To avoid the possibility of child entrapment with your MARATHON MCF50W, please take the following precautions before disposing of the freezer:

• Remove the freezer lid completely from the freezer cabinet.

• Never allow children to operate, play with, or crawl inside the freezer.

Before connecting the MARATHON MCF50W freezer to an electrical power supply, let it stand upright for approximately 4 hours. This allows the refrigerant to settle in the compressor and reduces the possibility of malfunctions in the cooling system due to transportation. Please also wipe and clean the interior of the freezer thoroughly with a damp, non-abrasive cloth.

The MARATHON MCF50W includes the following parts:

1. Recessed handle

2. Removable freezer basket (1 basket)

3. Power “ON” Light

4. Thermostat/Temperature Setting

5. Defrost drain

6. Easy move rollers

For proper installation of your MARATHON MCF50W, follow these guidelines:

• Ensure adequate air circulation by keeping at least 4 inches of space on both sides and 36 inches at the top of the freezer. This allows for proper ventilation and easy access to the freezer baskets.

• If possible, position the spacers on the back of the product against a wall to avoid touching or catching warm parts like the compressor and condenser, which can prevent burns.

• Do not locate the appliance near radiators or cookers.

• Make sure the mains plug is accessible after installation.

• The appliance must be “grounded.” The power cord plug is provided with a “ground” for this purpose. If your power supply socket is not “grounded”, consult a certified electrician to connect the freezer to a separate “ground” in compliance with local and Federal regulations.

For hygienic reasons, the interior of your MARATHON MCF50W should be cleaned regularly. Before cleaning, switch the appliance off and remove the plug from the mains. Never clean the appliance with a steam cleaner.

• Do not allow ethereal oils and organic solvents (e.g., lemon juice, butyric acid) to contact the plastic parts.

• Do not use abrasive cleaners.

• Remove the food from the freezer and store it in a cool, well-covered place.

• Clean the appliance and its interior accessories with a cloth and lukewarm water. After cleaning, wipe with fresh water and rub dry.

Set the desired temperature on the Thermostat control knob of your MARATHON MCF50W as follows:

• Position MIN – Cold

• Position MID – Colder. This is the normal recommended setting.

• Position MAX – Coldest

When first starting up your MARATHON MCF50W or after it has been out of use, let the appliance run for at least 2 hours on the higher settings before putting food in the compartment.

• Ensure that frozen goods are quickly transferred to the freezer in the shortest possible time.

• Avoid opening the door frequently or leaving it open longer than necessary.

• Once defrosted, food should not be re-frozen.

• Do not exceed the recommended storage period indicated on the food package or by the manufacturer.

• Deep-frozen or frozen food can be thawed in the fridge compartment or at room temperature before use.

In the event of accidental defrosting of your MARATHON MCF50W, for example, if the power has been off for an extended period, ALL defrosted food should be consumed quickly or cooked immediately before being re-frozen.

Your MARATHON MCF50W requires periodic defrosting due to frost/ice buildup. Never use sharp metal tools to scrape off frost, as this could damage the evaporator. When the ice becomes thick, follow these steps to defrost your freezer:

1. Set the thermostat dial to “0” to defrost.

2. Remove all contents from the freezer compartment.

3. Unplug the unit. Remove the drain plug from the inside of the freezer.

4. To defrost faster, keep the freezer lid open. Defrosting usually takes a few hours.

5. Place a tray underneath the outer drain plug. Pull out the drain dial and rotate it 180 degrees to allow water to flow out of the freezer and into the tray. Monitor the tray to avoid overflowing.

6. When defrosting is complete, push the drain dial back in. Replug the drain plug inside the freezer compartment.

7. Wipe the interior of the freezer and replace the electrical plug in the electrical outlet.

8. Reset the temperature control to the desired setting.

If your MARATHON MCF50W is not working, check the following possible causes and solutions:

• **Possible Cause:** The plug is not plugged in or is loose.

**Solution:** Re-insert the power cord.

• **Possible Cause:** A fuse has blown or is defective.

**Solution:** Check the fuse and replace it if necessary.

Unusual noises from your MARATHON MCF50W could be due to the following:
