To attach the stand to your LG 42LB550B-ZA, please follow these steps. Note that the image shown in the manual may differ from your TV.

There are two types of stand assembly depending on your specific model series:

For models LB55**, LB56**-ZE / ZC, LB62**-ZA / ZB:

1. Lay the TV screen-down on a cushioned table or flat surface to protect the screen from scratches.

2. Attach the ‘A Stand Base’ to the TV.

3. Attach the ‘B Stand Base’ to the TV.

4. Secure the stand assembly using the provided screws. For model 32LB55** and similar sizes, use four M4 x L20 screws. For other sizes like 42/49LB55**, use four M4 x L14 screws.

For models LB56**-ZT / ZQ, LB62**-ZE:

1. Lay the TV screen-down on a cushioned table or flat surface.

2. Attach the ‘A Stand Base’ to the TV.

3. Attach the ‘B Stand Base’ to the TV.

4. Secure the stand pieces using the provided screws. For model 32LB56** and similar sizes, use four M4 x L20 screws. For other sizes, use four M4 x L14 screws.

CAUTION: When attaching the stand to the TV set, always place the screen facing down on a cushioned table or flat surface to protect the screen from scratches.

To connect your LG 42LB550B-ZA TV to a wall antenna socket, use an RF cable (75 Ω). The connection port is labeled ANTENNA/CABLE IN on the back of the TV.

Please note the following:

• If you want to use more than 2 TVs, use a signal splitter.

• If the image quality is poor, install a signal amplifier properly to improve the image quality.

• If the image quality is poor with the antenna connected, try to realign the antenna in the correct direction.

• An antenna cable and converter are not supplied with the TV.

• The supported DTV Audio formats are: MPEG, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, and HE-AAC.

To transmit video and audio signals from an external device to your LG 42LB550B-ZA, connect the external device and the TV set with a Euro Scart cable. The port is labeled AV1 on the TV.

Please note:

• Any Euro Scart cable used must be signal shielded.

• If you are watching digital TV on a 3D model, only 2D out signals can be output through the SCART cable.

The output signal type depends on the current input mode, as shown in the table below:

When connecting various external devices (like HD receivers, DVD players, VCRs, audio systems, USB storage devices, PCs, gaming devices) to your LG 42LB550B-ZA, please keep the following in mind:

• The external device connection may differ from the model diagrams.

• You can connect external devices to the TV regardless of the order of the TV ports.

• If you record a TV programme on a DVD recorder or VCR, ensure you connect the TV signal input cable to the TV through the DVD recorder or VCR.

• Refer to the external equipment’s manual for operating instructions.

• If you connect a gaming device, use the cable supplied with the gaming device.

• In PC mode, there may be noise associated with resolution, vertical pattern, contrast, or brightness. If noise is present, change the PC output to another resolution, change the refresh rate, or adjust the brightness and contrast on the PICTURE menu until the picture is clear.

• In PC mode, some resolution settings may not work properly depending on the graphics card.

To prevent your LG 42LB550B-ZA from being scratched or damaged and to ensure safe transportation, please follow this advice:

• Avoid touching the screen at all times, as this may result in damage.

• It is recommended to move the TV in the box or packing material that it originally came in.

• Before moving or lifting the TV, disconnect the power cord and all cables.

• When holding the TV, the screen should face away from you to avoid damage.

• Hold the top and bottom of the TV frame firmly. Do not hold the transparent part, speaker, or speaker grill area.

• When transporting a large TV, there should be at least 2 people.

• When transporting the TV by hand, hold it as shown in the manual’s illustration.

• Do not expose the TV to jolts or excessive vibration during transport.

• Keep the TV upright when transporting it; never turn it on its side or tilt it left or right.

• Do not apply excessive pressure that could cause the frame chassis to flex or bend, as this may damage the screen.

1. Lift and tilt the TV into its upright position on a table.

2. Leave a 10 cm (minimum) space from the wall for proper ventilation.

3. Connect the power cord to a wall outlet.

CAUTION: Do not place the TV near or on sources of heat, as this may result in fire or other damage.

To secure your LG 42LB550B-ZA to a wall (note: this feature is not available on all models):

1. Insert and tighten the eye-bolts, or TV brackets and bolts, on the back of the TV. If there are already bolts in the eye-bolt position, remove them first.

2. Mount the wall brackets with the bolts to the wall. Match the location of the wall bracket with the eye-bolts on the rear of the TV.

