You should only use the supplied Panasonic AC adaptor PQLV219E.

Base Unit Setup:

1. Press the AC adaptor plug firmly into the base unit until it clicks.

2. Connect the other end of the AC adaptor to a power outlet (220-240 V AC, 50/60 Hz).

3. Use only the supplied telephone line cord. Connect one end to the base unit and the other end to the telephone line jack.

4. If you have a DSL/ADSL service, a DSL/ADSL filter (not supplied) is required between the base unit and the telephone line jack.

Charger Setup:

1. Connect the AC adaptor to the charger.

2. Plug the other end of the AC adaptor into a power outlet (220-240 V AC, 50/60 Hz).

1. USE ONLY Ni-MH batteries AAA (R03) size. Do NOT use Alkaline, Manganese, or Ni-Cd batteries.

2. Confirm the correct polarities (⊕, ⊖) are aligned.

3. Insert the batteries and slide the handset cover on.

Place the handset on the base unit or charger and charge for about 7 hours.

When charging, the charge indicator will be lit and “Charging” will be displayed. When the batteries are fully charged, the charge indicator goes off and “Fully charged” is displayed.

Power on: Press and hold the OFF/POWER button for about 1 second.

Power off: Press and hold the OFF/POWER button for about 2 seconds.

Display Language

When the language selection is displayed after installing the batteries for the first time, perform step 2.

1. Press MENU -> (#)(1)(1)(0)

2. Press UP or DOWN ARROW to select your desired language.

3. Press OK, then press OFF/POWER.

Date and Time

1. Press MENU -> (#)(1)(0)(1)

2. Enter the current date, month, and year (e.g., 150710 for 15 July, 2010).

3. Press OK.

4. Enter the current hour and minute (e.g., 0930 for 9:30). You can press the 12/24 soft key to select the clock format.

5. Press OK, then press OFF/POWER.

One touch eco mode allows you to reduce the base unit’s transmission power by up to 90% in standby mode. To turn this mode on or off, simply press the (ECO/R) button on the handset.

• When ON: “Low” is temporarily displayed, and the ECO icon is shown on the handset display instead of the antenna icon (Y). Note that activating this mode reduces the range of the base unit in standby mode.

• When OFF: “Normal” is temporarily displayed, and the ECO icon disappears.

This mode is cancelled if you set the repeater mode to “on”.

Using the Handset Receiver:

1. Lift the handset and dial the phone number. To correct a digit, press C.

2. Press the TALK button.

3. When you finish talking, press the OFF button or place the handset on the base unit or charger.

Using the Speakerphone:

1. Dial the phone number and press the SPEAKERPHONE button.

2. Speak alternately with the other party.

3. When you finish talking, press the OFF button.

To switch from speakerphone back to the receiver, press the TALK button.

1. When the unit rings, lift the handset and press the TALK or SPEAKERPHONE button.

2. You can also answer a call by pressing any dial key from (0) to (9), (*), or (#) (Any key answer feature).

3. If the “Auto talk” feature is on, you can answer simply by lifting the handset from the base unit or charger without pressing any buttons.

4. When you finish talking, press the OFF button or place the handset on the base unit or charger.

• Adjust Volume: Press the UP or DOWN arrow repeatedly while talking to adjust receiver or speaker volume.

• Hold: Press MENU during an outside call, select “Hold”, and press OK. To release the hold, press the TALK button. Another handset user can take the call by pressing TALK.

• Mute: Press the MUTE soft key during a conversation. The MUTE icon will flash. Press it again to return to the conversation.

• Recall/Flash: Press (ECO/R) to access special features from your telephone exchange or host PBX, such as transferring a call or accessing optional telephone services.

• Call Waiting: If you subscribe to this service, you will hear a tone if another call comes in. Press (ECO/R) to answer the second call. Press (ECO/R) again to switch between calls.

• Call Share: You can join an existing outside call by pressing the TALK button when another handset is on that call.

The key lock feature prevents calls or settings from being made accidentally. Incoming calls can still be answered.

