Before attaching the stand, place the screen facing down on a cushioned table or flat surface to protect it from scratches.

The LG 42LB550U-ZA TV may come with one of two stand types. Follow the instructions for your specific stand:

Stand Type 1 (Only LB55**, LB56**-ZE / ZC, LB62**-ZA / ZB models):

1. Attach the A Stand Base to the main body of the TV.

2. Attach the B Stand Base to the A Stand Base.

3. Secure the stand using the provided screws. For 32-inch models, use four M4 x L20 screws. For other models in this group, use four M4 x L14 screws.

Stand Type 2 (Only LB56**-ZT / ZQ, LB62**-ZE models):

1. Attach the A Stand Base to the main body of the TV.

2. Attach the B Stand Base to the A Stand Base.

3. Secure the stand using the provided screws. For 32-inch models, use four M4 x L20 screws. For other models in this group, use four M4 x L14 screws.

To watch broadcast television, connect your LG 42LB550U-ZA to a wall antenna socket using an RF cable (75 Ω).

Notes:

• To use more than two TVs with one antenna, you will need a signal splitter.

• If the image quality is poor, you may need to install a signal amplifier to improve it.

• If the image quality is poor with an antenna connected, try realigning the antenna in the correct direction.

• An antenna cable and converter are not supplied with the TV.

• Supported DTV Audio formats are: MPEG, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, HE-AAC.

The Joystick button is located below the TV screen and can be used to operate basic TV functions by pressing or moving it up, down, left, or right.

Basic Functions:

• Power On: When the TV is off, place your finger on the joystick button, press it once, and release it.

• Power Off: When the TV is on, press and hold the joystick button for a few seconds and release it. (If the Menu is on screen, this action will exit the menu instead).

• Volume Control: Move the joystick left or right to adjust the volume.

• Programmes Control: Move the joystick up or down to scroll through saved programmes.

Note: Be careful not to press the joystick button when you intend to move it up, down, left, or right. If you press it first, you cannot adjust the volume or scroll through programmes.

Adjusting the Menu:

When the TV is on, press the joystick button once to bring up the menu. You can then adjust menu items by moving the joystick.

• TV off: Turns the power off.

• Settings: Accesses the main menu.

• Close: Clears on-screen displays and returns to TV viewing.

• Input List: Changes the input source.

Ensure you point the remote control toward the remote control sensor on the TV. Here are the functions of the buttons on the remote for your LG 42LB550U-ZA:

To automatically tune the programmes on your LG 42LB550U-ZA, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to SETTINGS → SETUP → Auto Tuning.

2. The TV will automatically tune and save available programmes.

Notes:

• If the Input Source is not connected properly, programme registration may not work.

• Auto Tuning only finds programmes that are currently broadcasting.

• If the Lock System is turned on, a pop-up window will appear asking for the password.

Your LG 42LB550U-ZA offers several ways to adjust the picture to your liking.

Using Picture Wizard:

Navigate to SETTINGS → PICTURE → Picture Wizard III. This feature calibrates and adjusts for optimum picture quality using the remote control without expensive pattern devices.

Selecting a Picture Mode:

Go to SETTINGS → PICTURE → Picture Mode to select a preset mode optimized for your viewing environment.

• Vivid: Heightens contrast, brightness, and sharpness for vivid images.

• Standard: Displays images in standard levels of contrast, brightness, and sharpness.

• Eco/APS: The Energy Saver feature changes settings to reduce power consumption.

• Cinema/Game: Displays the optimum picture for movies or games.

• Sports: Optimizes the image for high and dynamic actions, emphasizing colours like white, grass, or sky blue.

• Expert 1, 2: A menu for adjusting picture quality that allows experts and amateurs to enjoy the best TV viewing. This is the adjustment menu provided for ISF-certified picture tuning professionals.

Advanced Picture Controls:

For more detailed adjustments, navigate to SETTINGS → PICTURE → Picture Mode → Advanced Control / Expert Control. Here you can fine-tune settings such as:

You can configure the audio output of your LG 42LB550U-ZA through the following settings:

• To use the TV speaker: Go to SETTINGS → AUDIO → Sound Out → TV Speaker. Sound will be output through the TV’s internal speakers.

• To use an External Speaker (Optical): Go to SETTINGS → AUDIO → Sound Out → External Speaker (Optical). Sound will be output through the speaker connected to the optical port. SimpLink is supported.

• To use an LG audio device (Sound Sync): Go to SETTINGS → AUDIO → Sound Out → LG Sound Sync (Optical). Connect an LG audio device with the Sound Sync logo to the optical digital audio output port for rich, powerful sound.

• To use Headphones: Go to SETTINGS → AUDIO → Sound Out → Headphone. Sound will be output through the headphone/earphone port.

• To synchronize audio and video: Go to SETTINGS → AUDIO → AV Sync. Adjust. If video and audio do not match, turn this setting to ON and adjust the sound output (TV speakers or SPDIF) to match the screen image.

