PDF Content Summary: DN-6091 September 3, 1997 • D-105 RA400Z & RA400ZA (Canada) Remote Annunciators Section: Annunciator Control Systems GENERAL The System Sensor RA400Z and RA400ZA (Canadian) Remote Annunciators are polarized devices designed for both conventional and intelligent applications. They have been designed using an active current regulator so that the maximum current required from the system is 7 mA when the input voltage is within the specified voltage range. SPECIFICATIONS Voltage range, CONVENTIONAL system: 3.1 to 32 VDC — DO NOT break tab. Voltage range, INTELLIGENT system: 18 to 32 VDC — Break tab (see caution note). DO NOT break tab when using RA400Z or RA400ZA with an intelligent four-wire duct detector (such as System Sensor’s DH500ACDC or NOTIFIER’s DHX-501). Current drain: 7 mA maximum. Temperature range: -10°C to 60°C (14°F to 140°F). PLEASE NOTE: For indoor applications only. INSTALLATION The RA400Z/RA400ZA is intended to be mounted to a single-gang electrical outlet box. The device must be op- erated within its published specifications. Wire the remote annunciator according to the instructions supplied with the device being monitored and in compliance with all codes. Polarity of the incoming wires must be observed and con- nected to the proper terminals “+” and “-” (see figure). The tab on the back of the remote annunciator must be broken off for use with most System Sensor intelligent sys- tems (see figure and caution under Specifications). After the tab is broken, the input voltage for the RA400Z and RA400ZA is limited to 18 volts minimum. See the following page for further information on the limi- tations of remote annunciators. This document is not intended to be used for installation purposes. We try to keep our product information up-to-date and accurate. The remote annuncia- tor gets its power from the device to which it is connected. If for any reason, the device being monitored loses power, the remote annunciator will not provide the intended vis- ible signal. The RA400Z is suitable for indoor applica- tions only. • The remote annunciator may not be seen. The model RA400Z is suitable for direct viewing and is in compliance with existing Underwriters’ Laboratories standards. The device must be sited in a location where it can be seen by the intended parties. The device must not be installed in direct sunlight, or areas of high light intensity where the visible signal might be disregarded or not seen. • This device is designed to work specifically with cer- tain NOTIFIER or System Sensor products. Intercon- nection with devices other than those specified may re- sult in unsatisfactory operation. Consult device manu- facturer for compatibility. • The remote annunciator is not intended to be a visible warning signal. Page 2 of 2 — DN-6091 • 09/03/97