• To turn key lock ON: Press and hold the MENU key for about 3 seconds. The lock icon will be displayed.

• To turn key lock OFF: Press and hold the MENU key for about 3 seconds.

Note: Calls to emergency numbers cannot be made until the key lock is turned off.

The phonebook can store up to 100 names and numbers.

Adding entries:

1. Press the PHONEBOOK button, then the ADD soft key.

2. Enter the party’s name (max. 16 characters), then press OK.

3. Enter the party’s phone number (max. 24 digits), then press OK twice.

4. Press the OFF button.

Finding and calling an entry:

1. Press the PHONEBOOK button.

2. Scroll through the entries with the UP/DOWN arrows or search by the first character by pressing the corresponding dial key.

3. Press the TALK button to call.

Editing entries:

1. Find the desired entry.

2. Press MENU, select “Edit”, then press OK.

3. Edit the name and press OK.

4. Edit the phone number and press OK twice.

Erasing an entry:

1. Find the desired entry.

2. Press MENU, then X. Select “Yes” and press OK.

Erasing all entries:

1. Press the PHONEBOOK button, then MENU.

2. Select “Erase All”, then press OK.

3. Select “Yes”, press OK. Select “Yes” again, then press OK.

1. Press MENU, then (#).

2. Enter the desired code from the table below.

3. Select the desired setting, then press OK.

4. To exit, press the OFF button.

Important: Set the date and time beforehand.

1. Press MENU -> (#)(7)(2)(0).

2. Select the desired alarm option (“Off”, “Once”, or “Daily”) and press OK.

3. If you selected “Once”, enter the desired date and month, then press OK.

4. Set the desired time, then press OK.

5. Select the desired alarm tone, then press OK.

6. Press OK, then press the OFF button. When the alarm is set, the alarm icon is displayed.

To stop the alarm when it sounds, press any dial key or place the handset on the base unit or charger.

This feature allows the unit to reject calls from specified phone numbers. You can store up to 30 numbers in the call barred list. When a call from a barred number is received, the unit sends a busy tone to the caller and disconnects.

Storing numbers from the caller list:

1. Press the Caller ID button.

2. Select the entry to be barred, then press MENU.

3. Select “Caller Barred”, then press OK.

4. Select “Yes”, press OK, then press the OFF button.

Storing numbers by entering them directly:

1. Press MENU -> (#)(2)(1)(7) -> ADD soft key.

2. Enter the phone number (max. 24 digits), then press OK.

3. Press the OFF button.

Up to 6 handsets can be registered to the base unit.

Registering a handset:

1. On the Handset: Press MENU -> (#)(1)(3)(0).

2. On the Base unit: Press and hold the LOCATOR button for about 5 seconds until the registration tone sounds.

3. On the Handset: Wait until “Base PIN” is displayed. Enter the base unit PIN (default: “0000”), then press OK.

Deregistering a handset:

1. Press MENU -> (#)(1)(3)(1).

2. Select the handset you want to cancel, then press OK.

3. Select “Yes”, then press OK.

Turning the Answering System On/Off:

Press the ANSWER ON button on the base unit to turn the system on or off. The indicator lights up when on. You can also turn it on/off from the handset via the menu.

Listening to Messages (Base Unit):

Press the PLAY button (►). If you have new messages, they will play first. Otherwise, all messages will play.

Base Unit Playback Controls:

• Volume: Press UP/DOWN ARROWS.

• Repeat Message: Press REPEAT.

• Skip Message: Press SKIP.

• Stop Playback: Press STOP (■).

• Erase Message: Press ERASE (X) while the message is playing.

Listening to Messages (Handset):

When you have new messages, the new message icon is displayed.

1. To listen to new messages: Press MENU -> (#)(3)(2)(3).

2. To listen to all messages: Press MENU -> (#)(3)(2)(4).

3. When finished, press the OFF button.

Recording a Greeting Message:

1. Press MENU -> (#)(3)(0)(2).

2. Select “Yes” and press OK.

3. After the beep, speak clearly into the microphone.

4. Press the STOP soft key to stop recording.

First, you must set a 3-digit remote access code from the handset menu.

