To assemble the stand for your LG 49LF5900, please follow these steps:

1. Place the TV screen-down on a soft, flat surface to protect the screen from scratches. The TV should be placed in its protective packaging or on a cushioned mat.

2. Align the two stand pieces with the mounting slots on the bottom of the television.

3. Insert the stands into the slots. Then, using the provided ‘b’ screws (M4 x L14), secure the stands to the television by inserting and tightening the four screws.

4. Carefully lift the television to an upright position and place it on a stable, flat surface.

The connection ports on the LG 49LF5900 are located in two main areas: on the side (Panel A) and on the rear (Panel B).

Follow these steps to install the batteries in your remote control:

1. Press on the back of the battery cover and slide it downwards to open.

2. Insert two 1.5V AAA batteries, making sure to match the positive (+) and negative (-) ends to the labels inside the compartment.

3. Slide the battery cover back into place until it clicks.

Caution: Do not mix old and new batteries, as this may damage the remote control.

The LG 49LF5900 qualifies for ENERGY STAR in its factory default (Home Configuration) setting. Changing the factory default settings or enabling other features may increase power consumption, which could exceed the limits necessary to qualify for ENERGY STAR.

To clean your TV, follow these procedures to maintain peak performance and extend the product’s lifespan.

Initial Steps:

• Make sure to turn the power off and disconnect the power cord and all other cables first.

Screen, Frame, Cabinet, and Stand Cleaning:

• To remove dust or light dirt, wipe the surface with a dry, clean, and soft cloth.

• To remove major dirt, wipe the surface with a soft cloth dampened in clean water or a diluted mild detergent. Then, wipe immediately with a dry cloth.

CAUTION:

• Do not push, rub, or hit the surface with your fingernail or a sharp object.

• Do not use any chemicals such as waxes, benzene, alcohol, thinners, insecticides, air fresheners, or lubricants.

• Do not spray liquid directly onto the TV’s surface.

Power Cord Cleaning:

• Remove the accumulated dust or dirt on the power cord regularly.

To prevent the TV from being scratched or damaged and for safe transportation, please read the following instructions:

• It is recommended to move the TV in the original box or packing material.

• Before moving or lifting, disconnect the power cord and all cables.

• When holding the TV, the screen should face away from you to avoid damage.

• Hold the top and bottom of the TV frame firmly. Do not hold the transparent part, speaker, or speaker grille area.

• Use at least two people to move a large TV.

• When transporting the TV by hand, hold it as shown in the manual’s illustrations.

• Do not expose the TV to jolts or excessive vibration during transport.

• Keep the TV upright; never turn it on its side or tilt it to the left or right.

• Be careful not to damage the protruding joystick button when handling the TV.

CAUTION:

• Avoid touching the screen at all times, as this may result in damage.

• Do not place the TV on the floor with its front facing down without padding.

If a fixed image is displayed on the TV screen for a long period, it can become imprinted and result in a permanent disfigurement known as image burn or burn-in. This is not covered by the warranty. To avoid this:

• If the TV’s aspect ratio is set to 4:3 for a long time, image burn may occur on the letterboxed areas of the screen.

• Avoid displaying a fixed image on the TV screen for a long period of time (2 or more hours for LCD) to prevent image burn.

For an optimal connection, it is recommended that HDMI cables and USB devices have bezels that meet the following specifications:

• Thickness (A): less than 10 mm (0.39 inches)

• Width (B): less than 18 mm (0.7 inches)

If a USB cable or USB flash drive does not fit into your TV’s USB port, use an extension cable that supports USB 2.0.

Additionally, it is recommended to use a certified cable with the HDMI logo attached. If you do not use a certified HDMI cable, the screen may not display or a connection error may occur. Recommended HDMI cable types are High-Speed HDMI cables (3 meters or less in length), with or without Ethernet.

You can operate your TV by pressing the joystick button or moving it left, right, up, or down. The joystick button is located on the television set.

Basic Functions:

• Power On: When the TV is off, place your finger on the joystick button, press it once, and release it.

• Power Off: When the TV is on, place your finger on the joystick button, press it once for a few seconds, and release it. All running apps will close.

• Volume Control: Place your finger on the joystick button and move it left or right to adjust the volume level.

• Channels Control: Place your finger on the joystick button and move it up or down to adjust the channel.

Adjusting the Menu:

When the TV is on, press the joystick button one time. You can then adjust the menu items by moving the joystick button up, down, left, or right.

• Power Off icon: Turns the power off.

• Settings icon: Accesses the quick settings.

