Do not refreeze frozen foods which have thawed completely. The United States Department of Agriculture in Home and Garden Bulletin No. 69 states:

• You may safely refreeze frozen foods that have thawed if they still contain ice crystals or if they are still cold-below 39°F (4°C).

• Thawed ground meats, poultry, or fish that have any off-odor or off-color should not be refrozen and should not be eaten. Thawed ice cream should be discarded. If the odor or color of any food is poor or questionable, dispose of it. The food may be dangerous to eat.

• Even partial thawing and refreezing reduces the eating quality of foods, particularly fruits, vegetables, and prepared foods. The eating quality of red meats is affected less than that of many other foods. Use refrozen foods as soon as possible to save as much of their quality as you can.

Junked or abandoned refrigerators are dangerous. If you are getting rid of your old refrigerator, please follow these instructions to help prevent accidents like child entrapment and suffocation:

• Take off the doors.

• Leave the shelves in place so that children may not easily climb inside.

Additionally, your old refrigerator may have a cooling system that used CFCs or HCFCs. If you are throwing away your old refrigerator, make sure the refrigerant is removed for proper disposal by a qualified technician to prevent harm to the environment.

For personal safety, the KENMORE ELITE 795.7506 appliance must be properly grounded. Have the wall outlet and the circuit checked by a qualified electrician to make sure the outlet is properly grounded with a 3-prong grounding type wall receptacle.

Recommended Grounding Method:

The refrigerator should always be plugged into its own individual properly grounded electrical outlet rated for 115 Volts, 60 Hz, AC only, and fused at 15 or 20 amperes. This provides the best performance and prevents overloading house wiring circuits. It is recommended that a separate circuit serving only this appliance be provided.

Use a receptacle that cannot be turned off with a switch or pull chain. Do not use an extension cord.

The use of an extension cord is not recommended. However, if you must use one, it must be a UL-listed, 3-wire grounding type appliance extension cord with a grounding type plug and outlet. The electrical rating of the cord must be 15 amperes (minimum) and 120 volts. Using an extension cord will increase the clearance needed for the back of the refrigerator.

Before using your KENMORE ELITE 795.7506, remove tape and any temporary labels. Do not remove any warning-type labels, the model and serial number label, or the Tech Sheet located under the front of the refrigerator.

To remove any remaining tape or glue, rub the area briskly with your thumb. Tape or glue residue can also be easily removed by rubbing a small amount of liquid dish soap over the adhesive with your fingers. Wipe with warm water and dry.

Do not use sharp instruments, rubbing alcohol, flammable fluids, or abrasive cleaners to remove tape or glue, as these can damage the surface of your refrigerator.

The refrigerator shelves are installed in the shipping position. You should reinstall shelves according to your individual storage needs.

Follow these steps for proper installation of your KENMORE ELITE 795.7506:

Prior to Use:

1. Clean your refrigerator thoroughly to wipe off any dust that accumulated during shipping.

2. Install accessories like the ice bin, drawers, and shelves in their proper places. They are packed together to prevent damage during shipment.

3. Allow your refrigerator to run for at least two to three hours before putting food in it. Check the cold air flow in the freezer to ensure proper cooling.

Installation Location:

1. The unit must be leveled and installed on a solidly constructed floor to avoid noise and vibration. The front should be slightly higher than the rear to aid in door closing. Turn leveling legs to the left to raise or right to lower.

2. Install this appliance where the temperature is between 55°F (13°C) and 110°F (43°C). If the temperature is too low or high, cooling ability may be adversely affected.

3. Select a place where a water supply can be easily connected for the automatic icemaker. Water pressure must be between 20-120 psi.

4. Allow at least 24 inches (61 cm) in front of the refrigerator to open the doors and at least 2 inches (5.08 cm) between the back of the refrigerator and the wall.

To Remove the Refrigerator Handle:

1. Loosen the set screws with a 3/32 in. Allen wrench.

2. Remove the handle.

NOTE: If the handle mounting fasteners need to be tightened or removed, use a 1/4 in. Allen wrench.

To Replace the Refrigerator Handle:

1. Place the handle on the door by fitting the handle footprints over the mounting fasteners.

2. Tighten the set screws with a 3/32 in. Allen wrench.

To Remove the Freezer Drawer Handle:

1. Loosen the set screws located on the lower side of the handle with a 1/8 in. Allen wrench.

2. Remove the handle.

NOTE: If the handle mounting fasteners need to be tightened or removed, use a 1/4 in. Allen wrench.

To Replace the Freezer Drawer Handle:

1. Place the handle on the door by fitting the handle footprints over the mounting fasteners.

2. Tighten the set screws with a 1/8 in. Allen wrench.

Use two or more people to remove the doors. First, disconnect the electrical supply.

