What safety information should I know about the product?

To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the cover (or back). There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.

Do not install this equipment in a confined space such as a book case or similar unit.

The apparatus should not be exposed to water (dripping or splashing) and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the apparatus.

What precautions should I take regarding the power cord?

The Power Plug is the disconnecting device. In case of an emergency, the Power Plug must remain readily accessible.

Do not overload wall outlets. Overloaded wall outlets, loose or damaged wall outlets, extension cords, frayed power cords, or damaged or cracked wire insulation are dangerous. Any of these conditions could result in electric shock or fire. Periodically examine the cord of your device, and if its appearance indicates damage or deterioration, unplug it, discontinue use of the device, and have the cord replaced with an exact replacement part by an authorized service center.

Protect the power cord from physical or mechanical abuse, such as being twisted, kinked, pinched, closed in a door, or walked upon. Pay particular attention to plugs, wall outlets, and the point where the cord exits the device.

Only use the AC adapter supplied with this device. Do not use a power supply from another device or another manufacturer. Using any other power cable or power supply can cause damage to the device and void your warranty.


How do I replace the battery in the remote control?

Remove the battery cover on the rear of the remote control, and insert the battery with + and – matched correctly.


How do I turn the unit ON or OFF?

Press the Standby button on the remote control to switch the unit ON or OFF.


How do I turn Network Standby On or Off?

To turn on Network Standby function, press the Standby button. To turn off Network Standby function, press the Standby button for about 3 seconds.


How do I adjust the speaker volume?

Press VOL +/– on the remote control to adjust speaker volume.


How do I skip to the next or previous file?

Press K or D to go to the next or previous file.


How do I play or pause playback?

Press D| on the remote control to start or pause playback.


How do I use the Bluetooth connection lock?

How do I select a sound effect mode?

Select a sound effect mode by using SOUND EFFECT. The available sound effects are:

ASC (Adaptive Sound Control) Analyzes the property of the input sound and provides the sound optimized for the content in real time.
BASS BLAST or BASS BLAST+ Reinforces the bass and powerful sound.
STANDARD You can enjoy optimized sound.

How do I enable or disable TV remote control for the unit’s volume?

To turn on or off the TV Remote function, press and hold SOUND EFFECT for about 3 seconds and press it again. To check the status of this function, press and hold SOUND EFFECT.

Supported TV brands include LG, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Toshiba, and Vizio.


How do I adjust the sound level of each speaker?

Select the speaker you want to adjust by using Sound tuning button and adjust the sound level by using VOL +/–. Adjusting rear speakers level is applied only when the rear speakers are connected.

How do I turn on or off surround sound?

To turn on or off the surround sound, press and hold the Sound tuning button for about 3 seconds and press it again.

When you turn on the surround function, the whole speaker outputs sound. When you turn off the surround function, the speakers output sound as an original input sound channel.


How do I select a function and input source?

Select the function and input source by pressing F repeatedly. The display will show:

You can display various information of the input source by pressing the Information button. For OPT (Optical)/ARC/HDMI (HDMI IN), it shows the Audio format. For BT (Bluetooth), it shows the Connected Bluetooth device name. For USB, it shows file information contained on a USB.


How do I enable or disable Auto Power ON/OFF?

To turn on or off AUTO POWER function, press and hold the Information button for about 3 seconds and press it again.


How do I enable or disable BT Standby?

To turn on or off BT Standby function, set the volume to a minimum in advance. Press and hold the Information button on the unit and the Information button on the remote control for about 3 seconds and then press the Information button again.


How do I select the repeat or random mode?

Press REPEAT repeatedly to select the desired repeat or random mode.


How do I search for a folder on a USB device?

Press FOLDER up or down arrow button on the remote control to search a folder on the USB device.


How do I install the additional foot on the sound bar?