Accessing the System Remotely:

1. Dial your phone number from a touch-tone phone.

2. After the greeting message starts, enter your remote access code.

3. The unit will announce the number of new messages.

4. Follow the voice guidance prompts or use the remote commands below.

Remote Commands:

Making an Intercom Call:

1. Press the INTERCOM soft key.

2. Select the desired handset and press OK.

3. To stop paging, press the X soft key. When the other party answers, speak into the microphone.

4. When you finish talking, press the OFF button.

Transferring Calls / Conference Calls:

1. During an outside call, press the MENU soft key to put the call on hold.

2. Select the desired handset and press OK.

3. Wait for the paged party to answer.

4. To complete the transfer, press the TALK button. The outside call is routed to the other handset.

5. To establish a conference call, press the CONF soft key instead of TALK. All three parties can now talk.

You can locate a misplaced handset by pressing the LOCATOR button on the base unit. All registered handsets will beep for 1 minute. To stop the paging, press the LOCATOR button again on the base unit or press the OFF button on any handset.

Press the dial keys to enter characters and numbers. Each key has multiple characters assigned to it. Press a key repeatedly to cycle through its assigned characters.

• To change the character entry mode (e.g., Alphabet, Numeric, Greek), press the 1/A/? soft key.

• Press the LEFT or RIGHT arrow to move the cursor.

• Press C to erase the character at the cursor. Press and hold C to erase all characters.

• Press (*) to switch between uppercase and lowercase.

Alphabet character table (ABC)

Place the handset on the base unit or charger to turn on the handset.

• Make sure the batteries are installed correctly.

• Fully charge the batteries.

• Check all connections (AC adaptor, telephone line cord).

• Unplug the base unit’s AC adaptor to reset the unit. Reconnect the adaptor and try again.

• The handset may need to be registered to the base unit.

• Ensure you are using the supplied telephone line cord, as an old cord may have different wiring.

• Check that the base unit’s AC adaptor and telephone line cord are securely connected.

• Disconnect the base unit from the telephone line and connect a known working phone. If the working phone operates correctly, the unit may need repair. If the working phone does not operate, there may be an issue with your telephone line.

• If the handset beeps or the battery icon flashes, the battery charge is low. Fully charge the batteries.

• If you have fully charged the batteries but the operating time seems short, clean the battery ends (⊕, ⊖) and the charge contacts with a dry cloth and charge again.

• It may be time to replace the batteries.

• The handset may be too far from the base unit. Move closer.

• Another unit may be in use. Wait and try again later.

• The answering system may be in use. Wait and try again later.

• The key lock feature may be turned on. Turn it off.

• You must subscribe to a Caller ID service.

• If your unit is connected to any additional telephone equipment, remove it and plug the unit directly into the wall jack.

• If you use a DSL/ADSL service, a DSL/ADSL filter is recommended between the base unit and the telephone line jack.

• Other telephone equipment may be interfering with the unit. Disconnect the other equipment and try again.

• The answering system is turned off. Turn it on.

• The message memory is full. Erase unnecessary messages.

• The recording time is set to “Greeting Only”. Change this setting.

• If you subscribe to a voice mail service, messages may be recorded by your service provider instead of your phone. Change the unit’s number of rings setting or contact your service provider.

Disconnect the AC adaptor and telephone line cord from the base unit. Remove the batteries from the handset and leave to dry for at least 3 days. After the handset/base unit are completely dry, reconnect the AC adaptor and telephone line cord. Insert the batteries and charge fully before use. If the unit does not work properly, contact an authorized service centre.

Caution: To avoid permanent damage, do not use a microwave oven to speed up the drying process.

Note: Make sure that the wall is strong enough to support the weight of the unit.

You will need two screws (not supplied) for either the base unit or the charger. The screw placement distances are:

• Base unit: 57 mm apart

• Charger: 25 mm apart

Drive the screws into the wall, leaving a small gap. Mount the unit securely on the screw heads.
