• Turn the main unit on/off: Press the power button.

• Select channels and title numbers: Use the numbered buttons (0-9, ≥10).

• Cancel: Press the CANCEL button.

• Source select:

– [DVD]: Selects disc as the source.

– [iPod]: Selects iPod/iPhone as the source.

– [EXT-IN, RADIO]: Selects the FM tuner or the external audio source (FM → AUX → ARC → D-IN).

• Basic playback operations: Use the PLAY, PAUSE, STOP, SKIP, and SEARCH buttons.

• Show on-screen menu: Press the FUNCTIONS button.

• Show disc top menu: Press the TOP MENU button.

• Select or confirm menu items / Frame-by-frame: Use the arrow keys and the OK button.

• Select play/repeat mode: Press the PLAY MODE or -REPEAT button.

• Select sound mode / speaker channel: Press the SOUND or -CH SELECT button.

• Set Sleep timer: Press and hold [-SLEEP]. While the time is shown, press repeatedly to cycle through SLEEP 30 → SLEEP 60 → SLEEP 90 → SLEEP 120 → OFF.

• Adjust volume: Press the + VOL – buttons.

• Mute the sound: Press the MUTE button.

• Show START menu: Press the START button.

• Switch display information: Press the FL DISPLAY button.

• Turn Whisper-mode Surround on/off: Press the W.SRD button.

Other Panasonic equipment may operate when you use the supplied remote. You can change the operating mode to “REMOTE 2” to prevent this.

The main unit and remote control must be set to the same mode.

1. Press [EXT-IN, RADIO] to select “AUX”.

2. Press and hold the Stop button on the main unit and [2] on the remote control until the main unit’s display shows “REMOTE 2”.

3. Press and hold [OK] and [2] on the remote control for at least 2 seconds.

To change the mode back to “REMOTE 1”, repeat the steps above but replace [2] with [1].

• Standby/on switch (POWER I/O): Press to switch the unit from on to standby mode or vice versa. In standby mode, the unit still consumes a small amount of power.

• Open/Close the disc tray: Press the ▲ OPEN/CLOSE button.

• Adjust the volume: Use the – VOL + buttons.

• Connect iPod/iPhone: Use the dedicated dock.

• Power indicator: Lights when the unit is turned on.

• Disc tray: Holds the disc.

• Stop: Press the ■ button.

• Start play: Press the ► button.

• Remote control signal sensor: Receives signals from the remote.

• Display (FL display): Shows current status and information.

The PANASONIC SC-XH150 is designed to conserve power and save energy.

• Auto FL display turn-off function: The main unit’s display automatically turns off when the volume is adjusted to “0”.

• Auto power-down function: The main unit will automatically switch to standby mode after 30 minutes of inactivity, for example:

– There is no audio signal from an external device.

– Disc playback is stopped/paused.

– iPod/iPhone playback is stopped/paused.

– The disc menu is displayed and play is not selected.

How you set up your speakers can affect the bass and the sound field. Note the following points:

• Place speakers on flat, secure bases.

• Keep speakers at least 10 mm (13/32″) away from the system for proper ventilation.

• Placing speakers too close to floors, walls, and corners can result in excessive bass. Cover walls and windows with thick curtains.

Setup example (“Surround layout (Recommended)”):

Place the front, center, and surround speakers at approximately the same distance from the seating position. The angles in the diagram are approximate:

• Front speakers (left and right): Placed at a 60° angle relative to the listening position.

• Center speaker: Placed directly in front of the listening position.

• Surround speakers (left and right): Placed at a 120° angle relative to the listening position.

• Subwoofer: Place to the right or left of the TV, on the floor or a sturdy shelf so that it will not cause vibration. Leave about 30 cm (11 13/16″) from the TV.

• Main unit: Position with at least 5 cm (2″) of space on all sides for proper ventilation.

Depending on the room layout, you may prefer to use all the speakers at the front (“Front layout (Alternative)”).

• Use only supplied speakers: Using other speakers can damage the unit, and sound quality will be negatively affected.

• High volume: You can damage your speakers and shorten their useful life if you play sound at high levels over extended periods.

• Reduce the volume in the following cases to avoid damage:

– When playing distorted sound.

– When the speakers are reverberating due to a record player, noise from FM broadcasts, or continuous signals from an oscillator, test disc, or electronic instrument.

– When adjusting the sound quality.

– When turning the unit on or off.

The center speaker is designed to be used close to a TV, but the picture may be affected on some TVs and setup combinations. If this occurs, turn the TV off for about 30 minutes. The demagnetizing function of the TV should correct the problem. If it persists, move the speakers further away from the TV.

Turn off all equipment before connection. Pay attention to the type of speaker and the connector color when you place the speakers.

Main unit (rear):

Connect the speaker cables to the terminals of the same color. Using the speaker cable stickers is convenient.

