The LCD display of the MIDLAND GXT67 PRO uses various icons to indicate the radio’s status:

1. NOAA Weather (WX) ICON: Indicates when the radio is in weather band mode and alert readiness status.

2. CHANNEL NUMBER: Indicates GMRS or repeater channel number (1-99) or NOAA WX channel number (1-10).

3. REPEATER ICON: Indicates when the current channel is a repeater channel.

4. BATTERY METER: Indicates battery level and battery-low status.

5. SCAN ICON: Indicates when GMRS, Dual Watch Pro, or weather channel scanning modes are active.

6. DUAL WATCH ICON: Indicates primary or active channel during Dual Watch Pro scanning.

The external controls and components of the MIDLAND GXT67 PRO include:

1. POWER / VOLUME KNOB: Rotate clockwise to turn power on and increase volume; counterclockwise to decrease volume and turn power off.

2. ANTENNA: Signal reception and transmission.

3. SPEAKER: Built-in audio output.

4. PTT BUTTON: Press and hold to transmit voice; acts as a “back” button in menus.

5. EXTERNAL SPEAKER / MIC JACK: Accessory port protected with a waterproof/dustproof cover.

To install the belt clip:

Step 1. Slide the clip post down into the belt clip latch on the back of the radio until the lock tab clicks.

Step 2. Insert the clip post into the belt clip upside down until the locking tab clicks.

Step 3. Rotate the belt clip 180 degrees until the radio and clip both face upward and are securely in place.

To remove the belt clip:

Step 1. Rotate the radio 180 degrees until it is upside down.

Step 2. Gently move the radio up toward the top of the belt clip until it slides out.

Step 3. To remove the clip post, gently pull the lock tab away from the radio, then gently move the clip post toward the top of the radio.

The MIDLAND GXT67 PRO uses a rechargeable internal battery that can be charged via a desktop charger or vehicle power adapter. The desktop charger is compatible with standard PD and quick-charging USB-C wall adapters.

Using the Desktop Charger:

Step 1. Connect one USB-C cable connector to a compatible AC wall adapter.

Step 2. Connect the other USB-C cable connector to the desktop charger.

Step 3. Plug the AC wall adapter into an AC power outlet.

Step 4. Insert the radio into the charger. The LCD backlight will turn red to indicate charging.

Step 5. Remove the radio when the LCD backlight turns green, indicating a full charge.

Using the Vehicle Power Adapter:

Step 1. Plug the DC adapter into a vehicle power outlet.

Step 2. The LCD will turn red while the radio is properly placed and charging.

Step 3. The LCD will turn green when the battery is full.

The battery level meter shows estimated remaining capacity:

– 3 bars: Greater than 75% capacity.

– 2 bars: 50% to 74% capacity.

– 1 bar: 25% to 49% capacity.

– Shell only: Less than 25% capacity.

When the battery level is low, the battery shell icon will flash in the display, indicating the battery needs to be recharged.

To communicate, both radios must be set to the same channel and privacy code:

Step 1. For maximum clarity, hold the radio 2 to 3 inches from your mouth.

Step 2. Press and hold the PTT button and speak in a normal voice into the microphone. The TX / RX LED will turn red.

Step 3. Release the PTT button to receive. The TX / RX LED will turn green when receiving a transmission.

To enter Weather modes, press and hold the Menu / Weather button for 3 seconds from GMRS mode.

Weather Scan Mode: The radio scans and stops on the first usable signal. It will automatically rescan if the signal becomes weak. You can manually restart a scan by pressing the Up or Down buttons.

Manual Channel Selection: Use the Up or Down buttons while in weather mode to select a specific channel (1-10).

Weather Alert: To toggle the alert, advance through the weather menu to “WX Alert” and use the Up or Down buttons to select On or Off. When enabled, the radio will sound a notification tone and blink the weather icon rapidly upon receiving an alert, then switch to the weather channel display.