1. Turn the unit upside down.

2. Peel off a sticker attached to the additional foot. Then place it on the existing foot of the unit.

3. Press the additional foot with adequate force to get it firmly fixed.


How do I mount the main unit on a wall?

1. Match the TV’s BOTTOM EDGE of Wall bracket install guide with the bottom of TV and attach to the position.

2. When you mount it on a wall (concrete), use the wall plugs. You should drill some holes. A guide sheet (Wall bracket install guide) is supplied to drill. Use the sheet to check the point to drill.

3. Remove the Wall bracket install guide.

4. Fix the brackets with screws (A) as shown in the illustration.

5. Put the unit on the brackets to match screw holes on the bottom of the unit.

6. Fix the unit with the screws firmly.


How do I organize cables?

1. Hold the cables together with cable ties as shown.

2. Tighten cable ties.


How do I connect the AC Adapter?

1. Connect the supplied AC power cord to the AC adapter.

2. Connect the AC adapter cable to DC IN adapter input.

3. Plug the AC power cord into an AC outlet.


How do I set up the wireless subwoofer for the first time?

1. Connect the power cord of the sound bar and the wireless subwoofer to the outlet.

2. Turn on the sound bar. The sound bar and the wireless subwoofer will be automatically connected. The Green LED on the rear of the wireless subwoofer turns on.


How do I manually pair the wireless subwoofer?

1. Press Pairing on the rear of the wireless subwoofer. The green LED on the rear of the wireless subwoofer blinks quickly. (If the green LED does not blink, press and hold the Pairing.)

2. Turn on the sound bar. Pairing is completed. The green LED on the rear of the wireless subwoofer turns on.


What do the LED indicators on the wireless subwoofer mean?

Red The wireless subwoofer is in standby mode or the connection is failed.
Off (No display) The power cord of wireless subwoofer is disconnected.

How do I connect the rear speakers (Sold Separately)?

1. Connect the black stripe wire to the terminal marked – (minus) and the other end to the terminal marked + (plus).

2. Connect the wireless receiver and the rear speakers (right, left) with the speaker cables.

How do I manually pair the wireless receiver?

1. Press PAIRING on the rear of the wireless receiver. The yellow – green LED on the wireless receiver blinks quickly.

2. Turn on the main unit. Paring is completed. The yellow – green LED on the wireless receiver turns on.


How do I affix the Ferrite Core for speaker cables?

1. Pull the stopper [a] of the ferrite core to open.

2. Wind the speaker cables around the ferrite core twice.

3. Close the ferrite core until it clicks.


How do I connect to my TV using an OPTICAL cable?

1. Connect the OPTICAL IN jack on the back of the unit to OPTICAL OUT jack on the TV using an OPTICAL cable.

2. Select the input source to OPT/HDMI ARC by pressing F repeatedly. You can see “OPT” on the display window if connecting normally between this unit and your TV.


How do I connect to my TV using LG Sound Sync (Wired)?

1. Connect your LG TV to the unit by using an optical cable.

2. Set up the sound output of TV to listen to the sound through this unit: TV setting menu → [Sound] → [TV Sound output] → [LG Sound Sync (Optical)]

3. Turn on the unit by pressing the Standby button.

4. Select the input source to OPT/HDMI ARC by pressing F repeatedly. You can see “LGOPT” on the display window if connecting normally between this unit and your TV.


How do I connect to my TV using LG Sound Sync (Wireless)?

1. Turn on the unit by pressing the Standby button.

2. Select the LG TV function by pressing F repeatedly.

3. Set up the sound output of TV to listen to the sound through this unit: TV setting menu → [Sound] → [TV Sound output] → [LG Sound Sync (Wireless)]

“PAIRED” appears on the display window for about 3 seconds and then you can see “LG TV” on the display window if connecting normally between this unit and your TV.


How do I connect to my TV using an HDMI cable for ARC?

