What installation precautions should be followed for the X-PRE?
Do not use the X-PRE near water.
Keep the X-PRE away from heat sources such as radiators.
Only use the mains adaptor provided. The use of other adaptors could seriously damage your X-PRE.
Place all connecting cables where they are not likely to be walked on or trapped by items placed on them.
Are there any user adjustments or parts that can be removed from the X-PRE?
Do not remove any covers, the X-PRE will not be covered under warranty if it has been tampered with. There are no adjustments within.
How do I connect components to the X-PRE?
All connections should be made before the mains adaptor is plugged in.
The X-PRE has four line-level inputs (labelled 1 to 4) suitable for use with all line level components (such as CD, Tuner, Tape machines etc.) and one set of line level outputs all situated on the back panel. All connections use RCA/Phono sockets.
Each of your line level sources should be connected to an input on the back of the X-PRE and then the X-PRE’s output connected to the input of your amplifier system.
For the best results it is recommended that you use Musical Fidelity X-LINX “No-Nonsense” interconnect cables for all connections.
What is the recommended startup procedure for the X-PRE after making connections?
Once all connections are made, turn the volume control to minimum and plug in the supplied mains adaptor. Allow a couple of minutes for the valves to warm up and then slowly advance the volume control and sit back and enjoy the music.
Can the X-PRE be left on continuously?
The X-PRE has been designed to be left on indefinitely.