3. Connect the eye-bolts and wall brackets tightly with a sturdy rope. Make sure to keep the rope horizontal with the flat surface.

CAUTION: Make sure that children do not climb on or hang on the TV.

Note:

• Use a platform or cabinet that is strong and large enough to support the TV securely.

• Brackets, bolts, and ropes are not provided. You can obtain additional accessories from your local dealer.

LG recommends that wall mounting be performed by a qualified professional installer. Attach an optional wall mount bracket to the rear of the TV and install it on a solid wall perpendicular to the floor.

CAUTION:

• Disconnect the power first, and then move or install the TV. Otherwise, electric shock may occur.

• If you install the TV on a ceiling or slanted wall, it may fall and result in severe injury. Use an authorized LG wall mount.

• Do not over-tighten the screws, as this may cause damage to the TV and void your warranty.

• Use screws and wall mounts that meet the VESA standard. Any damages or injuries from misuse are not covered by the warranty.

Make sure to use screws and a wall mount bracket that meet the VESA standard. Standard dimensions for the wall mount kits are described in the following table:

For certain models (like 42LB55**, 42LB56**, 42LB62**), you may need to use the included Wall Mount Spacers.

You can operate your LG 42LB550B-ZA by pressing or moving the joystick button located below the TV screen.

• Power On: When the TV is turned off, place your finger on the joystick button and press it once and release it.

• Power Off: When the TV is turned on, place your finger on the joystick button and press it once for a few seconds and release it. (However, if the Menu button is on the screen, pressing and holding the joystick button will let you exit the Menu.)

• Volume Control: If you place your finger over the joystick button and move it left or right, you can adjust the volume level.

• Programmes Control: If you place your finger over the joystick button and move it up or down, you can scroll through the saved programmes.

Note: When you move your finger over the joystick button, be careful not to press it first. If you press the joystick button first, you cannot adjust the volume level and saved programmes.

When the TV is turned on, press the joystick button one time. You can then adjust the Menu items by moving the joystick button up, down, left, or right.

The available menu options are:

• TV off: Turns the power off.

• Settings: Accesses the main menu.

• Close: Clears on-screen displays and returns to TV viewing.

• Input List: Changes the input source.

The remote control for your LG 42LB550B-ZA has the following functions:

To automatically tune the programmes on your LG 42LB550B-ZA, follow these steps:

1. Go to SETTINGS → SETUP → Auto Tuning.

2. The TV will automatically tune the available programmes.

• If the Input Source is not connected properly, programme registration may not work.

• Auto Tuning only finds programmes that are currently broadcasting.

• If the Lock System is turned on, a pop-up window will appear asking for a password.

To select the picture mode optimized for your viewing environment or the programme, go to SETTINGS → PICTURE → Picture Mode. The available modes are:

• Vivid: Heightens contrast, brightness, and sharpness to display vivid images.

• Standard: Displays images in standard levels of contrast, brightness, and sharpness.

• Eco/APS: The Energy Saver feature changes settings on the TV to reduce power consumption.

• Cinema/Game: Displays the optimum picture for movies or games.

• Sports: Optimizes the video image for high and dynamic actions by emphasizing primary colours such as white, grass, or sky blue.

• Expert 1, 2: A menu for adjusting picture quality that allows experts and amateurs to enjoy the best TV viewing. This is the adjustment menu provided for ISF-certified picture tuning professionals.

Note: The available range of picture modes may differ depending on the input signal. The ISF function is only available on some models.

To reduce power consumption by adjusting screen brightness, go to SETTINGS → PICTURE → Energy Saving. The options are:

• Auto (Depending on model): The TV sensor detects the ambient lighting and automatically adjusts the screen brightness.

• Off: Turns off the Energy Saving mode.

• Minimum / Medium / Maximum: Applies the pre-set Energy Saving mode.

• Screen Off: The screen is turned off and only sound is played. Press any button except the Power button on the remote control to turn the screen back on.

You can configure the audio output of your LG 42LB550B-ZA by navigating to SETTINGS → AUDIO → Sound Out. You have several options:

• TV Speaker: Sound is output through the TV’s internal speakers.

• External Speaker (Optical): Sound is output through the speaker connected to the optical port. SimpLink is supported.

• LG Sound Sync (Optical): Connect an LG audio device with the Sound Sync logo to the optical digital audio output port for rich, powerful sound.