Speakers (rear):

Insert the wire fully, taking care not to insert beyond the wire insulation.

• +: White

• -: Blue line

Be careful not to cross (short circuit) or reverse the polarity of the speaker wires as doing so may damage the speakers.

Using an indoor antenna:

Connect the supplied FM indoor antenna to the FM ANT (75Ω) terminal on the rear of the main unit. Affix the other end of the antenna with adhesive tape where reception is best.

Using an outdoor antenna:

Use an outdoor antenna if radio reception is poor. Connect a 75Ω coaxial cable (not supplied) from the FM outdoor antenna to the FM ANT (75Ω) terminal on the main unit. The antenna should be installed by a competent technician.

• Disconnect the antenna when the unit is not in use.

• Do not use the outdoor antenna during an electrical storm.

The recommended connection provides the best picture and audio quality.

Connection without an ARC compatible TV:

1. Connect an HDMI cable (not supplied) from the HDMI AV OUT terminal on the main unit to an HDMI AV IN terminal on your TV.

2. Connect an optical digital audio cable (not supplied) from the OPTICAL OUT terminal on your TV to the DIGITAL AUDIO IN OPTICAL terminal on the main unit.

Connection with an ARC compatible TV:

ARC (Audio Return Channel) allows audio from the TV to be sent to this unit via a single HDMI cable. Be sure to connect to the TV’s ARC compatible terminal.

1. Connect an HDMI cable (not supplied) from the HDMI (ARC) AV OUT terminal on the main unit to the HDMI (ARC) AV IN terminal on your TV.

Note: Please use High Speed HDMI Cables that have the HDMI logo. Non-HDMI-compliant cables cannot be utilized.

Yes, you can use an alternative connection if your TV does not have HDMI or optical outputs.

1. Connect an audio cable (not supplied) from the AUDIO OUT (R, L) terminals on your TV to the AUX terminals on the main unit.

2. Connect a video cable (not supplied) from the VIDEO OUT terminal on the main unit to the VIDEO IN terminal on your TV.

Use this connection to output the original surround audio from your STB, etc., to this unit.

Connect an optical digital audio cable (not supplied) from the OPTICAL OUT terminal on your STB to the DIGITAL AUDIO IN OPTICAL terminal on the main unit.

If the DIGITAL AUDIO IN OPTICAL terminal is already in use for the TV audio, reconnect the TV audio to the AUX terminal using an audio cable.

1. Press in and lift up the cover on the back of the remote control.

2. Insert two R6/LR6, AA batteries so the poles (+ and -) match those in the remote control.

3. Replace the cover.

Battery Usage Notes:

• Use alkaline or manganese batteries.

• Do not mix old and new batteries or use different types at the same time.

• Do not attempt to recharge alkaline or manganese batteries.

• Remove the batteries if the remote control is not going to be used for a long period of time.

The Easy setup screen assists you in making necessary settings after you first connect the system.

Preparation: Turn on your TV and select the appropriate video input mode (e.g., VIDEO 1, AV 1, HDMI) to suit the connection to this unit.

1. Press the power button to turn on the unit. The Easy setup screen appears automatically.

2. Press the arrow keys to select “Yes” and press [OK].

3. Follow the messages and make the settings with the arrow keys and [OK].

• Language: Select the on-screen menu language.

• TV aspect: Select the aspect to suit your TV.

• Speaker layout: Select “Surround layout (Recommended)” or “Front layout (Alternative)” according to your speaker placement.

• Speaker check: Listen to speaker output to confirm connections.

• Speaker output: Make surround sound setting for speaker output.

• TV audio: Select the audio input connection from your TV (AUX, ARC, or DIGITAL IN).

4. Press [OK] to finish the “Easy setup”.

You can perform this setup anytime by selecting “Easy setup” in the Setup menu.

You can set up to 30 stations.

1. Press [EXT-IN, RADIO] to select “FM”.

2. Press [MENU]. Each time you press the button, it toggles between LOWEST (to start from the lowest frequency) and CURRENT (to start from the current frequency).

3. Press and hold [OK]. Release the button when “FM AUTO” is displayed. The tuner starts to preset all the stations it can receive into the channels in ascending order.

“SET OK” is displayed when the stations are set. “ERROR” is displayed if auto presetting is unsuccessful.

Listening to preset channels:

1. Press [EXT-IN, RADIO] to select “FM”.

2. Press the numbered buttons to select a channel. To select a 2-digit number like 12, press [≥10] → [1] → [2]. Alternatively, you can use the preset up/down buttons.

If noise is excessive: Press and hold [PLAY MODE] to display “MONO”. To cancel, press and hold it again until “AUTO ST” is displayed.

Manual tuning:

1. Press [EXT-IN, RADIO] to select “FM”.

2. Press [SEARCH ◄◄, SEARCH ►►] to select the frequency. To start auto tuning, press and hold the button until the frequency starts scrolling.

