When you purchase the ONKYO ABX-N300, the following accessories are included:

• Remote controller (RC-806S) with a pre-installed lithium button battery (CR2025).

• AC adapter (DC output 16V 3A). The specific adapter may vary by country.

Note: Only use the AC adapter that is included with the ONKYO ABX-N300. Using any other adapter could cause damage.

Before first use, remove the plastic film from the battery compartment. When using the remote controller, point it toward the remote control sensor on the ONKYO ABX-N300 from a distance of approximately 5 meters (16 ft.) and within a 30-degree angle to the left or right of the sensor.

For reliable operation, avoid exposing the ONKYO ABX-N300 to bright light like direct sunlight or inverter-type fluorescent lights. Also, ensure there are no obstacles between the remote and the unit’s sensor.

To replace the battery in the ONKYO ABX-N300’s remote controller, follow these steps:

Step 1. While sliding the stopper on the back of the remote to the side, pull out the battery holder.

Step 2. Remove the old battery and insert a new 3V lithium button battery (CR2025) into the holder. Ensure the positive (+) side is facing up.

Step 3. Slide the battery holder back into the remote controller until it clicks into place.

Note: Always use the specified battery type (CR2025). Using the wrong battery could risk fire or explosion. Expired batteries should be removed promptly to prevent damage from leakage.

The ONKYO ABX-N300 is compatible with the following models:

• iPod touch (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation)

• iPod classic

• iPod nano (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th generation)

• iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPhone

Before use, ensure your iPod/iPhone is updated to the latest software version.

The ONKYO ABX-N300 uses the Universal Dock system. To insert your iPod/iPhone, you should use a compatible dock adapter (either one included with your Apple device or a commercially available one). If your iPod is a compact model without a compatible adapter, you may connect it directly.

To install a dock adapter:

Step 1. Slide the cover on the top of the unit to the left to expose the dock.

Step 2. Align the front edge of the dock adapter with the front of the dock opening.

Step 3. Press down on the rear edge of the adapter until it clicks into place.

To remove the dock adapter, insert a slotted screwdriver or a similar object into the small slit on the adapter and gently lift it up.

Caution: Always insert or remove your iPod/iPhone in a straight line without excessive force to avoid damaging the connector. If your device is in a case, you may need to remove it to ensure a proper connection.

To turn on the ONKYO ABX-N300, press the [ON/STANDBY] button on the top panel or the remote controller. When powered on, the downlight located in the lower part of the unit will illuminate.

To put the ONKYO ABX-N300 into standby mode, press the [ON/STANDBY] button again.

To select an input source, press the [INPUT] button on the top panel of the ONKYO ABX-N300 or the INPUT [◀]/[▶] buttons on the remote controller.

Each press will cycle through the available sources in the following order:

iPod → Rocketboost (North American models only) → LINE → AirPlay → Media Server → Internet Radio

To adjust the volume, use the VOL [▲]/[▼] buttons on the top panel of the ONKYO ABX-N300 or the VOLUME [▲]/[▼] buttons on the remote controller. The volume can be adjusted from “0” to “39,” and “Max.”

To mute the sound (using the remote controller only), press the [MUTING] button. “Muting” will appear on the display. To unmute, press the [MUTING] button again. Muting is also disabled when you adjust the volume or turn the power off and on again.

Using the remote controller, you can adjust the brightness of the downlight located below the speakers. Press the [DIMMER] button on the remote to cycle through the brightness settings. The cycle is: Bright (default) → Dim → Off.

You can adjust the tone controls using the remote controller. Note that these adjustments do not affect sound through headphones.

Step 1. Press the [TONE] button. The display will show “Tone Control,” and the Bass setting value will blink.

Step 2. Use the [▲]/[▼] buttons to adjust the Bass value within the range of -3 to +3.

Step 3. Press the [ENTER] button. The value for the Treble setting will now blink.

Step 4. Use the [▲]/[▼] buttons to adjust the Treble value within the range of -3 to +3.

Step 5. Press the [ENTER] button to confirm. The original display will reappear.

If you do not press any buttons for eight seconds during the adjustment process, the display will automatically return to its previous state.

