The PANASONIC CU-XZ15AKUAC is an outdoor unit part of a Single Split system. The compatible indoor unit is the CS-Z15AKUAW.

To insert the batteries into the remote control, please follow these steps:

1. Pull out the back cover of the remote control.

2. Insert two AAA or R03 batteries, following the polarity markings.

3. Close the cover securely.

To set the clock on your remote control, follow these steps:

1. Press the CLOCK button.

2. Press the UP or DOWN arrow buttons to set the correct time.

3. Press the SET button to confirm the time.

To switch between 12-hour (am/pm) and 24-hour time format, press and hold the CLOCK button for approximately 5 seconds.

1. Start/Stop Operation: Press the OFF/ON button to start or stop the unit. When the unit is ON, the “OFF” text disappears from the remote control display.

2. Select Mode: Press the MODE button to cycle through the desired modes: AUTO → HEAT → FAN → DRY → COOL.

3. Set Temperature: Press the TEMP UP or TEMP DOWN buttons to select the desired temperature. The selection range is 60 °F to 86 °F (16.0 °C to 30.0 °C).

To switch the temperature display between Fahrenheit (°F) and Celsius (°C), press and hold the down arrow in the SELECT area for approximately 10 seconds.

You can adjust the airflow direction using the AIR SWING buttons on the remote control.

Upper/Lower Direction: Press the vertical AIR SWING button to adjust the flap up and down. You can select an automatic swing or a fixed position.

Lateral Direction: Press the horizontal AIR SWING button to adjust the louvers left and right. You can select an automatic swing or a fixed position.

Important: Do not adjust the flap by hand, as this may cause damage.

Press the FAN SPEED/QUIET button to change the fan settings.

FAN SPEED:

You can cycle through different fan speeds. When FAN AUTO is selected, the fan speed is adjusted automatically according to the operation mode. Select the lowest fan speed setting for low noise operation.

QUIET:

This operation reduces airflow noise. For Multi Split systems, Quiet mode only activates when the button is pressed for all indoor units that are currently switched ON.

POWERFUL Mode (To reach desired temperature quickly):

Press the POWERFUL button to activate this mode. The unit will run at maximum capacity to cool or heat the room quickly. This operation continues until it is cancelled. To cancel, press the POWERFUL button again or turn the unit OFF.

ECO Mode (To reduce power consumption):

Press the ECO button. This mode reduces power consumption for better energy savings without sacrificing comfort. To cancel, press the ECO button again. This operation cannot be used in FAN mode.

The Room Freeze Protection (RFP) function is designed for unoccupied spaces during the winter to protect equipment or appliances from freezing temperatures.

When RFP is selected, the unit operates in Heat mode with high fan speed. If the room temperature drops below the set temperature (50 °F or 46 °F, depending on the setting), the compressor starts. When the temperature rises above the set temperature, the compressor stops. This cycle repeats continuously.

This function is not applicable if the unit is connected to a multi-split outdoor unit. This operation overwrites the current operation mode and can be cancelled by pressing the MODE button.

Disclaimer: This function may not perform if the unit is not energized or is in a protection mode. During RFP mode, POWERFUL, QUIET, and FAN SPEED selections are disabled.

You can set two different preset timers to turn the unit on and off. Follow these steps:

1. Select TIMER ON or TIMER OFF: Press the TIMER ON or TIMER OFF button. You can select timer 1 or 2.

2. Set the time: Use the arrow buttons in the SELECT area to set the desired time for the timer.

3. Confirm the setting: Press the SET button to confirm.

The timer operation follows the clock setting on the remote and will repeat daily once set. The nearest timer setting will be displayed and will activate in sequence.

To cancel a timer: Press TIMER ON or TIMER OFF to select the respective setting (1 or 2), then press CANCEL.

To restore a cancelled timer: If a timer was cancelled manually or due to a power failure, press TIMER ON or TIMER OFF to select the setting (1 or 2), then press SET.

AUTO: The POWER indicator blinks at the initial stage. The unit will select an appropriate operation mode every 10 minutes depending on the room and set temperature.

HEAT: The POWER indicator blinks at the initial stage. This mode heats the room. The unit will take some time to warm up.

COOL: Provides efficient comfort cooling to suit your needs.

DRY: Operates at a low fan speed for a gentle cooling operation to reduce humidity. When FAN AUTO is selected, DRY mode will operate with humidity control.

FAN: Circulates air in the room without heating or cooling.

You may save energy when operating the unit within the recommended temperature range:

HEAT: 68 °F ~ 75 °F / 20.0 °C ~ 24.0 °C

COOL: 79 °F ~ 82 °F / 26.0 °C ~ 28.0 °C

Use the air conditioner in the temperature range indicated in the table below. (DBT: Dry bulb temperature, WBT: Wet bulb temperature)

The power supply requirements for the PANASONIC CU-XZ15AKUAC system are as follows:

Regular cleaning is required for optimal performance. A dirty unit may malfunction and display a “H 99” error code.

Before Cleaning:

• Switch off the power at the circuit breaker.

• Do not touch the aluminum fin to avoid injury.

• Do not use benzine, thinner, or scouring powder.

• Use only soap (pH 7) or neutral household detergent.

• Do not use water hotter than 104 °F / 40 °C.

Indoor Unit:

Wipe the unit gently with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid scratches from sharp or rough items. The coils and fans should be cleaned periodically by an authorized dealer.