1. Connect the (TV ARC) HDMI OUT jack on the back of the unit to ARC jack on the TV using an HDMI cable.

2. Select the input source to OPT/HDMI ARC by pressing F repeatedly. You can see “ARC” on the display window if connecting normally between this unit and your TV.


How do I connect optional equipment using HDMI?

1. Connect HDMI IN jack on the back of the unit to HDMI OUT jack on the audio device such as Blu-ray disc player, DVD player, etc.

2. Select the input source to HDMI by pressing F repeatedly.


How do I connect optional equipment using OPTICAL IN?

1. Connect the OPTICAL IN jack on the back of the unit to optical out jack of your external device.

2. Select the input source to OPT/HDMI ARC by pressing F repeatedly. You can see “OPT” on the display window if connecting normally between this unit and your device.


How do I connect and remove a USB device?

To connect: Connect the USB memory device to the USB port on the back of the unit. Select the USB function by pressing F repeatedly.

To remove: Choose a different function/mode. Remove the USB device from the unit.


What types of USB devices are compatible?

Compatible USB devices include MP3 Player (Flash type MP3 player) and USB Flash Drive (Devices that support USB 2.0).

The USB function of this unit does not support some USB devices, devices which require additional program installation connected to a computer, external HDDs, card readers, locked devices, hard type USB devices, USB hubs, USB extension cables, iPhone/iPod/iPad, or Android devices.


What are the requirements for playable files from a USB device?

Available File extensions: mp3, flac, aac, ogg, wav, wma.

Sampling frequency: within 32 to 48 kHz (mp3, wma), up to 192 kHz/24 bit (flac).

Bit rate: within 80 to 320 kbps (mp3), within 56 to 128 kbps (wma), within 64 to 500 kbps (ogg).

Maximum files: Up to 2,000.

Maximum directories: Up to 200.

A protected file by DRM (Digital rights management) cannot be played on the unit.

Video files in the USB storage device cannot be played.


How do I install the LG Wi-Fi Speaker App?

1. Tap the “App Store” icon or “Google Play” icon.

2. Type in “LG Wi-Fi Speaker” in the search bar and tap “Search”.

3. Select “LG Wi-Fi Speaker” in the search result list to download.


What are the requirements to use the LG Wi-Fi Speaker app?

A wireless router must be connected to the internet.

A smart device such as a smartphone or tablet must be connected to the wireless router via Wi-Fi connection.

The app will be available in version of the software as follows: Android OS: Ver 5.0 (or later), iOS: Ver 10 (or later).


What are the requirements for this unit to work with Google Assistant?

A Google Assistant built-in device (Sold Separately) is required.

This unit must be connected to the Internet.

This unit must be registered in the [Google Home] app.


How do I listen to music from a Bluetooth device?

1. Select the Bluetooth function by using F until “BT” and then “READY” appear in the display window.

2. Operate the Bluetooth device and perform the pairing operation. Your speaker appears as “LG SL7Y (XX:XX)”.

3. Select “LG SL7Y (XX:XX)”.

To play music on your Bluetooth device, refer to your Bluetooth device’s user guide.


How do I control a connected Bluetooth device?

You can control the connected Bluetooth device from the unit; play, pause, skip, volume.

This function is only available for Android OS and iOS.


How do I turn on or off the Bluetooth connection lock (BT LOCK)?

To turn on this function, press and hold D| on the remote control for about 3 seconds in BT (Bluetooth) function and press it once again while “OFF – BT LOCK” is scrolled. To turn off this function, press and hold D| on the remote control for about 3 seconds in BT (Bluetooth) function and press it once again while “ON – BT LOCK” is scrolled.


How do I play music from a USB device?

1. Connect the USB device to the USB port.

2. Select the USB function by pressing F repeatedly.

3. Use the playback controls on the remote control.

Pause During playback, press D| on the remote control.
Skip to the next/previous file During playback, press D to go to the next file. Playing less than 3 seconds, press K to go to the previous file. Playing after 3 seconds, press K to go to the beginning of the file.