To enhance the ultra-low range sound, you can use the Super Bass function with the remote controller. Press the [S.BASS] button on the remote to toggle the function on and off. When active, “S.BASS” will appear on the display. The default setting is Off.

You can disable the beep tone that sounds when you operate the touch screen using the remote controller.

Step 1. With the ONKYO ABX-N300 in standby mode, press the [MENU] button on the remote.

Step 2. Use the [▲]/[▼] buttons to select “Beep,” and then press [ENTER].

Step 3. Use the [▲]/[▼] buttons to select “Off,” and press [ENTER] to confirm.

To re-enable the beep tone, repeat the process and select “On” in step 3.

Follow these steps to play music from your Apple device:

Step 1. Move the slide cover on top of the ONKYO ABX-N300 to the left to expose the dock connector.

Step 2. Power on the ONKYO ABX-N300 and select “iPod” as the input source.

Step 3. Securely insert your iPod or iPhone into the dock. If you are using a dock adapter, ensure it is installed first.

Step 4. Press the [▶/II] button on the unit or the remote controller to start playback.

To pause playback, press the [▶/II] button again. To select different songs or fast forward/reverse, use the [I◀◀]/[▶▶I] buttons on the remote controller.

You can control playback modes using the remote controller.

Random (Shuffle) Playback:

• To activate, press the [SHUFFLE] button. The shuffle symbol will appear on your iPod/iPhone screen.

• To start random playback, press the [▶/II] button.

• To cancel, press the [SHUFFLE] button again.

Repeat Playback:

• Press the [REPEAT] button to cycle through repeat modes.

• “Repeat one song” will repeat the current track.

• “Repeat all songs” will repeat the entire playlist or album.

• To cancel, press the [REPEAT] button until the repeat symbol disappears from your iPod/iPhone screen.

To use AirPlay, your ONKYO ABX-N300 must be connected to your network. You will also need an iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad with iOS 4.2 or greater, or a computer with iTunes 10 or greater.

Step 1. On the ONKYO ABX-N300, select “AirPlay” as the input source using the [INPUT] button.

Step 2. On your Apple device or in iTunes on your computer, tap or click the AirPlay icon.

Step 3. From the list of available devices, select “Onkyo ABX-N300 ******” (the default name).

Step 4. Start playback on your device or in iTunes. The audio will now stream to your ONKYO ABX-N300.

To listen to Internet Radio, the ONKYO ABX-N300 must be connected to a network with internet access.

Step 1. Select “Internet Radio” as the input source using the [INPUT] button on the unit or remote.

Step 2. A list of categories will appear (e.g., “Stations By Location,” “Favorites”). Use the [▲]/[▼] buttons to highlight a category and press [ENTER].

Step 3. Continue navigating through the sub-menus (e.g., regions, countries, genres) using the [▲]/[▼] and [ENTER] buttons.

Step 4. When you have found a station you wish to listen to, highlight it and press [ENTER]. The unit will connect to the station and begin playback after a brief buffering period.

First, ensure your computer or media server is set up to share media (e.g., using Windows Media Player 11/12) and is on the same network as your ONKYO ABX-N300.

Step 1. Turn on your ONKYO ABX-N300 and select “Media Server” as the input.

Step 2. A list of available network servers will appear on the display.

Step 3. Use the [▲]/[▼] buttons to select the server you want to use, then press [ENTER].

Step 4. Navigate through the folders on your server using the [▲]/[▼] and [ENTER] buttons to find the music file you want to play.

Step 5. Select the music file and press [ENTER] to start playback.

You can use the remote controller’s buttons to pause, stop, or switch tracks during playback.

You can set the clock using the remote controller while the unit is in standby mode.

Step 1. While the ONKYO ABX-N300 is in standby, press the [TIMER] button.

Step 2. Use the [▲]/[▼] buttons to select “Clock Setup,” and press [ENTER].

Step 3. The time display will blink. Use the [▲]/[▼] buttons to set the correct time. Hold the buttons to change the value continuously. You can press the [DISPLAY] button to switch between 12-hour and 24-hour format. Once set, press [ENTER].

Step 4. The day of the week will now blink. Use the [▲]/[▼] buttons to select the current day.