Removing the Left Door:

1. Remove the screw from the top hinge cover. Lift the hook at the bottom of the front side of the cover with a flat-head screwdriver to remove it.

2. The water supply is connected to the upper right part of the rear surface. Remove the clip in the joint area. Hold the water supply connection and gently push the collet to detach the water supply line.

3. Pull out the tube (2). Disconnect all wire harnesses (3). Unscrew the ground wire (4).

4. Rotate the hinge lever counterclockwise (5). Lift the top hinge (6) free of the hinge lever latch (7). Be careful that the door does not fall forward.

5. Lift the door from the middle hinge pin and remove the door. Place it on a nonscratching surface, inside facing up.

Removing the Right Door:

1. Detach all the wire harnesses (1) from the top hinge.

2. Rotate the hinge lever (2) clockwise. Lift the top hinge (3) free of the hinge lever latch (4). Be careful that the door does not fall forward.

3. Lift the door from the middle hinge pin and remove it. Place it on a nonscratching surface, inside facing up.

Replacing the Right Door (Install this door first):

1. Make sure the plastic sleeve is inserted in the bottom of the door. Install the door onto the middle hinge.

2. Fit the hinge (1) over the hinge lever latch (2) and slot it into place. Rotate the lever (3) counterclockwise to secure the hinge.

3. Connect all the wire harnesses (4).

Replacing the Left Door:

1. Make sure the plastic sleeve is inserted in the bottom of the door. Install the door onto the middle hinge.

2. Fit the hinge (1) over the hinge lever latch (2) and slot it into place. Rotate the lever (3) counterclockwise to secure the hinge.

3. Connect all the wire harnesses and the ground screw.

4. Push the water supply lines into the hole on the top case and pull it through the backplate.

5. Hold the water supply connection and gently push in the collet (4) to connect the water supply line. Insert the tube at least 5/8 in. (15 mm) into the connector. Insert the clip on the joint to fasten the tube in place.

Replacing the Hinge Cover:

Position the hinge cover in its place. Insert and tighten the cover screws.

How to Remove the Freezer Drawer:

1. Pull the drawer open to full extension.

2. Remove the Durabase basket (1) by lifting the basket from the rail system.

3. Remove the screws (2) from the rail on both sides.

4. Grasp the drawer on each side and pull it up to separate it from the rails.

5. With both hands, slide the bars in simultaneously.

How to Install the Freezer Drawer:

1. Pull out each rail to full extension.

2. Grasp the drawer on each side and hook drawer supports (1) into rail tabs (2) located on both sides.

3. Lower the door into its final position and tighten the screws (3) located on both sides.

4. With the drawer pulled out to full extension, insert the Durabase basket (4) in the rail assembly.

Leveling:

Your refrigerator has two front leveling legs. To adjust the tilt:

1. Turn the leveling leg to the left to raise that side of the refrigerator or to the right to lower it. It may take several turns to adjust the tilt.

2. Open both doors and check that they close easily. If not, tilt the refrigerator slightly more to the rear by turning both leveling legs to the left. Turn both legs the same amount.

Door Alignment:

If the space between your doors is uneven, follow these instructions:

• Left Door: The left door has an adjustable nut on the bottom hinge. Use the included wrench to turn the nut to the right to raise the door or to the left to lower it.

• Right Door: The right door does not have an adjustable nut. To align it:

1. With one hand, lift up both the inner and outer door sections of the right door to raise them at the middle hinge.

2. With the other hand, use pliers to insert a snap ring on the middle hinge of the inner door section. Do not insert the ring on the hinge of the outer door section.

3. Insert additional snap rings (two are provided) until the right door is aligned.

Temperature Controls:

• Refrigerator Temp Control: The range is from 33°F to 43°F (1°C to 7°C). Press the refrigerator temp button to cycle through the settings one increment at a time.

• Freezer Temp Control: The range is from -7°F to 5°F (-23°C to -15°C). Press the freezer temp button to cycle through the settings one increment at a time.

NOTE: After changing settings, wait 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize before making more adjustments.

Airflow:

Be sure not to block air vents when packing your refrigerator. Restricted airflow can cause the refrigerator to become too warm or cause moisture buildup.

Dispenser:

The dispenser provides water, cubed ice, or crushed ice. Press the icon for your choice: (1) water, (2) cubed ice, or (3) crushed ice. The icon will illuminate when selected. The dispenser will not work if a door is open or if the Control Lock is engaged.

• Air Filter: Helps remove odors. It cycles on for ten minutes and off for 110 minutes. When the ‘Change’ icon turns on, replace the air filter. To reset the light, press and hold the Air Filter button for three seconds. It’s recommended to change the filter every 6 months.

