• ICE MAKING Light:

– When this light is on, the unit is in the ice-making process.

– When it flashes, the unit is in the ice harvesting process.

• ICE FULL Light:

4. The “ICE MAKING” indicator light will turn on, and the compressor will begin to operate. First, water will flow into the water trough. When the water temperature drops to the set point, the ice-making process begins.

5. You can adjust the ice making time using the “+” and “-” buttons. The default time is “0”. A longer time results in thicker ice cubes.

6. The unit checks for sufficient water supply automatically. If water is insufficient, the “ADD WATER” light will turn on, and the unit will stop. After you supply water, the unit will restart automatically.

7. The first few batches of ice may be small and irregular. It is recommended to discard the ice produced in the first hour of operation.

Your new MAXX ICE MIM50-O may make sounds that are not familiar to you. Most of these new sounds are normal. Hard surfaces like the floor and walls can make the sounds seem louder than they actually are. The following describes the kinds of sounds that might be new to you and what may be making them:

• You will hear a swishing sound when the water valve opens to fill the water trough for each cycle.

• Rattling noises may come from the flow of the refrigerant or the water line. Items stored on top of the ice maker can also cause noises.

• The high-efficiency compressor may make a pulsating or high-pitched sound.

• Water running from the evaporator to the water trough may make a splashing sound.

• Water running from the water trough to the water tank may make a splashing sound.

• As each cycle ends, you may hear a gurgling sound due to the refrigerant flowing in your ice maker.

• You may hear air being forced over the condenser by the condenser fan.

• During the harvest cycle, you may hear the sound of ice cubes falling into the ice storage bin.

The MAXX ICE MIM50-O features an automatic cleaning function. It is recommended to clean your unit before first use and at regular intervals.

1. Press and hold the “TIMER/CLEAN” button for more than 5 seconds. The “CLEAN” light will turn on, indicating the start of the 20-minute cleaning program.

2. During this program, the water pump will operate for 8 minutes and then stop for 3 minutes, cycling through this process.

3. To stop the cleaning program forcefully, press and hold the “+” or “-” button for 5 seconds.

Exterior Cleaning:

The door and cabinet may be cleaned with a mild detergent and warm water. Do not use solvent-based or abrasive cleaners. Use a soft sponge and rinse with clean water. Wipe dry with a soft, clean towel to prevent water spotting.

Interior Cleaning (Ice Storage Bin):

1. Unplug the MAXX ICE MIM50-O.

2. Open the door and use a clean cloth to wipe down the interior with a sanitizing solution made of 1 tablespoon of household bleach or chlorine and 1 gallon of hot water.

3. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

4. The water from the cleaning process must be completely drained via the drain hose.

5. Plug the unit back in.

The ice scoop should be washed regularly. Wash it just like any other food utensil.

If the ice cubes are not forming properly and the holes in the water distributing pipe are blocked, you should clean it. Follow these steps:

1. Turn off the MAXX ICE MIM50-O and unplug it.

2. Remove the two screws on the water distributing pipe with a Phillips screwdriver.

3. Remove the water distributing pipe.

4. Using a small brush or a toothpick, clean out the holes in the pipe.

5. After cleaning, reinstall the water distributing pipe and secure it with the screws.

To clean the ice making system of your MAXX ICE MIM50-O, follow this procedure:

1. Mix a solution of Nu-Calgon Nickel-Safe Ice Machine Cleaner with water.

2. Turn off the unit and unplug the power cord. Keep the door open to let it air out.

3. Remove all the ice cubes from the storage bin.

4. Unscrew the drain pipe cap of the water trough and drain out all the water.

5. Pull out the water pipe connected to the water trough and add the Nickel-Safe Ice Maker cleaning solution into the water trough.

6. Plug in the power cord and press the “TIMER/CLEAN” button for more than 5 seconds to enter the cleaning program. The water pump will run to circulate the cleaning solution.

7. The cleaning process will take about 20 minutes. After cleaning, turn off the unit and unplug the power cord.

8. Drain out the cleaning solution from the water trough by unscrewing its drain pipe cap.

If the MAXX ICE MIM50-O will not be used for a long time, or is to be moved to another place, it will be necessary to drain the water system completely. Follow these steps for winterization:

1. Stop the ice-making procedure and disconnect the power supply.

2. Shut off the water supply at the main water source.

3. Disconnect the water supply hose from the water inlet valve.

4. Pull out the drain pipe of the water trough to drain the water from the trough.

5. Pull out the drain hose of the unit to drain the water from the ice storage bin.

6. Dry all interior surfaces with a soft cloth.

7. Leave the door open to allow for circulation and to prevent mold and mildew.

8. Reconnect the water supply hose and drain hoses only when the ice maker is to be used again.
