• PCMCIA Card Slot: For CI Modules.

• There may be noise associated with the resolution, vertical pattern, contrast, or brightness. If noise is present, try changing the PC output to another resolution, changing the refresh rate, or adjusting the brightness and contrast on the TV’s PICTURE menu until the picture is clear.

• Depending on the graphics card, some resolution settings may not work properly.

Displaying a still image for a prolonged time can cause damage to the screen, resulting in image sticking (also known as burn-in). This can happen with content like broadcasting channel logos, on-screen menus, or scenes from a video game.

To prevent this:

• Avoid displaying a fixed image on your television’s screen for a prolonged period (2 or more hours for LCD TVs).

• If you watch the TV at a ratio of 4:3 for a long time, image sticking may occur on the borders of the panel.

The product warranty does not cover image sticking.

The sounds you may hear are normal and do not affect the performance or reliability of your LG 49LB550U-ZA.

• “Cracking” noise: A cracking noise that occurs when watching or turning off the TV is generated by plastic thermal contraction due to temperature and humidity. This noise is common for products where thermal deformation is required.

• Electrical circuit humming/panel buzzing: A low-level noise is generated from a high-speed switching circuit, which supplies a large amount of current to operate the product. It varies depending on the product.

• Your TV’s OSD (On Screen Display) may differ slightly from that shown in the manual.

• Available menus and options may differ from the input source or product model you are using.

• For an optimal connection, HDMI cables and USB devices should have bezels less than 10 mm thick and 18 mm wide. Use an extension cable that supports USB 2.0 if the USB cable or USB memory stick does not fit into your TV’s USB port.

The Joystick button is located below the TV screen and allows you to operate basic TV functions by pressing or moving it up, down, left, or right.

Basic Functions:

• Power On: When the TV is off, place your finger on the joystick button and press it once and release it.

• Power Off: When the TV is on, place your finger on the joystick button and press it once for a few seconds and release it. (If the Menu is on screen, this action will exit the menu instead).

• Volume Control: Place your finger over the joystick button and move it left or right to adjust the volume.

• Programmes Control: Place your finger over the joystick button and move it up or down to scroll through the saved programmes.

Note: When moving the joystick up, down, left, or right, be careful not to press it. If you press it first, you will not be able to adjust the volume or programmes.

Adjusting the Menu:

When the TV is on, press the joystick button one time. You can then adjust Menu items by moving the joystick up, down, left, or right.

To prevent your LG 49LB550U-ZA from being scratched or damaged and for safe transportation, please follow this advice:

• Avoid touching the screen at all times, as this may result in damage.

• It is recommended to move the TV in the box or packing material that it originally came in.

• Before moving or lifting the TV, disconnect the power cord and all cables.

• When holding the TV, the screen should face away from you to avoid damage.

• Hold the top and bottom of the TV frame firmly. Do not hold the transparent part, speaker, or speaker grill area.

• When transporting a large TV, there should be at least 2 people.

• When transporting the TV, do not expose it to jolts or excessive vibration.

• Keep the TV upright; never turn the TV on its side or tilt it towards the left or right.

• Do not apply excessive pressure that could cause flexing or bending of the frame chassis, as it may damage the screen.

2. Leave a 10 cm (minimum) space from the wall for proper ventilation.

3. Connect the power cord to a wall outlet.

As a safety precaution, do not place the TV near or on sources of heat, as this may result in fire or other damage.

This feature may not be available for all models. To secure the TV to a wall:

1. Insert and tighten the eye-bolts, or TV brackets and bolts on the back of the TV. If there are already bolts in the eye-bolt position, remove them first.

2. Mount the wall brackets with the bolts to the wall. Match the location of the wall bracket and the eye-bolts on the rear of the TV.

3. Connect the eye-bolts and wall brackets tightly with a sturdy rope. Make sure to keep the rope horizontal with the flat surface.

Note:

• Use a platform or cabinet that is strong and large enough to support the TV securely.

• Brackets, bolts, and ropes are not provided. You can obtain additional accessories from your local dealer.

• Make sure that children do not climb on or hang on the TV.

LG recommends that wall mounting be performed by a qualified professional installer. Attach an optional wall mount bracket to the rear of the TV carefully and install it on a solid wall perpendicular to the floor.

Make sure to use screws and a wall mount bracket that meet the VESA standard. Standard dimensions for the wall mount kits for the 49LB55** model are:

CAUTION:

• Disconnect the power first, and then move or install the TV. Otherwise, electric shock may occur.