Step 5. Press the [ENTER] button. The setting is complete, and the display will return to the standby condition.

To view the clock while in standby mode, press the [DISPLAY] button, and the time and day will be shown for eight seconds.

The ONKYO ABX-N300 has two programmable timers that can automatically play your docked iPod/iPhone. Ensure your device is docked and ready for playback before setting.

Step 1. With the unit in standby mode, press the [TIMER] button on the remote.

Step 2. Use [▲]/[▼] to select “Timer1 Setup” or “Timer2 Setup” and press [ENTER].

Step 3. Use [▲]/[▼] to select “Timer1 On” or “Timer2 On” and press [ENTER].

Step 4. Use [▲]/[▼] to set the timer-on time and press [ENTER].

Step 5. Use [▲]/[▼] to set the timer-off time and press [ENTER].

Step 6. Use [▲]/[▼] to select “Everyday” (for all days) or “Every” (to select specific days) and press [ENTER]. If you chose “Every,” use the [I◀◀]/[▶▶I] and [▲]/[▼] buttons to select which days the timer will be active, then press [ENTER].

Step 7. Use [▲]/[▼] to set the desired playback volume and press [ENTER]. The timer is now set.

To switch a set timer on or off, navigate to the Timer Setup menu, select the timer, choose “On” or “Off,” and press [ENTER].

Snooze Function:

When playback has been started by a timer, you can temporarily stop it by pressing the [SNOOZE] button on the remote. Playback will pause and automatically resume in five minutes.

Sleep Timer:

The sleep timer automatically puts the ONKYO ABX-N300 into standby mode after a set period.

• Press the [SLEEP] button on the remote. The display will show “Sleep 90 min.”

• Each subsequent press of the [SLEEP] button will decrease the time in 10-minute intervals (90, 80, 70…10 min).

• To cancel the sleep timer, press the [SLEEP] button repeatedly until “Sleep Off” is displayed.

Make sure you have your network’s security key (password) ready. Perform these steps with the unit in standby mode.

Step 1. Unfold the Wireless LAN antenna on the back of the unit. Ensure no Ethernet cable is connected.

Step 2. Press the [MENU] button on the remote controller.

Step 3. Select “Standby Mode,” press [ENTER], then select “Network,” and press [ENTER].

Step 4. Press [MENU] again. Select “Network Setup” and press [ENTER].

Step 5. Use [▲]/[▼] to select “Wireless,” and press [ENTER]. The unit will scan for available networks.

Step 6. Select your wireless network’s name (AP) from the list and press [ENTER].

Step 7. Select the correct security type for your network and press [ENTER].

Step 8. Use the remote’s directional buttons to enter your security key (password). Use [I◀◀]/[▶▶I] to move the cursor, [▲]/[▼] to switch character groups, and [ENTER] to input a character.

Step 9. After entering the key, move the cursor to “OK” and press [ENTER]. The system will restart and attempt to connect. “Succeeded” will be displayed upon a successful connection.

If your router supports DHCP, the connection will be configured automatically.

Step 1. Disconnect the AC adapter. Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the ETHERNET port on the back of the ONKYO ABX-N300.

Step 2. Wait at least ten seconds, then reconnect the AC adapter.

Step 3. With the unit in standby, press [MENU] on the remote.

Step 4. Select “Standby Mode,” press [ENTER], then select “Network,” and press [ENTER].

Step 5. Press [MENU] again, select “Network Setup,” and press [ENTER].

Step 6. Select “Ethernet” and press [ENTER].

Step 7. Select “Enable” for DHCP and press [ENTER]. The system will restart and connect. “Succeeded” will be displayed if the connection is successful.

If your network requires manual settings, select “Disable” for DHCP in step 7 and manually enter the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS Server information provided by your network administrator or ISP.

You can view network details like the IP and MAC addresses while the unit is in standby mode. The “Standby Mode” must be set to “Network” to access this information.

Step 1. While the ONKYO ABX-N300 is in standby, press the [MENU] button on the remote.

Step 2. If Standby Mode is set to “Normal,” first select “Standby Mode,” press [ENTER], select “Network,” and press [ENTER]. Then press [MENU] again to return to the main menu.

