auto power-down function: The main unit will automatically switch to standby mode after 30 minutes of inactivity. This occurs when:

– There is no audio signal from an external device.

– Disc playback is stopped or paused.

– iPod/iPhone playback is stopped or paused.

– The disc menu is displayed and play is not selected.

For optimal performance, follow these guidelines for speaker placement:

• Place speakers on flat, secure bases.

• Keep speakers at least 10 mm (13/32″) away from the main unit for proper ventilation.

• Placing speakers too close to floors, walls, and corners can result in excessive bass.

Setup example (Standard surround placement):

Place the front, center, and surround speakers at approximately the same distance from your seating position. The front left and right speakers should be placed at a 60° angle from the center, and the surround left and right speakers should be placed at a 120° angle from the center, relative to the main listening position.

• Center speaker: Place on a rack or shelf. Vibration can disrupt the TV picture if placed directly on the TV.

• Subwoofer: Place to the right or left of the TV, on the floor or a sturdy shelf to avoid vibration. Leave about 30 cm (11 13/16″) of space from the TV.

The center speaker is designed to be used close to a TV, but the picture may be affected on some TVs. If this occurs, turn the TV off for about 30 minutes. The TV’s demagnetizing function should correct the problem. If it persists, move the speakers further away from the TV.

Speaker Connections:

1. On the rear of the main unit, locate the speaker terminals. Each terminal is color-coded.

2. Connect each speaker cable to the terminal of the same color.

3. On the rear of each speaker, insert the wire fully into the terminal. The white wire connects to the ‘+’ terminal, and the blue line wire connects to the ‘-‘ terminal.

4. Be careful not to cross (short circuit) or reverse the polarity of the speaker wires.

Radio Antenna Connections:

Using the supplied indoor antenna:

1. Connect the FM indoor antenna to the FM ANT (75Ω) terminal on the rear of the main unit.

2. Use adhesive tape to affix the other end of the antenna where reception is best.

Using an outdoor antenna (for poor reception):

1. Disconnect the indoor antenna.

2. Connect a 75 Ω coaxial cable (not supplied) from an FM outdoor antenna to the FM ANT (75Ω) terminal. The antenna should be installed by a competent technician.

There are several ways to connect your PANASONIC SC-XH150 to a TV.

Recommended Connection (Best Quality):

Connect a High Speed HDMI cable (not supplied) from the HDMI AV OUT terminal on the main unit to an HDMI input on your TV. If your TV is not ARC (Audio Return Channel) compatible, you will also need to connect an Optical digital audio cable (not supplied) from the TV’s OPTICAL OUT to the DIGITAL AUDIO IN OPTICAL terminal on the main unit to hear TV sound through the system.

Connection with an ARC compatible TV:

If your TV supports ARC, connect an HDMI cable from the main unit’s HDMI (ARC) AV OUT terminal to the TV’s ARC compatible HDMI terminal. This single cable will carry both video to the TV and audio from the TV to the home theater system.

Alternative Connection:

If your TV does not have HDMI, connect a Video cable (not supplied) from the VIDEO OUT terminal on the main unit to a VIDEO IN on the TV. Then, connect an Audio cable (not supplied) from the TV’s AUDIO OUT to the AUX terminals on the main unit.

The Easy Setup screen appears automatically the first time you turn on the unit. Follow these steps:

1. Turn on your TV and select the correct video input for the home theater system.

2. Press the [POWER] button on the main unit to turn it on.

3. On the Easy setup screen, use the arrow buttons to select “Yes” and press [OK].

4. Follow the on-screen messages and use the arrow buttons and [OK] to make the following settings:

• Language: Select your preferred on-screen language.

• TV aspect: Select the aspect ratio that suits your TV (e.g., 16:9).

• Speaker layout: Select “Surround layout (Recommended)” or “Front layout (Alternative)” based on your speaker placement.

• Speaker check: Listen to the test tones to confirm speaker connections.

• Speaker output: Make surround sound settings for speaker output.

• TV audio: Select the audio input connection you are using for your TV (AUX, ARC, or DIGITAL IN).

5. Press [OK] to finish the “Easy setup”.

Presetting Stations Automatically:

1. Press [EXT-IN, RADIO] to select “FM”.

2. Press [MENU]. The display shows “LOWEST”.

VIERA Link “HDAVI Control” is a function that offers linked operations between the PANASONIC SC-XH150 and a compatible Panasonic TV (VIERA) using an HDMI cable connection.

