How do I fix a Network Error on the KIDDE P4010ACSCO-W?

If you have a unit in network error, try the following fixes:

Fix 1:

1. Rotate the alarm on the mounting plate 90 degrees to re-orient the antenna.

2. Press and hold the button on a known working unit for 4-5 seconds until you hear 2 beeps.

3. Go to the unit in network error. Press and hold the button for 4-5 seconds until you hear 2 beeps.

4. Within 10 seconds, the error unit should re-join the network, show fading green lights, and announce “Success, now connected.”

5. If successful, press and hold the button on the same unit for 4-5 seconds until 2 beeps are heard to close the network.

Fix 2:

1. Go to a wireless unit closest to the center of the house.

2. Press and hold the button on that unit for 4-5 seconds until you hear 2 beeps and “Searching for other devices.”

3. Locate the Coordinator (fading green on/off every 2 seconds). Move the Coordinator to the center of the house.

4. Go to each unit in error and press/hold the button for 4-5 seconds until you hear 2 beeps. They should announce “Success, now connected.”

Fix 3:

1. Take all wireless units down.

2. Reset all units one by one by pressing and holding the button for 8-9 seconds until you hear 3 beeps and “Resetting wireless settings.”

3. Create a new network by pressing and holding the button on one unit for 4-5 seconds until 2 beeps (this becomes the Coordinator).

4. Wait for other units to join. After all have joined, press/hold button on Coordinator for 4-5 seconds.

5. Install the Coordinator closest to the center of the household.


How do I set up a wireless alarm network for the KIDDE P4010ACSCO-W?

A. Power Up: Turn the red wheel on the back of all devices to the “ON” position. Light rings will glow red and announce “Ready to connect.”

B. Pick One Device (Coordinator): Choose one unit to be the Coordinator. Press and hold the button on ONLY this unit until you hear two beeps. Release the button. It will announce “Searching for other devices” and emit a sonar ping.

C. Wait for Connection: Wait until all other devices (RFDs) connect. Once connected, each device will speak “Success now connected!” and lights will glow green.

D. Close Network: Press and hold the button on the Coordinator device for 5 seconds until you hear two beeps. The sonar ping will stop, and the device will announce setup is complete.

How do I reset the wireless settings on the KIDDE P4010ACSCO-W?

1. Press and hold the button on the device for 8-9 seconds until you hear 3 beeps.

2. Release the button. You will hear the words “Resetting wireless settings.”

3. The light ring will flash green once and then pulse red, followed by the words “Ready to connect, follow quick start instructions.”


What are the wiring requirements for the KIDDE P4010ACSCO-W?

The alarm should be installed on a UL Listed junction box using 120 Volt AC Single Phase power from a non-switchable circuit. A maximum of 24 Kidde Safety devices may be interconnected. The maximum wire run distance is 1000 feet.

Wiring Colors:

  • Black: Hot side of AC line
  • White: Neutral side of AC line
  • Red: Interconnect lines (red wires) of other units in the multiple station set-up. (Leave the insulating cap on if not hardwire interconnecting).

How do I test the KIDDE P4010ACSCO-W?

Test the alarm weekly by pressing and releasing the test button quickly. A quick beep will confirm the button has been pushed, followed by voice prompts. The alarm and voice (and any interconnected units) will sound. Always stand about 2.5 feet away from the unit or use ear protection when testing.


How does the Ambient Light Sensing work on the KIDDE P4010ACSCO-W?

This unit samples ambient light conditions to determine a Night/Day cycle. A valid Night/Day cycle will delay End of Unit Life or Network Error chirps during the night until the next Day cycle begins. Low Battery chirps cannot be silenced or delayed.


How do I clean the KIDDE P4010ACSCO-W?

You should clean the alarm at least once a year:

1. Use compressed air or a vacuum cleaner hose to blow or vacuum through the openings around the perimeter of the alarm.

2. Wipe the outside of the alarm with a damp cloth. Use only water; do not use detergents or cleaners.

3. Do not attempt to disassemble the unit.


How do I permanently disable and discharge the battery on the KIDDE P4010ACSCO-W?

The battery is sealed and non-replaceable. To permanently disable for disposal:

1. Rotate the alarm counterclockwise to remove it from the mounting plate.

2. Disconnect the AC wiring harness.

3. Push in the dashed area labeled “Break tab” with a screwdriver to break the tab.

4. Use the screwdriver to turn the red slotted arrow to the “Permanently Disable Alarm / Discharge Battery” location.

Note: This will disable the alarm, stop chirps, and render the alarm safe for disposal. It cannot be reactivated.