Step 3. Use the [▲]/[▼] buttons to select “Network Info,” and press [ENTER].

Step 4. The IP Address will be displayed. Press [ENTER] again to view the MAC Address.

You can edit the name that appears for your ONKYO ABX-N300 on the network (e.g., in the AirPlay device list) using a web browser on a computer connected to the same network.

Step 1. Find the IP address of your ONKYO ABX-N300 by following the steps to check its network information.

Step 2. On your computer, open a web browser and enter the unit’s IP address into the address bar.

Step 3. The “WEB Setup Menu” will appear. From the menu on the left, choose “Profile Configuration.”

Step 4. Edit the text in the “Digital Media Player Name” field to your desired name.

Step 5. Press the [Apply] button to save the change.

The ONKYO ABX-N300 supports different formats for Internet Radio and Media Server functions.

Internet Radio Function:

Media Server Function:

If you encounter a problem, you can try resetting the ONKYO ABX-N300 to its factory settings. Note that this will erase your customized settings.

Step 1. While the ONKYO ABX-N300 is in standby mode, press the [MENU] button on the remote.

Step 2. Use the [▲]/[▼] buttons to select “Reset,” and press [ENTER]. The screen will show “Cancel.”

Step 3. To proceed with the reset, use the [▲]/[▼] buttons to select “Settings,” and press [ENTER]. All settings (except for network settings) will revert to their factory defaults, and the unit will enter standby mode.

If you need to reset only the network-related functions, select “Network” instead of “Settings” in Step 3. Only perform this if the network or iPod/iPhone network functions are not working properly.

If the ONKYO ABX-N300 will not power on, please check the following:

• Ensure the AC adapter is securely plugged into both the wall outlet and the DC IN jack on the back of the unit.

• Try unplugging the AC adapter from the wall outlet, wait for at least ten seconds, and then plug it back in.

If there is no sound, please check these points:

• Make sure the volume is not set too low or muted.

• Ensure the correct input source is selected.

• Check all physical connections to external devices and ensure they are secure.

• If headphones are connected, sound will not be output from the speakers. Disconnect the headphones.

If you are unable to control your docked iPod or iPhone, try the following:

• Make sure your iPod/iPhone is properly and securely seated in the dock.

• Remove any case from your iPod/iPhone, as even thin cases can prevent a proper connection.

• Disconnect your device from the dock and then firmly re-insert it.

• Depending on your iPod/iPhone model, software version, or the content being played, some functions may not work as expected.

If your device is not charging, check the following:

• Ensure the iPod/iPhone is fully and correctly seated in the dock connector.

• Remove the device from the dock and re-insert it firmly.

• If your iPod/iPhone is in a case, remove it before docking.

If the display shows “No Dock” or “Connecting” even when the device is connected, disconnect the device, power off the ONKYO ABX-N300, then turn it back on and reconnect your device.

If you are having network-related issues, please try these troubleshooting steps:

• Verify that your network server (computer) and router are powered on and functioning correctly.

• Check that all network cables are securely connected.

• Ensure the correct IP address is assigned to the ONKYO ABX-N300 by checking the “Network Info” menu.

• For wireless connections, a weak radio signal can cause interruptions. Try moving the unit closer to the router or try connecting with a wired Ethernet cable.

• If an Internet radio station won’t play, it may be off-air or busy. Try again later or select a different station.

• Try restarting your network equipment. Power off the ONKYO ABX-N300, your router, and your modem. Wait a minute, then power them back on in order: modem, router, then the ONKYO ABX-N300.

If you’re not getting audio via AirPlay, try these solutions:

• After switching the input to something other than “AirPlay,” pause the music in iTunes or on your iOS device for at least ten seconds before resuming playback.

• On your playback device, click the AirPlay icon to temporarily deselect the ONKYO ABX-N300, then reselect it and try playing again.

• Try turning the ONKYO ABX-N300’s power off and then on again. Alternatively, disconnect the AC adapter, wait ten seconds, and reconnect it.

• Try restarting iTunes or your iPod touch/iPhone/iPad.

• Try resetting the ONKYO ABX-N300 to factory defaults.