Front Panel:

Wash gently and dry thoroughly.

Outdoor Unit:

Clean debris from around the unit and clear any blockage from the drain pipe.

Air Filters (Once every 2 weeks):

1. Remove Air Filter: Raise the front panel. Slide the front panel to the right and pull out to remove. Then remove the air filters from the unit.

2. Wash/Rinse: Gently wash or rinse the filters with water to avoid damaging the surface.

3. Dry: Dry the filters thoroughly in a shaded area, away from fire or direct sunlight.

4. Attach Air Filter: Insert the filter back into the unit. Close the front panel securely by holding it horizontally, matching and pushing it in, closing it down, and pressing both ends and the center.

Replace any damaged filters.

You can operate the unit directly from the indoor unit’s control button.

1. Raise the front panel.

2. AUTO Mode: Press the AUTO OFF/ON button once.

3. Forced COOL Mode: Press and hold the button until you hear 1 beep, then release.

4. Normal COOL Mode: Repeat step 3. Press and hold the button until you hear 2 beeps, then release.

5. Forced HEAT Mode: Repeat step 4. Press and hold the button until you hear 3 beeps, then release.

6. Turn Off: Press the button again to turn the unit off.

To dim or restore the brightness of the indicators on the indoor unit, press and hold the up arrow button in the SELECT area on the remote control for 5 seconds.

For a seasonal inspection after an extended period of non-use, please check the following:

• Check the batteries in the remote control.

• Check that there is no obstruction around the air inlets and outlet vents of both the indoor and outdoor units.

• Use the AUTO OFF/ON button on the indoor unit to select COOL or HEAT mode. After 15 minutes of operation, it is normal to have the following temperature difference between the air inlet and outlet vents:

COOL: ≥ 14.4 °F / 8 °C

HEAT: ≥ 25.2 °F / 14 °C

1. Activate HEAT mode for 2-3 hours to thoroughly remove any moisture left in the internal parts. This helps to prevent mold growth.

2. Turn off the power supply at the circuit breaker and unplug the unit.

3. Remove the batteries from the remote control.

You should SWITCH OFF POWER AT THE CIRCUIT BREAKER and consult an authorized dealer if you experience any of the following conditions:

• Abnormal noise during operation.

• Water or foreign particles have entered the remote control.

• Water leaks from the indoor unit.

• The circuit breaker switches off frequently.

• The power cord becomes unnaturally warm.

• Switches or buttons are not functioning properly.

If the unit stops and the TIMER indicator blinks, use the remote control to retrieve the error code:

1. Press and hold the down arrow in the CHECK area for 5 seconds.

2. Press the up or down arrow buttons in the TIMER SET area until you hear a beep sound, then write down the error code displayed on the remote.

3. Press and hold the down arrow in the CHECK area for 5 seconds to quit checking.

4. Turn the unit off and inform an authorized dealer of the error code.

For certain errors, you may restart the unit for limited operation if there are 4 beeps when operation starts.

The following table lists the diagnostic display codes and their corresponding meanings. Note that some error codes may not be applicable to your model.

The following symptoms do not indicate a malfunction with your air conditioner:

POWER indicator blinks before the unit is switched on: This is a preliminary step to prepare for a TIMER operation that has been set.

POWER indicator blinks during HEAT mode with no warm air: The unit is in defrost mode.

TIMER indicator is always ON: When the Timer is set, the setting repeats daily.

Operation is delayed a few minutes after restarting: This delay is a protection for the unit’s compressor.

Cooling/heating capacity is reduced at lowest fan speed: This setting is for low noise operation; capacity may be reduced. Increase fan speed to increase capacity.

Indoor fan speed reduces in COOL mode: When room temperature nears the set temperature, the compressor stops and fan speed reduces to prevent room humidity from rising.

Indoor fan stops occasionally during heating: This is to avoid an unintended cooling effect.

Indoor fan stops occasionally during automatic fan speed setting: This helps to remove surrounding odors.

Airflow continues after operation has stopped: This is to extract remaining heat from the indoor unit (for a maximum of 30 seconds).

The room has a peculiar odor: This may be due to a damp smell from the wall, carpet, furniture, or clothing.

Cracking sound during operation: This is caused by the expansion and contraction of the unit due to temperature changes.

Water flowing sound during operation: This is the sound of refrigerant flowing inside the unit.

Mist emerges from the indoor unit: During cooling, discharged cold air may condense into water vapor.

Outdoor unit emits water or steam: This is from condensation during cooling or from melting frost during the deice cycle in heating mode.

Discoloration of some plastic parts: This is normal and can be accelerated by exposure to heat, sunlight, UV light, or other environmental factors.

Please check the following points before calling for service:

If HEAT/COOL mode is not working efficiently:

• Set the temperature correctly.

• Close all doors and windows.

• Clean or replace the filters.

• Clear any obstruction at the air inlet and air outlet vents.

If the unit is noisy during operation:

• Check if the unit has been installed at an incline.

• Close the front panel properly.

If the remote control does not work (or display is dim/weak):

• Insert the batteries correctly.

• Replace weak batteries.

If the unit does not work at all:

• Check if the circuit breaker has tripped.

• Check if timers have been set.

If the unit does not receive the signal from the remote control:

• Make sure the receiver on the indoor unit is not obstructed.

• Certain fluorescent lights may interfere with the signal transmitter. Consult an authorized dealer.