You can select a source, change settings, and access playback/menus using the START menu.

1. Press [START] to show the START menu.

2. Press the arrow keys to select an item (e.g., Input select, Setup) and press [OK].

3. Press the arrow keys to make the setting and press [OK].

When “Input select” is selected:

You can select a source from the menu: DVD/CD, FM RADIO, AUX, ARC, DIGITAL IN, iPod.

When “Setup” is selected:

You can change the settings for this unit.

When a disc is loaded, you can also access playback or menus from the START menu (e.g., “Playback Disc”).

Preparation:

• Ensure an audio connection exists between the unit and the TV or other device.

• Turn on the TV or other device.

Press [EXT-IN, RADIO] to choose the source that is used to connect this unit to the TV or other device (e.g., AUX, ARC, D-IN).

Making settings for digital audio input:

If you are using a digital connection (ARC or D-IN), you may need to adjust the settings.

1. Press [EXT-IN, RADIO] several times to select “D-IN” or “ARC”.

2. Press [PLAY MODE] and then use the arrow keys to select the mode (DUAL, DRC, PCM FIX, STB).

3. While the mode is displayed, press the arrow keys to select the desired setting.

Press the [SURROUND] button to cycle through different effects.

For “Surround layout (Recommended)” mode:

• STANDARD: Sound is output as it was recorded/encoded.

• MULTI-CH: Enjoy sound from all speakers, even with a 2-channel source.

• MANUAL: While displayed, press the arrow keys to select other modes:

– DOLBY PLII MOVIE: Suitable for movies.

– DOLBY PLII MUSIC: Adds 5.1-channel effects to stereo sources.

– S.SRD (Super Surround): Enjoy sound from all speakers with stereo sources.

– STEREO: Sound is output only from front speakers and subwoofer.

For “Front layout (Alternative)” mode:

• STANDARD: Stereo source is output as 2.1-channel audio. Surround sources provide a 5.1-channel surround-like effect.

• STEREO: Play any source in stereo. Surround effect is unavailable.

• A.SRD (Advanced Surround): Enjoy a surround effect with any audio source.

1. Press [SOUND] to select a sound mode.

Each press of the button cycles through:

• EQ: Equalizer (FLAT, HEAVY, CLEAR, SOFT)

• SUBW LVL: Subwoofer Level (LEVEL 1 to 4)

• C.FOCUS: Center Focus (ON/OFF). Makes the center speaker sound seem like it is coming from within the TV.

2. While the selected mode is displayed, press the arrow keys to make the settings.

Whisper-mode Surround:

This enhances the audio effect for low volume 5.1-channel sound, which is convenient for late-night viewing. Press [W.SRD] to toggle it ON or OFF.

Adjusting the speaker level during playback (Only for “Surround layout”):

1. Press and hold [-CH SELECT] to select the speaker. Each press cycles through L → C → R → RS → LS → SW.

2. While “C”, “RS”, “LS”, “SW” or “S” is selected, press the Up/Down arrow keys to adjust the level for each speaker from -6 dB to +6 dB.

Adjusting the speaker balance during playback:

1. Press and hold [-CH SELECT] to select “L” or “R”.

2. While “L” or “R” is selected, press the Left/Right arrow keys to adjust the balance.

Preparation: Turn on your TV and select the correct video input mode.

1. Press the power button to turn on the unit.

2. Press [DVD] to select “DVD/CD”.

3. Press [▲ OPEN/CLOSE] to open the disc tray.

4. Load the disc with the label facing up.

5. Press [► PLAY] to start play. Press [+, VOL, -] to adjust the volume.

Basic Controls:

• Stop: Press [■ STOP]. The position is memorized. Press [■ STOP] again to clear the position.

• Pause: Press [II PAUSE]. Press [► PLAY] to resume.

• Skip: Press [SKIP ◄◄, SKIP ►►].

• Search/Slow-motion: Press [SEARCH ◄◄, SEARCH ►►] during play for search or during pause for slow-motion.

• Frame-by-frame: Press the Left/Right arrow keys during pause.

Discs that cannot be played: Blu-ray Discs, HD DVD, AVCHD discs, DVD-RW version 1.0, DVD-Audio, DVD-ROM, DVD-VR, CD-ROM, CDV, CD-G, SACD, DTS Music Discs, WMA discs, DivX discs, Photo CD, DVD-RAM, and “Chaoji VCD” available on the market including CVD, DVCD and SVCD that do not conform to IEC62107.

Preparation:

• To view photos/videos, ensure the video connection to the VIDEO OUT terminal is made.

• Before connecting/disconnecting, turn the main unit off or reduce the volume to its minimum.

