What are the main safety precautions for using the air conditioner?

WARNINGS:

• Do not use an intermediate connection of the power supply cord or an extension cord, and do not connect many devices to one AC outlet to prevent fire or electric shock.

• Remove dirt from the power supply plug and insert it securely into the outlet. Incomplete insertion may cause fire or electric shock.

• Do not scratch or process the power supply cord. Putting heavy objects on the cord or damaging it can lead to fire or electric shock.

• Do not turn the breaker on/off or connect/disconnect the power supply plug during operation. Always switch the unit off with the remote controller first.

• Do not expose your skin directly to cool air for a long time as this could damage your health.

• Do not insert your finger or any object into the air inlet/outlet, as the fan rotates at high speed and can cause injury.

• If an abnormality like a burning smell occurs, stop the air conditioner, disconnect the power supply plug, and/or turn off the breaker. Consult your dealer.

• Installation, repairs, or relocation should not be done by the customer. If done incorrectly, it may cause fire, electric shock, or injury. If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent.

CAUTIONS:

• When removing the air filter, do not touch the metal parts of the indoor unit to avoid injury.

• Do not use insecticides or flammable sprays on the unit.

• Do not place pets or houseplants in the path of direct airflow.

• Do not place other electric appliances or furniture under the indoor/outdoor unit, as dripping water may cause damage or malfunction.

• Do not operate the unit for a long time in high humidity (80% RH or more) with a door or window open, as condensed water may drop and damage furniture.

• Do not use the unit for special purposes, such as preserving food, animals, or art objects, as this may cause deterioration of quality.

• When cleaning the unit, switch it off and disconnect the power supply plug or turn off the breaker.

• Do not operate switches with wet hands to avoid electric shock.

The standard usable term is about 4 months. If the filter turns dark brown, replace it at once. The optional part number is MAC-1700FT.

What should I check if the air conditioner is not working correctly?

Before calling for service, check the following points:

The air conditioner cannot be operated: Is the breaker turned on? Is the ON timer set?

The room cannot be cooled or heated sufficiently: Is the temperature setting correct? Is the filter clean? Are there any obstacles blocking the air inlet or outlet? Is a window or door open?

The air from the indoor unit smells strange: Is the filter clean? The unit may suck in odors from walls, carpets, furniture, etc., and blow them out.

Remote controller display is dim or unit does not respond: Are the batteries exhausted? Is the polarity (+, -) of the batteries correct? Are buttons on another remote being pressed?

After a power failure: The unit should restart automatically if it was on before the failure, due to the auto restart function.

If the problem persists after checking these items, stop using the air conditioner and consult your dealer.

Are these normal operating sounds and behaviors?

The following are generally not malfunctions:

Unit won’t operate for ~3 minutes after restart: This is a protective feature from the microprocessor. Please wait.

Cracking sound: Caused by the expansion/contraction of the front panel due to temperature changes.

Fan stops during DRY operation: The compressor and fan stop periodically to prevent condensed water from re-evaporating.

Sound of flowing water or burbling: This is the sound of refrigerant flowing inside the unit, condensed water in the heat exchanger, or air being drawn through the drain hose.

Mist from the air outlet: Cool air from the unit rapidly cools moisture in the room’s air, turning it into mist.

Mechanical sound: This is the switching sound of the fan or compressor turning on/off.

Airflow direction changes automatically: In COOL/DRY mode, if air blows down for an hour, it automatically moves to horizontal to prevent condensation from dripping. In HEAT mode, it may become horizontal if the air temperature is too low.

Water leaks from the outdoor unit: This is condensation during COOL/DRY mode or from the defrosting operation in HEAT mode.

White smoke from the outdoor unit: This is vapor generated by the defrosting operation in heating mode.

Air doesn’t blow out immediately in heating: The unit is preparing to blow out warm air; please wait.

Operation stops for ~10 minutes during heating: The unit is performing a defrost cycle. Please wait.

Hissing sound: This is the sound of the refrigerant flow being switched inside the unit.

When should I stop using the unit and call for service?

In the following cases, stop using the air conditioner and consult your dealer:

• When water leaks or drops from the indoor unit.

• When the left operation indicator lamp blinks.

• When the breaker trips frequently.

• The remote control signal may not be received in a room where an electronic ON/OFF type fluorescent lamp (inverter-type, etc.) is used.
