For compliance with UL and CSA standards, the OMRON NX-ECC202 must be operated within the following environmental conditions:

• Ambient Temperature: 0°C to +55°C

The external power supply for the OMRON NX-ECC202 must be an isolated DC source. It must be equipped with an over-current protection with the following current limitations:

• For NX-ECC201: 4A

• For NX-ECC202: 8A

The following LAN cable specifications should be used for the OMRON NX-ECC202:

Input and output wiring must be in accordance with Class I, Div. 2 wiring methods and in accordance with the authority having jurisdiction. The T-Code is T4A.

1. This equipment is suitable for use in Class I, Div. 2, Group A, B, C, D or Non-Hazardous Locations Only.

2. WARNING: Explosion Hazard – Substitution of Components may Impair Suitability for Class I, Div. 2.

3. WARNING: Explosion Hazard – Do not Disconnect Equipment Unless Power Has Been Switched off or the Area Is Known to Be Non-Hazardous.

4. This device is open-type and is required to be installed in an enclosure suitable for the environment and can only be accessed with the use of a tool or key.

The OMRON NX-ECC202 must be installed vertically only on a DIN track.

Do not use ferrule terminals. Insert the strand or solid wire directly into the holes on the terminal block. Please select a wire size suitable for the rated current.

• Always confirm safety at the destination of the data before you transfer data from Sysmac Studio. The controller may perform unexpected operation regardless of the operating mode of the CPU Unit.

• Provide external safety measures, such as emergency stop circuits, interlock circuits, and limit circuits, to ensure safety in the entire system if a fault in the PLC or an external factor results in abnormal operation. Abnormal operation may result in serious accidents.

• The outputs may remain ON or OFF due to a fault in an output relay or transistor. Provide an external monitoring system to monitor for output signals that may result in a serious accident.

• If the external power supply for the slave is overloaded or short-circuited, the voltage will drop, outputs may turn OFF, and the system may not be able to read inputs. Provide an external safety measure to ensure system safety in this case.

• Implement safety measures in your system to provide protection against incorrect operation in the event of a disconnected signal line or momentary power interruption.

• Use voltages and currents that are within the specified ranges. Using values outside the specified ranges may result in malfunction or fire.

• Do not touch any of the terminals while the power is on to avoid electrical shock.

• Do not attempt to disassemble the Unit or touch internal components while the power is on. High-voltage and sharp parts are present that can cause electrical shock or injury.

• Always confirm that the task period is not exceeded before you perform online editing. If the task execution time exceeds the task period, I/O refreshing may not be performed correctly.

• Do not drop the product or subject it to abnormal vibration or shock.

• Do not pull on cables or bend them beyond their natural limit. Do not place heavy objects on top of cables.

• When wiring or installing the Units, do not allow metal fragments to enter the Units.

• Before you operate the system, register the NX Units connected to the Communications Coupler Unit in the unit configuration information of the communications master unit.

• Check the user program, data, and parameter settings for correctness before you use a Unit for actual operation.

• Use a power supply voltage that is specified in the relevant manual.

• Turn OFF the power supply to the Units before performing any of the following: mounting/removing Units, assembling Units, setting switches, connecting cables, or connecting/removing connectors or the terminal block.

• The power indicator will remain lit for a few seconds after the power supply is turned OFF. Make sure that the power indicator is not lit before you perform any operation.

• Confirm that no adverse effects will occur in the system before you attempt any of the following: changing the operating mode of the CPU Unit, changing the user program or settings, changing set values or present values, or force-setting/resetting bits and words.

• Do not exceed the maximum connection distances and number of connected Units.

• Check the placement of the terminal blocks and connectors carefully, and make sure that any locking devices for them are correctly locked into place.

• Do not turn OFF the power while data is being transferred.

• Install and wire the product correctly according to the relevant manual.

• Do not operate or store the Controller in the following locations:

– Locations subject to direct sunlight.

– Locations where temperatures or humidity are outside the specified range.

– Locations subject to sudden temperature changes that result in condensation.

– Locations with corrosive or flammable gases.

– Locations with excessive dust, salt, or iron powder.

– Locations subject to water, oil, or chemicals.

– Locations subject to shock or vibration.

• Take appropriate shielding measures when installing in the following locations:

– Locations subject to strong high-frequency noise.

– Locations subject to static electricity or other forms of noise.

– Locations subject to strong electromagnetic fields.

– Locations where the product may be exposed to radiation.

– Locations in proximity to power lines.

• Before you touch a Unit, be sure to first touch a grounded metallic object to discharge any static build-up.

• Use the Power Supply Unit at the rated voltage. Take measures to ensure a stable, rated voltage and frequency are supplied.

The OMRON NX-ECC202 is a class A product. In residential areas, it may cause radio interference, in which case the user may be required to take adequate measures to reduce interference. To ensure compliance with EMC Directives, follow these guidelines:

• The product is compliant with EMC Directives when installed as part of a complete PLC system.

• Follow the installation and wiring precautions in the relevant manuals.

• The Controller must be installed within a control panel.

• You must use reinforced insulation or double insulation for the DC power supplies connected to the Power Supply Units.