Connection:

1. Open the Dock for iPod/iPhone by pushing the center and pulling the drawer until it clicks.

2. Attach the dock adapter (not supplied) that is compatible with your device.

3. Connect the iPod/iPhone (not supplied) firmly.

Operation:

1. Press [iPod] to select “IPOD”.

2. Press [FUNCTIONS] to select music or video menu on the TV.

3. Press the arrow keys to select an item and press [OK]. Play starts from the selected song or video.

Basic Controls (For music and videos only):

• Play: [► PLAY]

• Pause: [II PAUSE]

• Skip: [SKIP ◄◄, SKIP ►►]

• Search: Press and hold [SEARCH ◄◄, SEARCH ►►]

Your iPod/iPhone will start recharging when connected, regardless of whether the unit is on or off.

1. Press [DVD] to select “DVD/CD”.

2. Press [START] to show the START menu.

3. Press the arrow keys to select “Setup” and press [OK].

4. Press the arrow keys to select a menu (e.g., Language, Display, Audio, Video, HDMI, Others) and press [OK].

5. Press the arrow keys to select the item and press [OK].

6. Press the arrow keys to make the setting and press [OK].

To return to the previous screen, press [RETURN]. To exit, press [START]. The settings remain intact even if you switch the unit to standby.

You can attach all speakers except the subwoofer to a wall. The wall should be capable of supporting 10 kg (22 lbs) per screw.

1. Drive a screw (not supplied) into the wall. The screw should protrude 3 mm to 5 mm from the wall.

2. Fit the speaker securely onto the screw(s) with the hole(s) on the back of the speaker. Ensure the speaker is securely in place and does not wobble.

To prevent speakers from falling:

You can use a string (not supplied) and a screw eye (not supplied) for extra security. Attach the screw eye to the wall above the speaker and tie the string from the screw eye to the speaker.

• Clean this unit with a soft, dry cloth.

• Never use alcohol, paint thinner, or benzine to clean this unit.

• Before using a chemically treated cloth, carefully read the instructions that came with the cloth.

• Before moving the unit, ensure the disc tray is empty. Failure to do so will risk severely damaging the disc and the unit.

There is no power. Insert the AC power supply cord securely.

• The Sleep timer was working and has reached the set time limit.

• The main unit automatically switches to standby after 30 minutes of inactivity. This is a power-saving feature.

“NO PLAY”:

• You inserted a disc the unit cannot play. Insert a compatible disc.

• You inserted a blank disc.

• You inserted a disc that has not been finalized.

“NO DISC”:

• You have not inserted a disc. Insert one.

• You have not inserted the disc correctly. Insert it correctly with the label facing up.

Check and correct the speaker cable connections. Ensure they are not shorting and are connected to the correct terminals. If this does not fix the problem, consult the dealer.

• The unit may not be operating properly due to an external factor like lightning or static electricity. Turn the unit off and then back on. Alternatively, turn the unit off, disconnect the AC power supply cord, and then reconnect it.

• Condensation may have formed. Wait 1 to 2 hours for it to evaporate.

• For the remote control: Check that the batteries are installed correctly. If they are depleted, replace them with new ones. Aim the remote at the remote control signal sensor on the main unit.

• Check the video and speaker connections.

• Check the power and input settings of the connected equipment (like your TV) and the main unit.

• Check that the disc has something recorded on it.

• During HD JPEG playback, there will be no video output from the VIDEO OUT terminal.

You can reset all settings to the factory defaults, which will clear the password.

While playback is stopped and “DVD/CD” is the source, press and hold the stop button (■) on the main unit and the [≥10] button on the remote control until “RESET” appears on the main unit’s display. Turn the unit off and on again. All settings will return to their default values.

Depending on the condition of this unit or the connected equipment, it may be necessary to repeat the same operation so that the function can work correctly. Ensure all VIERA Link settings are enabled on both the home theater and the TV.

• If the TV is not ARC compatible and only the HDMI connection is used, an extra audio connection (optical or analog) is necessary.

• Confirm the audio connection and press [EXT-IN, RADIO] to select the corresponding source (e.g., “ARC”, “D-IN”, “AUX”).

• When using the HDMI connection, ensure that “Audio Out” in the HDMI menu is set to “On”.

• When using the “Surround layout (Recommended)” mode, press [SURROUND] to select “MULTI-CH”. This will output sound from all speakers even with a stereo source.

• When using the “Front layout (Alternative)” mode, press [SURROUND] to select “A.SRD”.

• Change “TV Aspect” in the Video menu settings (16:9, 4:3 Pan&Scan, 4:3 Letterbox).

• Use your TV’s settings to change the aspect ratio.

• Change the zoom setting in the on-screen menu.

• Check that the iPod/iPhone is connected firmly.

• The battery of the iPod/iPhone may be depleted. Allow it to charge for a while, and then operate again.

• Adjust the position of the FM antenna for better reception.

• If reception is still poor, use an outdoor antenna.
