Use your PANASONIC CS-E9JKEW air conditioner under the following temperature ranges for Single Split Outdoor Units:

* DBT: Dry bulb temperature

* WBT: Wet bulb temperature

NOTICE: This model is not suitable for 24-hour non-stopping operation in heating mode below -5°C. When the outdoor temperature is below -5°C and you use this model outside of the above conditions, the outdoor unit might freeze up and stop operation for protection control.

The multi air conditioner system saves space by connecting multiple indoor units to a single outdoor unit. Here’s how it operates:

• It is possible to operate the indoor units individually or simultaneously. The operation mode priority is given to the first unit that is turned on.

• During operation, heating and cooling modes cannot be activated at the same time for different indoor units. The power indicator blinks to indicate that an indoor unit is on standby for a different operation mode.

Caution: PATROL and e-ion operations can be activated even when the air-conditioner is turned off. In this condition, once the e-ion indicator is ON, the unit will operate with AUTO fan speed and air swing. However, this operation cannot be activated or will be deactivated if another indoor unit is activating the heating mode.

The Auto OFF/ON button is used when the remote control is misplaced or malfunctioning.

Press the MODE button on your remote control to select the desired operation mode:

• AUTO mode – For your convenience: The unit selects the operation mode every 30 minutes (Single Split) or 3 hours (Multi Split) based on temperature settings and room/outdoor temperature. The power indicator blinks during selection.

• HEAT mode – To enjoy warm air: The unit takes a while to warm up. The power indicator blinks during this operation.

• COOL mode – To enjoy cool air.

• DRY mode – To dehumidify the environment: The unit operates at a low fan speed to provide a gentle cooling operation.

For energy saving, operate the unit within the recommended temperatures:

• HEAT mode: 20°C ~ 24°C.

• COOL mode: 26°C ~ 28°C.

• DRY mode: 1°C ~ 2°C lower than room temperature.

You can adjust the fan and airflow using the remote control:

• Fan Speed (5 Options): Press the FAN SPEED button to cycle through the options. For AUTO fan speed, the indoor fan speed is automatically adjusted according to the operation mode.

• Vertical Airflow Direction (5 Options): Press the AIR SWING button to adjust the vertical direction. This keeps the room ventilated. If AUTO is set, the louvers swing up/down automatically. In heat mode, the air blows horizontally for a while, then starts to blow downwards.

• Horizontal Airflow Direction: The horizontal airflow direction louver can be manually adjusted.

Note: Do not adjust the vertical airflow direction louver by hand.

Your PANASONIC CS-E9JKEW has several special modes for enhanced comfort:

• e-ion (To enjoy clean & fresh air): Generates negative ions to create a fresh air effect and captures dust on the e-ion filters. Can be activated in all modes.

• PATROL (To monitor air quality): The Patrol sensor detects air quality. If it’s unsatisfactory, e-ion operation starts automatically. Can be activated in all modes.

• MILD DRY COOLING (To improve humidity level – For Single Split System): Reduces air dryness for a comfortable environment. Can only be activated in COOL mode.

• QUIET (To enjoy a quiet environment): Reduces airflow noise. Can be activated in all modes.

• POWERFUL (To achieve temperature quickly): Can be activated in all modes.

You can activate these modes by pressing the respective buttons. Pressing the button again will cancel the mode. Note that PATROL, e-ion, MILD DRY COOLING, QUIET, and POWERFUL cannot be selected at the same time. PATROL and e-ion can be activated even when the unit is off, but fan speed and air swing cannot be adjusted in this state.

To set the timer to turn the unit ON or OFF at a preset time, follow these steps:

Step 1. Press the ON or OFF button in the TIMER section to select the timer you wish to set.

Step 2. Use the arrow buttons to set the desired time.

Step 3. Press SET to confirm.

To cancel the ON or OFF timer, press the corresponding ON or OFF button, then press CANCEL.

Notes:

• When the ON Timer is set, the unit may start earlier (up to 35 minutes) than the set time to achieve the desired temperature on time.

• Timer operation is based on the clock set in the remote control and repeats daily once set.

• If the timer is cancelled manually or due to a power failure, you can restore the previous setting by pressing SET once power is resumed.

You can customize several settings on your PANASONIC CS-E9JKEW:

• Patrol Automatic Start: To have Patrol start automatically when the unit is switched on, press and hold the PATROL button for 5 seconds to enable or disable this setting.

• Indicator Brightness: Press and hold the QUIET button for 5 seconds to dim or restore the unit’s indicator brightness.

• Temperature Unit (°C/°F): Press and hold the down arrow TEMP button for approximately 10 seconds to switch between °C and °F.

• Time Format (12/24-hour): Press and hold the CLOCK button for approximately 5 seconds to switch between 12-hour (am/pm) and 24-hour time indication.

• Remote Control Reset: Press the RC RESET button to restore the remote control’s default settings.

• Reduce Power Consumption: Use curtains to screen off sunlight and outdoor heat to reduce power consumption during cool mode.

Regular cleaning is necessary to ensure optimal performance. Before cleaning, always switch off the power supply. Do not touch the aluminum fin, as sharp parts may cause injury.

Washing Instructions:

• Do not use benzene, thinner, or scouring powder.

• Use only soap (approx. pH7) or neutral household detergent.

• Do not use water hotter than 40°C.

Cleaning Procedures:

• Front Panel: Raise and pull to remove the front panel. Wash it gently and dry it. To close, press down on both ends of the panel to close it securely.

• e-ion Filters: Clean the filters regularly. Wash/rinse them gently with water to avoid damage. Dry the filters thoroughly in the shade, away from fire or direct sunlight. Replace any damaged filter.

• Indoor Unit: Wipe the unit gently with a soft, dry cloth.

• Active e-ion Generator: Clean with a dry cotton bud. Cleaning is recommended every 6 months.

For seasonal inspection after extended non-use:

• Check the remote control batteries.

• Ensure there is no obstruction at the air inlet and air outlet vents.

• Use the Auto OFF/ON button on the unit to select Cooling or Heating operation. After 15 minutes of operation, it is normal to have the following temperature difference between the air inlet and air outlet vents:

• Cooling: ≥ 8°C

• Heating: ≥ 14°C

For extended non-use:

• Activate Heat mode for 2-3 hours to remove moisture left in the internal parts thoroughly.

• Turn off the power supply.

• Remove the remote control batteries.

The following symptoms do not indicate a malfunction with your PANASONIC CS-E9JKEW:

Before calling for service, please check the following points:

If the unit stops and the timer indicator blinks, use the remote control to retrieve the error code:

Step 1. Press and hold the CHECK button for 5 seconds.

Step 2. Press the up or down arrow buttons until you hear a beep sound, then jot down the error code displayed.

Step 3. Press the CHECK button again for 5 seconds to quit checking.

Step 4. Turn the unit off and reveal the error code to an authorized dealer.

Note: For certain errors, you may be able to restart the unit with limited operation, which will be indicated by 4 beeps when the operation starts.

Step 1. Pull out the battery cover.

Step 2. Insert AAA or R03 batteries. They can be used for approximately 1 year.

Step 3. Close the cover.

Step 4. Press the CLOCK button.

Step 5. Use the arrow buttons to set the time.

Step 6. Press the SET button to confirm.