How can I control the unit with my TV remote control?

You can control some functions of this unit (volume up/down and mute) by your TV remote control even by other company’s product.

To turn on this function, press and hold SOUND EFFECT on the remote control for about 3 seconds. “ON – TV REMOTE” appears and you can control this unit by your TV remote control. To turn off this function, press and hold SOUND EFFECT on the remote control and press it once again while “ON – TV REMOTE” is scrolled.


How do I use the AUTO POWER On/Off function?

This sound bar automatically turns on and off by an input source: Optical, LG TV, Bluetooth or “LG Wi-Fi Speaker” app.

To turn on this function, press and hold the Information button on the remote control for about 3 seconds and press it once again while “OFF – AUTO POWER” is scrolled. To turn off this function, press and hold the Information button on the remote control for about 3 seconds and press it once again while “ON – AUTO POWER” is scrolled.


How does the auto function change work?

This sound bar recognizes input signals such as Optical, HDMI ARC, Bluetooth, LG TV and “LG Wi-Fi Speaker” app and then changes suitable function automatically.

When you turn on your TV or an external device connected by optical, LG sound sync (optical or wireless) or HDMI ARC, this sound bar will change to a suitable function so you can listen to the sound through it.

When you try to connect your Bluetooth device to this unit, Bluetooth function is selected. Play your music on the Bluetooth device.

When you play music by “LG Wi-Fi Speaker” app on your smart device, this sound bar changes the function to WI-FI and you can listen to the music through it.


How do I place the unit in standby mode?

If network is disconnected and there is no music playback and no button operation for 15 minutes, the speaker switches to the standby mode. Then “GOOD-BYE” appears on the display window.

If you press and hold the Standby button for about 3 seconds, the speaker switches to the standby mode. Then “GOOD-BYE” appears on the display window. And all wireless network ports are deactivated.


How do I place the unit in network standby mode?

When network is connected but music is not played and buttons are not pressed for 15 minutes, the speaker switches to the network standby mode. Then “GOOD-BYE” appears on the display window.

If you press the Standby button, the speaker switches to the network standby mode. Then “GOOD-BYE” appears on the display window.


How do I enable Bluetooth standby mode?

If the Bluetooth standby mode is set to ON, the speaker switches Bluetooth standby mode when is turned off.

Adjust volume level of the unit to minimum. And then, press and hold the Information button on the unit and the Information button on the remote control for about 3 seconds. You can see “ON-BT STANDBY” and the unit switches Bluetooth standby mode.

To cancel this function, press the Information button on the remote control while “ON-BT STANDBY” is scrolled.


How do I reset the speaker?

If the speaker doesn’t respond, reset the speaker. Press and hold the Standby button on the unit until you hear the beep sound once. You can see “RESET” on the display window. Then all the stored wireless network information is deleted.


What should I do if the unit does not work properly?

Turn off the power of this unit and the connected external device (TV, Woofer, DVD-player, Amplifier, etc.) and turn them on again.

Disconnect the power cord of this unit and the connected external device (TV, Woofer, DVD-player, Amplifier, etc.) and then try connecting again.

Previous setting may not be saved when device power is shut off.


What should I do if the power does not turn on?

Check if the power cord is plugged into the outlet. Connect the power plug to the outlet.


What should I do if no sound is produced?

Adjust the volume. If using connection with an external device (set top box, Bluetooth device etc.), adjust volume level of the device.

Check if the mute function is activated. Press the Mute button or adjust the volume level to cancel the mute function.

Check if the function is selected properly. Check the input source and select the correct input source.

Check if the remote control is too far from the unit. Operate the remote control within about 7 m (23 ft).

Check if there is an obstacle in the path of the remote control and the unit. Remove the obstacle.

Check if the batteries in the remote control are exhausted. Replace the batteries with new ones.


What should I do if the AUTO POWER function does not work?