To reduce power consumption by adjusting screen brightness, go to SETTINGS → PICTURE → Energy Saving.

• Auto: The TV sensor detects the ambient lighting and automatically adjusts the screen brightness.

• Off: Turns off the Energy Saving mode.

• Minimum / Medium / Maximum: Applies the pre-set Energy Saving mode.

• Screen Off: The screen is turned off and only sound is played. Press any button (except the Power button) on the remote control to turn the screen back on.

Connecting and Removing a USB device:

To safely remove a USB device, go to Q.MENU → USB Device and select the device you want to remove. When you see the message that the USB device has been removed, you can separate it from the TV.

Warnings and Recommendations:

• Use only USB storage devices formatted with the Windows FAT32 or NTFS File System.

• For external USB HDDs, it is recommended to use devices with a rated voltage of less than 5 V and a rated current of less than 500 mA.

• It is recommended to use USB memory sticks of 32 GB or less and USB HDDs of 1 TB or less.

• If a USB HDD with a power-saving function does not work properly, turn its power off and on.

• Data on the USB storage device can be damaged, so be sure to back up important files. Data maintenance is the user’s responsibility.

• For an optimal connection, HDMI cables and USB devices should have bezels less than 10 mm thick and 18 mm wide. Use an extension cable that supports USB 2.0 if the USB cable or memory stick does not fit into your TV’s USB port.

The LG 42LB550U-ZA supports various file formats for playback via USB. The maximum data transfer rate is 20 Mbps.

Supported Audio Formats:

• mp3: 32 Kbps – 320 Kbps Bit rate, 16 kHz – 48 kHz Sample freq.

• AAC: Free Format Bit rate, 8 kHz ~ 48 kHz Sample freq.

• M4A: Free Format Bit rate, 8 kHz ~ 48 kHz Sample freq.

• WMA: 128 Kbps – 320 Kbps Bit rate, 8 kHz ~ 48 kHz Sample freq. (WMA7, WMA8, WMA9 Standard)

• OGG: Free Format Bit rate, 8kHz ~ 48 kHz Sample freq.

Supported Photo Formats:

• JPEG (jpg, jpe): Baseline, Extend Sequential, Progressive types. Max size: 15360 (W) x 8640 (H) for Normal Type, 1920 (W) x 1440 (H) for Progressive Type.

• BMP: Max size: 9600 x 6400.

• PNG: Interlace and Non-Interlace types. Max size: 9600 x 6400 for Non-Interlace, 1200 x 800 for Interlace.

Supported Subtitle Formats:

• External: .srt (SubRip), .smi (SAMI), .sub (SubViewer, etc.), .ass/.ssa, .txt, .psb

• Internal: XSUB (from DivX6)

Set or Change Password:

Navigate to SETTINGS → LOCK → Set Password. This allows you to set or change the TV password. The initial password is set to ‘0000’.

Factory Reset:

To reset all settings and delete stored information, go to SETTINGS → OPTION → Factory Reset. The TV will turn itself off and back on, and all settings will be reset. If the Lock System is active, a pop-up window will appear asking for the password. Do not turn off the power during initialization.

To keep your TV in the best condition, clean it regularly.

1. Make sure to turn the power off and disconnect the power cord and all other cables first.

Screen, frame, cabinet and stand:

• To remove dust or light dirt, wipe the surface with a dry, clean, and soft cloth.

• To remove major dirt, wipe the surface with a soft cloth dampened in clean water or a diluted mild detergent. Then wipe immediately with a dry cloth.

CAUTION:

• Avoid touching the screen at all times, as this may result in damage.

• Do not push, rub, or hit the screen surface with your fingernail or a sharp object.

• Do not use any chemicals (glass cleaner, car/industrial shiner, abrasives, wax, benzene, alcohol etc.) as this may damage the product.

• Do not spray liquid directly onto the surface. If water enters the TV, it may result in fire, electric shock, or malfunction.

Power cord:

Remove the accumulated dust or dirt on the power cord regularly.

If there is no image display and no sound is produced, please check the following:

• Check if the product is turned on.

• Check if the power cord is connected to a wall outlet.

• Check if there is a problem in the wall outlet by connecting other products to it.

If your TV turns off suddenly, please check these settings:

• Check the power control settings. The power supply may have been interrupted.

• Check if the Automatic Standby / Sleep Timer / Off Time feature is activated in the TIME settings.

• If there is no signal while the TV is on, it will turn off automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity.

If you cannot control the TV with the remote, try these steps:

• Check the remote control sensor on the TV and try again.

• Check if there is any obstacle between the TV and the remote control.

• Check if the batteries are still working and are properly installed (positive to positive, negative to negative).

If you see a ‘No signal’ or ‘Invalid Format’ message when your PC is connected via HDMI, follow these steps:

1. Turn the TV off and then on again using the remote control.

2. Reconnect the HDMI cable.

3. Restart the PC while the TV is on.
