What is the Oberon Model 39-1021-ANTPLATE?
The 39-1021-ANTPLATE is an internal directional antenna mounting plate kit designed for use inside the model 1021-00.
What important information should I know for installing the Model 1021?
1. Always consider potential hazards to others around you.
2. During installation, use warning signs, etc.
3. Be sure to securely fasten the enclosure to prevent it from becoming dislodged.
What are the important notes regarding the enclosure’s temperature, color, and NEMA rating?
1) When installed in enclosure, operating temperature range of the Access Point should be de-rated (lowered) by the amount shown in the specification sheet.
2) The operating temperature de-rating does not include solar loading on the enclosure. Oberon’s NEMA 4 products are white or light grey to reduce heating caused by solar loading, however, enclosures mounted in direct sun my get very warm. Painting the enclosures a dark color will increase solar heating. Mount enclosure out of direct sun when possible, to reduce solar loading.
3) Cable ingress/egress openings in enclosures must be properly sealed to preserve NEMA 4 rating. If cable openings are not sealed water-tight, the enclosure is no longer a NEMA 4 enclosure.

What should I do before starting the installation?
Read guide from beginning to end before beginning installation. Read all warnings and cautions before beginning unit installation. Check with your local building code official to identify and confirm compliance with local building code requirements. This installation guide covers installing your Model 1021 in a typical environment. The appropriate method for your installation may vary based on building design, application, and industry practices.
What is the warning regarding tool usage?
Follow manufacturer’s instructions for hand or power tools. Always use safety glasses. Failure to do so may result in injury and/or product damage.
What is the warning for working at heights?
Use caution when working at elevated heights. Follow manufacturer’s instructions for ladders and/or scaffolding. Failure to do so may result in injury or death.
How do I install the Universal Mounting Bracket?
The Universal Mounting Bracket is required to mount both the antenna mounting bracket and the AP mounting hardware.
To install the universal mounting bracket, fasten it to the enclosure using the four (4) provided M4 x 8 mm Pan Head Screws. Use the provided #6 x 5/16″ screws to mount the T-Bar, the Cisco Air-Bracket, or to directly mount other APs to the mounting bracket.
How do I install the antenna and access point mounting brackets to the internal panel?
Install the antenna mounting bracket and access point mounting bracket, or included T-Bar Bracket, to the internal panel with the provided #6 x 3/8″ screws.
How do I mount the enclosure to a surface using the mounting feet?
Use (4) #10 x 2″ screws (not included) and suitable anchor hardware (not included) to fasten to the wall or surface.
Note: If the wall or surface to which the enclosure is attached is not completely smooth and flat, it is recommended that the cushioning washers be placed between the mounting tabs and the wall or surface. The cushioning washers will reduce flexing by the enclosure when tightened against an uneven surface, which can cause the seal between the lid and box to open. For installations that require cushioning washers, insert a cushioning washer between each of the wall mount brackets and the wall or surface.
Tighten the screws uniformly around the box so that it does not flex.
How can I mount the enclosure directly to a surface without the mounting feet?
The enclosure may also be directly mounted to a surface without the mounting feet. Drill 1/4″ holes through the box in four (4) corners. Use four (4) #10 x 2″ screws (not included) and suitable anchor hardware (not included) to fasten to the wall or ceiling.
For installations that require cushioning washers, insert a cushioning washer between the box and surface in each corner.
Tighten screws uniformly around the box so it does not flex. Properly seal any openings to maintain NEMA 4 rating.
How do I attach the antenna?
Attach the antenna with the provided #8 x 5/8″ screws for Cisco Antennas, or #6 x 1/2″ Screws for Aruba Networks and other antennas.
How do I install the Access Point and connect the cables?
Attach any cables to the Access Point. Then fasten to the installed AP mounting bracket or T-Bar Bracket. Some Access Points may need to be directly mounted to the internal panel by drilling pilot holes.
Connect the antenna to the Access Point.
How do I complete the final assembly of the enclosure?
Articulate the antenna for proper alignment and tighten the hex screws.
After the cables are attached, place the lid on the base then secure it with the eight (8) M4 x 20 mm pan head machine screws or tamper resistant Torx screws provided with the enclosure. The screws should be tightened to 8 in-lbs to properly seal the enclosure. Do not over tighten. Make sure the gasket is properly seated prior to tightening.
The installation is now complete.