Preparation:

1. Connect the units with an HDMI cable.

2. On the PANASONIC SC-XH150, set “VIERA Link” to “On” in the HDMI menu.

3. Set up the “HDAVI Control” operations on your TV.

Key Features:

• One touch play: When the system is in standby, pressing [► PLAY] will turn on the unit and the TV, switch the TV to the correct input, and start disc playback.

• Auto input switching: When you start play on the unit, the TV will automatically switch to the correct input.

• Power off link: When you turn off the TV, the home theater system will also turn off automatically.

• Speaker selection: You can choose whether audio outputs from the TV speakers or the home theater speakers using the TV’s menu. Selecting “Home theater” will automatically turn on the PANASONIC SC-XH150 if it’s off.

1. Open the Dock for iPod/iPhone on the front of the main unit. First, push the center of the drawer, then pull it out until it clicks.

2. Attach a dock adapter (not supplied) that is compatible with your iPod/iPhone model.

3. Firmly connect your iPod/iPhone to the dock.

4. Press [iPod] on the remote to select “IPOD” as the source. The iPod/iPhone menu will appear on your TV.

5. Press [FUNCTIONS] to select the music or video menu on the TV.

6. Use the arrow buttons [▲, ▼] to navigate and select an item (playlist, artist, song, video) and press [OK] to play.

Your iPod/iPhone will begin recharging while it is connected, even if the main unit is in standby mode.

You can change various settings for language, video, audio, and more through the Setup menu.

Note: Before playback, finalize the disc on the device it was recorded on. It may not be possible to play all discs due to the condition of the recording or how files were created.

Clean the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Never use alcohol, paint thinner, or benzine to clean the unit. Before using a chemically treated cloth, carefully read the instructions that came with it.

Important: Before moving the unit, ensure the disc tray is empty. Failure to do so can severely damage the disc and the unit.

If your unit has no power, please check the following:

• Ensure the AC power supply cord is inserted securely into both the main unit and the household AC outlet.

There are two reasons why the unit might automatically switch to standby:

• The Sleep timer was active and has reached its set time limit.

• The main unit will automatically switch to standby mode after 30 minutes of inactivity due to its auto power-down function.

Here are some common error messages and their meanings:

• “NO PLAY”: You have inserted a disc the unit cannot play, a blank disc, or a disc that has not been finalized.

• “NO DISC”: You have not inserted a disc, or it is inserted incorrectly.

• “IPOD OVER CURRENT ERROR”: The connected iPod/iPhone is drawing too much power. Remove the device, then turn the unit off and on again.

• “F61”: There may be a problem with the speaker cable connections. Check and correct the connections. If the problem persists, consult the dealer.

• “F76”: There is a power supply problem. Consult the dealer.

• “DVD U11”: The disc may be dirty. Wipe it clean.

• “DVD H[number]” or “DVD F[number]”: Trouble may have occurred. Turn the unit off and then back on. If that doesn’t work, disconnect the AC power supply cord and then reconnect it.

If a disc does not start playing, check the following:

• Ensure the disc format is supported by the unit. Some discs containing CD-DA and other formats may not play back properly.

• For recorded discs, ensure they have been finalized on the recording device.

• Check if the disc is dirty or scratched. Wipe it clean with a soft cloth.

• Make sure the disc is inserted correctly with the label side up.

If you are experiencing sound issues, please check the following points:

• No Sound: Check all speaker cable connections to ensure they are secure and correctly polarized (+ to +, – to -).

• No Sound from TV: If you are using only an HDMI connection to a non-ARC compatible TV, an extra audio connection (Optical or AUX) is necessary. Also, ensure you have selected the correct input source (ARC, D-IN, or AUX) on the home theater system.

• No Sound from Surround Speakers: When playing a 2-channel source, you may need to select a surround mode like “MULTI-CH” to get sound from all speakers.

• Humming Heard During Play: An AC power cord or fluorescent light may be too close to the main unit. Move other appliances and cables away.

• Distorted Sound: When using HDMI output, audio may not output correctly from other terminals. If the input source is a bitstream (like DTS), there will be no sound. Select a different audio source (e.g., Dolby Digital) on the disc menu.

If the picture is incorrect or disappears, try these solutions:

• Ensure the unit is connected directly to the TV and not through a VCR, which can interfere with copy protection signals.

• Make sure you have selected the correct video input on your TV.