Weather Radio Frequency Chart:

*Note: Channels 8, 9, and 10 are designated Canadian Marine Frequencies.

Step 1. Briefly press the Scan / Monitor button to turn Scan on.

Step 2. The radio scans selected channels and stops briefly on an active channel. To join the conversation, press the PTT button.

Step 3. The radio returns to scanning after 5 seconds of inactivity. Press the Scan button again to turn it off.

To configure which channels are scanned:

1. Go to RADIO OPTIONS in the menu and select SCAN SELECT.

2. Choose “SCAN ALL” to include most channels or “SKIP ALL” to start with none.

3. Use the menu to manually select “SCAN” or “SKIP” for individual channels. At least 2 channels must be selected for scanning to function.

Group Mode allows you to alert specific groups of users. Radios must be on the same channel and use the same group code.

Setup Procedure:

1. Set the radio to a channel between 1 and 22.

2. Select GROUP MODE from the Top Menu and turn it ON.

3. Select a GROUP CODE (0-142).

4. Select a GROUP ID (1-10).

5. Set a 4-digit GROUP CALLER ID using the Up/Down buttons and the SCAN/MON button to advance digits.

6. Select a GROUP RING TONE (1-5).

Making a Group Call:

Step 1. While in Group Mode, press the CALL / LOCK button.

Step 2. Use Up / Down buttons to select a specific Group ID or “ALL” groups.

Step 3. Press CALL / LOCK again to send the alert.

The MIDLAND GXT67 PRO can access repeater networks on channels 15-22.

Step 1. Select REPEATER from the Top Menu and press MENU.

Step 2. Select “Enabled” to make repeater channels available for use.

Step 3. For each repeater channel (RPTR 15-22), you can configure separate receive (RX) and transmit (TX) privacy codes within the sub-menu.

Note: Repeaters are not compatible with Group Mode operation.

You can select from 3 power levels on channels 1-7, 15-33, 38-50, and repeater 15-22. Channels 8-14 and 34-37 are restricted to low power by FCC rules.

Step 1. Select Channel Options (CHAN OPTIONS) from the Top Menu.

Step 2. Select TX POWER and press MENU.

Step 3. Use the Up / Down arrows to select LOW, MEDIUM, or HIGH.

Step 4. Press MENU to save. Note: If the battery is low, the radio may automatically “fall back” to a lower power level.

Dual Watch Pro allows you to scan two specific channels for activity. This mode is not available while in Group Mode.

Step 1. Select DUAL WATCH PRO from the menu and set it to ON.

Step 2. Select the channel for Dual Watch ‘A’ (the primary channel).

Step 3. Select the channel for Dual Watch ‘B’.

Step 4. Press MENU to start scanning. You can swap the primary and secondary channels by pressing the Up or Down arrow while scanning. Scanning resumes after 5 seconds of inactivity.

You can return the radio to factory settings at any time:

Step 1. Switch the radio off.

Step 2. Press and hold the PTT and Menu/Weather buttons simultaneously while the radio is off.

Step 3. Switch the radio on and release the buttons when “RESET” appears on the display.

Troubleshooting Guide:

– No Power: Check the battery charge.

– Cannot Receive Messages: Confirm radios have the same channel frequency and privacy code settings; check if you are within range or if buildings are obstructing the signal.

– Radio Not Responding to Buttons: Check if the Key Lock is active.

– Display is Dim: This may occur in extreme temperatures; try recharging the battery or moving to a more temperate environment.

– Charger Not Functioning: Clean the contacts on the bottom of the radio; ensure the outlet is functioning properly.

*Channels 8-14 and 34-37 are low-power GMRS channels.

To ensure the longevity of your radio, follow these care instructions:

1. Use a soft damp cloth to clean the radio.

2. Do not use alcohol or cleaning solutions.

3. Do not immerse the radio in water.

4. Dry the radio with a dry lint-free cloth if it gets wet.

5. Ensure the accessory jack cover is tightened properly to maintain the IP67 waterproof and dustproof performance.