Check the connection of the external device such as TV, DVD/Blu-Ray player or Bluetooth device.

Check the state of SIMPLINK on your LG TV and turn off SIMPLINK.

Depending on the connected device, this function may not operate.


What should I do if LG Sound Sync does not work?

Check whether your LG TV supports LG Sound Sync.

Check the connection of LG Sound Sync.

Check the sound setting of your TV and this unit.


What should I do if the output sound of the unit is low?

Switch the state of DRC function to [OFF] by using “LG Wi-Fi Speaker”.

With the sound bar connected with TV, change the AUDIO DIGITAL OUT setting on TV Setup Menu from [PCM] to [AUTO] or [BITSTREAM].

With the sound bar connected with Player, change the AUDIO DIGITAL OUT setting on Player Setup Menu from [PCM] to [PRIMARY PASS-THROUGH] or [BITSTREAM].

Change Audio DRC setting on connected device setup menu to [OFF] state.

Make sure Night Time mode is not On. Turn [OFF] Night Time mode.


What should I do if Bluetooth pairing does not work well or the unit does not connect with a Bluetooth device?

Be sure your Bluetooth device is on.

Switch Bluetooth off and on again on your Bluetooth device, then try pairing again.

Remove the obstacle in the path of the Bluetooth device and the unit.

Depending on the type of the Bluetooth device or surrounding environment, your device may not be paired with the unit.

Turn off the Bluetooth connection lock function.


What should I do if I cannot connect the speaker to my home network?

The wireless communication may be interrupted from household devices that are using radio frequencies. Move the speaker away from them.

Check your router. Try turning it off and back on.

Check that the Wi-Fi feature is turned on in your smart device.

Check that the speaker and your smart device are connected to the same Wi-Fi.


What should I do if media servers are not displayed on the device list?

The firewall or anti-virus software on your media server is running. Turn off the firewall or anti-virus software running on your media server.

Make sure that the speaker is connected to the same network that your media server is connected.


What should I do if the Wi-Fi connection does not work well?

If you restart the router, you need to turn the speaker’s power off and on again.

If you install a new router, you need to perform a factory reset and set up the network connection for the speaker.


What should I do if the application doesn’t work properly?

Make sure that your smart device is compatible with the app.

Make sure that the application is the latest version.

Make sure that the connected unit turns on.


What should I do if the device has wireless interference or Bluetooth malfunction?

Wireless may not operate normally in a weak signal area. Please install the device close enough to the wireless subwoofer. Do not install the device on metal furniture for optimum performance.

Bluetooth device may malfunction or make noise if any part of your body contacts the transceiver of the Bluetooth device or sound bar, if there is an obstacle or wall or the device is installed in a secluded spot, or if there is a device (a wireless LAN, a medical equipment or a microwave) using the same frequency; make the distance between the products as far away from each other as possible. When connecting the device to the Bluetooth device, make the distance between the products as close as possible to each other. When the device gets too far from the Bluetooth device, the connection is disconnected and also malfunction may occur.


How do I release Demo mode?

If you cannot change the input source (BT, HDMI etc.) and only [DEMO] indication is showing in the front display, unplug the power cord and plug it in again. If that doesn’t work, press and hold F (About 5 seconds) on the main unit until the display indicates the current selected function. If the Remote Control does not work (No response), follow the same steps.


How should I handle the speaker when shipping it?

Please save the original shipping carton and packing materials. If you need to ship the speaker, for maximum protection, re-pack the speaker as it was originally packed at the factory.


How do I keep the exterior surfaces clean?

Do not use volatile liquids such as insecticide spray near the speaker.

Wiping with strong pressure may damage the surface.

Do not leave rubber or plastic products in contact with the speaker for a long period of time.


How do I clean the speaker?

To clean the player, use a soft, dry cloth. If the surfaces are extremely dirty, use a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol, benzine, or thinner, as these might damage the surface of the speaker.