• Headphone: Sound is output through the headphones connected to the headphone port.

SIMPLINK is a feature that enables you to control and manage various multimedia devices conveniently via the SIMPLINK menu using your TV remote. This function is only compatible with devices with the SIMPLINK logo.

1. Connect the TV’s HDMI IN terminal and the SIMPLINK device’s HDMI output terminal using a high-speed HDMI® cable (with CEC feature added).

2. Select INPUT(OPTION) → SIMPLINK. The SIMPLINK menu window will appear.

3. In the SIMPLINK Setting window, set the SIMPLINK function to ON.

4. In the SIMPLINK menu window, select the device you want to control.

SIMPLINK function descriptions:

• Direct Play: Plays the multimedia device on the TV instantly.

• Select multimedia device: Selects the desired device via the SIMPLINK menu to control it from the TV screen instantly.

• Disc playback: Manages the multimedia device with the TV remote control.

• Power off all devices: When you power off the TV, all connected devices are turned off.

• Sync Power on: When the equipment with SIMPLINK function connected to the HDMI terminal starts to play, the TV will automatically turn on.

• Speaker: Select the speaker either on the home theatre unit or the TV.

To set or change the TV password, go to SETTINGS → LOCK → Set Password. The initial password is set to ‘0000’.

To reset your TV to its factory default settings, go to SETTINGS → OPTION → Factory Reset. All stored information will be deleted and TV settings will be reset. The TV will turn itself off and back on to complete the process.

Please note:

• If the Lock System is in place, a pop-up window will appear and ask for the password.

• Do not turn off the power during initialization.

To safely remove a USB storage device:

1. Press the Q.MENU button on your remote.

2. Select “USB Device”.

3. Select the USB storage device that you want to remove.

4. When you see a message that the USB device has been removed, you can separate the device from the TV.

Once a USB device has been selected for removal, it can no longer be read. To use it again, you must remove the USB storage device and then re-connect it.

When using a USB storage device with your LG 42LB550B-ZA, please be aware of the following:

• If the USB storage device has a built-in auto recognition program or uses its own driver, it may not work.

• Some USB storage devices may not work or may work incorrectly.

• Use only USB storage devices formatted with the Windows FAT32 or NTFS File System.

• For external USB HDDs, it is recommended that you use devices with a rated voltage of less than 5 V and a rated current of less than 500 mA.

• It is recommended that you use USB memory sticks of 32 GB or less and USB HDDs of 1 TB or less.

• If a USB HDD with a power-saving function does not work properly, turn the power off and on. For more information, refer to the user manual of the USB HDD.

• Data in the USB storage device can be damaged, so be sure to back up important files to other devices. Data maintenance is the user’s responsibility.

Clean your TV regularly to keep the best performance and to extend the product lifespan.

Initial Steps:

• Make sure to turn the power off and disconnect the power cord and all other cables first.

• When the TV is left unattended for a long time, disconnect the power cord to prevent damage from lightning or power surges.

Screen, frame, cabinet and stand:

• To remove dust or light dirt, wipe the surface with a dry, clean, and soft cloth.

• To remove major dirt, wipe the surface with a soft cloth dampened in clean water or a diluted mild detergent. Then wipe immediately with a dry cloth.

CAUTION:

• Avoid touching the screen at all times, as this may result in damage.

• Do not push, rub, or hit the screen surface with your fingernail or a sharp object, as this may result in scratches and image distortions.

• Do not use any chemicals as this may damage the product.

• Do not spray liquid onto the surface. If water enters the TV, it may result in fire, electric shock, or malfunction.

Power cord:

• Remove the accumulated dust or dirt on the power cord regularly.

• Check the remote control sensor on the product and try again.

• Check if there is any obstacle between the product and the remote control.

• Check if the batteries are still working and properly installed (positive to positive, negative to negative).

• Check if the product is turned on.

• Check if the power cord is connected to a wall outlet.

• Check if there is a problem in the wall outlet by connecting other products.

• Check the power control settings. The power supply may be interrupted.

• Check if the Automatic Standby (Depending on model) / Sleep Timer / Off Time feature is activated in the TIME settings.

• If there is no signal while the TV is on, the TV will turn off automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity.

• Turn the TV off and on again using the remote control.

• Reconnect the HDMI cable.

• Restart the PC with the TV on.