• X icon: Clears on-screen displays and returns to TV viewing.

• Input icon: Changes the input source.

Note: Be careful not to press the joystick button when you intend to move it up, down, left, or right. If you press it first, you may not be able to adjust volume or scroll through channels.

When mounting your LG 49LF5900 on a table, lift and tilt the TV into its upright position. For proper ventilation, ensure you leave a minimum of 10 cm (4 inches) of space between the TV and the wall on all sides (top, bottom, left, and right). After positioning the TV, connect the power cord to a wall outlet. Do not place the TV near or on sources of heat, as this may result in fire or other damage.

To secure your TV to a wall, follow these steps:

1. Insert and tighten the eye-bolts (or TV brackets and bolts) on the back of the TV. If there are already bolts in the eye-bolt positions, remove them first.

2. Mount the wall brackets with bolts to the wall. The location of the wall bracket should align with the eye-bolts on the rear of the TV.

3. Connect the eye-bolts and wall brackets tightly with a sturdy rope or cable. Make sure to keep the rope parallel to the flat surface.

Note:

• Ensure children do not climb on or hang on the TV.

• Use a platform or cabinet that is strong and large enough to support the TV securely.

• Brackets, bolts, and ropes are optional and can be obtained from your local dealer.

The wall mount specifications for the LG 49LF5900 meet the VESA standard. Please use screws and wall mounts that conform to these specifications.

CAUTION:

• Disconnect the power before moving or installing the TV.

• If you install the TV on a ceiling or slanted wall, it may fall. Use an authorized LG wall mount.

• Do not overtighten the screws, as this may cause damage to the TV and void your warranty.

• Use screws and wall mounts that meet the VESA standard. Damages or injuries from misuse or improper accessories are not covered by the warranty.

To watch TV, connect an antenna, cable, or cable box to the ANTENNA/CABLE IN port on the rear of the television. Make sure not to bend the copper wire of the RF cable during connection. Complete all connections between devices before connecting the power cord to the power outlet to prevent damage to your TV. If you need to connect to two or more TVs, use a signal splitter.

The descriptions are based on the buttons on the remote control. This remote uses infrared light and should be pointed at the TV’s remote sensor.

• POWER: Turns the TV on or off.

• INPUT: Changes the input source.

• CAPTION: Activates or deactivates subtitles.

• User Guide: Accesses the user guide.

• RATIO: Resizes an image.

• TV: Returns to the last TV channel.

• Number button: Enters numbers.

• – (Dash): Inserts a dash between numbers (e.g., 2-1).

• LIST: Accesses the saved channel list.

• FLASHBK: Alternates between the two last selected channels.

• + VOL -: Adjusts the volume level.

• FAV: Accesses your favorite channel list.

• INFO: Shows information on the current program.

• MUTE: Mutes all sounds.

• CH (up/down arrow): Scrolls through the saved channels.

• PAGE (up/down arrow): Moves to the previous or next screen.

• RECENT: Shows the previous history.

• SAP/*: Enables Secondary Audio Program (SAP).

• Control buttons (play, pause, etc.): Controls SIMPLINK compatible devices.

• Color buttons (Red, Green, Yellow, Blue): Access special functions in some menus.

If your TV includes a Magic Remote, you must first pair it with your TV.

How to register the Magic Remote:

1. Put batteries into the Magic Remote and turn the TV on.

2. Point the Magic Remote at your TV and press the Wheel (OK) button on the remote control.

If the TV fails to register the Magic Remote, try again after turning the TV off and back on.

How to deregister the Magic Remote:

Press the BACK and Home buttons at the same time for five seconds to unpair the Magic Remote with your TV. Pressing and holding the EXIT button will let you cancel and re-register the Magic Remote at once.

• To make the pointer appear on the screen, shake the Magic Remote slightly to the right and left, or press the Home, INPUT, or 3D buttons.

• If the pointer has not been used for a certain period or is placed on a flat surface, it will disappear.

• If the pointer does not move as you wish, shake the Magic Remote to the left and right to move the pointer to the center of the screen.

• The Magic Remote depletes batteries faster than a normal remote due to its additional features.

Precautions to Take:

• Use the remote control within 10 m (32.8 ft) of the TV.

• Communication failures may occur depending on accessories. Devices like microwave ovens and wireless LANs operate in the same frequency band (2.4 GHz) and can cause interference.

• The Magic Remote may not work properly if a wireless router (AP) is within 1 m (3.28 ft) of the TV. The router should be more than 1 m away.

• Do not disassemble, heat, or drop the battery. Avoid extreme shocks.