• Use an authorized LG wall mount and contact the local dealer or qualified personnel.

• Do not over-tighten the screws as this may cause damage to the TV and void your warranty.

• The length of screws may differ depending on the wall mount. Make sure to use the proper length.

For the LG 49LB550U-ZA (LB55** models), ensure you point the remote control toward the remote control sensor on the TV.

• POWER: Turns the TV on or off.

• TV/RAD: Selects Radio, TV, and DTV programme.

To automatically tune the programmes, navigate to SETTINGS → SETUP → Auto Tuning. This function will find and store programmes that are currently broadcasting. Note that if the Input Source is not connected properly, programme registration may not work. If the Lock System is turned on, a pop-up window will appear asking for a password.

To select a picture mode optimized for your viewing environment, navigate to SETTINGS → PICTURE → Picture Mode.

• Vivid: Heightens contrast, brightness, and sharpness to display vivid images.

• Standard: Displays images in standard levels of contrast, brightness, and sharpness.

• Eco/APS: The Energy Saver feature changes settings on the TV to reduce power consumption.

• Cinema/Game: Displays the optimum picture for movies or games.

• Sports: Optimizes the video image for high and dynamic actions by emphasizing primary colours such as white, grass, or sky blue.

• Expert 1, 2: A menu for adjusting picture quality that allows experts and amateurs to enjoy the best TV viewing. This is the adjustment menu provided for ISF-certified picture tuning professionals.

The available range of picture modes may differ depending on the input signal.

You can choose where the sound is output from by navigating to SETTINGS → AUDIO → Sound Out.

• TV Speaker: Sound is output through the TV’s internal speakers.

• External Speaker (Optical): Sound is output through the speaker connected to the optical port. SimpLink is supported.

• LG Sound Sync (Optical): Connect an LG audio device with the Sound Sync logo to the optical digital audio output port for rich, powerful sound.

• Headphone: Sound is output through the headphone port.

When using the External Speaker (Optical) output, you can further configure the digital sound format by going to SETTINGS → AUDIO → Sound Out → External Speaker (Optical) → Digital Sound Out. The table below shows the output format based on the audio input:

SIMPLINK is a feature that enables you to control and manage various multimedia devices conveniently via the SIMPLINK menu using your TV remote. This function is only compatible with devices with the SIMPLINK logo.

Setup Steps:

1. Connect the TV’s HDMI IN terminal and the SIMPLINK device’s HDMI output terminal using a high-speed HDMI® cable (with CEC feature added).

2. Select INPUT(OPTION) → SIMPLINK. The SIMPLINK menu window will appear.

3. In the SIMPLINK Setting window, set the SIMPLINK function to ON.

4. In the SIMPLINK menu window, select the device you want to control.

SIMPLINK Functions:

• Direct Play: Plays the multimedia device on the TV instantly.

• Select multimedia device: Selects the desired device via the SIMPLINK menu to control it from the TV screen instantly.

• Disc playback: Manages the multimedia device with the TV remote control.

• Power off all devices: When you power off the TV, all connected devices are turned off.

• Sync Power on: When the equipment with SIMPLINK function connected to an HDMI terminal starts to play, the TV will automatically turn on.

• Speaker: Select speaker either on the home theatre unit or the TV.

To perform a factory reset, navigate to SETTINGS → OPTION → Factory Reset.

This will delete all stored information and reset all TV settings. The TV will turn itself off and back on with all settings reset. Do not turn off the power during this initialization process. If the Lock System is in place, a pop-up window will appear and ask for the password.

• If the USB storage device has a built-in auto recognition program or uses its own driver, it may not work.

• Some USB storage devices may not work or may work incorrectly.

• Use only USB storage devices formatted with the Windows FAT32 or NTFS File System.

• For external USB HDDs, it is recommended that you use devices with a rated voltage of less than 5 V and a rated current of less than 500 mA.

• It is recommended that you use USB memory sticks of 32 GB or less and USB HDDs of 1 TB or less.

• If a USB HDD with a power-saving function does not work properly, turn the power off and on. For more information, refer to the user manual of the USB HDD.

• Data in the USB storage device can be damaged, so be sure to back up important files to other devices. Data maintenance is the user’s responsibility.

To remove a USB device, go to Q.MENU → USB Device and select the device you want to remove. When you see the message that the device has been removed, you can safely separate it from the TV.