• Accela Ice: This function increases ice making and freezing capabilities. Press the Accela Ice button to turn it on; the LED will light up. The function automatically shuts off after 24 hours or can be stopped manually by pressing the button again.

• Water Filter Reset: When the ‘CHANGE’ icon for the water filter turns on, you need to replace it. After replacement, press and hold the Water Filter button for three seconds to turn off the light. It’s recommended to change the water filter every six months.

• Control Lock: To lock the control panel and dispenser, press and hold the Control Lock button for 3 seconds until the LED turns on. To unlock, press and hold the button until the LED turns off.

• Demo Mode (For Store Use Only): This disables cooling. To deactivate, with either refrigerator door open, press the Accela Ice button 3 times consecutively while pressing the Refrigerator Temp button. The control panel will beep and display temperature settings to confirm deactivation.

• Temperature Mode Switch (°F to °C): Press and hold the Freezer Temp and Refrigerator Temp buttons simultaneously for about five seconds to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius.

In-Door Ice Bin:

• To open or close the ice compartment, pull or push the door handle.

• To remove the ice bin, grip the front handle, slightly lift the lower part, and slowly pull the bin out.

• To reinstall, slightly slant the bin to avoid contact with the icemaker and push it back in.

• Avoid touching the auto shutoff (feeler arm) when replacing the bin.

The icemaker stops when the bin is full. If ice becomes uneven, shake the bin to level it. Do not store cans or other items in the ice bin. Keep the compartment door closed tightly to prevent food in the refrigerator from freezing.

In-Door Icemaker:

• The icemaker produces 70-182 cubes in a 24-hour period.

• It takes 12 to 24 hours for a new refrigerator to start making ice, and 72 hours for full production.

• When full, the bin holds about 6 to 8 glasses of ice.

• Use the Accela Ice function to increase ice production.

Freezer Icemaker:

• This automatic icemaker produces 12 cubes at a time, or 50-110 pieces in a 24-hour period under favorable conditions.

• Ice production stops when the ice bin is full.

• The icemaker starts producing ice approximately 48 hours after initial installation. Discard the first ice cubes produced.

You should set the icemaker ON/OFF button to OFF in the following situations:

• When the water supply will be shut off for several hours.

• When the ice bin is removed for more than one or two minutes.

• When the refrigerator will not be used for several days.

NOTE: The ice bin should be emptied when the icemaker on/off button is set to the OFF mode.

Wrap or store food in airtight and moisture-proof material unless otherwise noted to prevent odor and taste transfer.

Freezing:

Do not put more unfrozen food into the freezer than will freeze within 24 hours (no more than 2 to 3 lbs. of food per cubic foot of freezer space). Leave enough space for air to circulate around packages and for the door to close tightly. Allow hot foods to cool at room temperature for 30 minutes before packaging and freezing.

Packaging:

Successful freezing depends on correct packaging that does not allow air or moisture in or out. Recommended packaging includes:

• Rigid plastic containers with tight-fitting lids

• Straight-sided canning/freezing jars

• Heavy-duty aluminum foil

• Plastic-coated paper

• Non-permeable plastic wraps

• Specified freezer-grade self-sealing plastic bags

Do not use:

• Bread wrappers

• Non-polyethylene plastic containers

• Containers without tight lids

• Wax paper or wax-coated freezer wrap

• Thin, semi-permeable wrap

Adjusting Refrigerator Shelves:

• To remove a shelf: Tilt up the front of the shelf (1) and lift it from below (2). Pull the shelf out.

• To reinstall a shelf: Tilt the front of the shelf up and guide the shelf hooks into the slots at the desired height. Then, lower the front of the shelf so the hooks drop into the slots.

Folding Shelf (on some models):

To store taller items, push the front half of the shelf underneath the back half. Pull the front of the shelf toward you to return it to a full shelf.

Humidity Controlled Crisper:

• Set the control between VEGETABLES (keeps moist air in) and FRUIT (lets moist air out).

• To remove: Pull out the crisper to full extension, lift the front up, and pull straight out.

• To install: Slightly tilt the front up, insert the crisper into the frame, and push it back into place.

Door Bin:

• To remove: Simply lift the bin up and pull straight out.

• To replace: Slide it in above the desired support and push down until it snaps into place.

It is recommended that you replace the air filter approximately every six months, or when the CHANGE AIR FILTER light turns on.

1. Remove the Old Filter: Turn the filter cover to the left to detach it from the refrigerator wall. The filter is located on the inside of the filter cover. Remove the filter from the cover.

2. Install a New Air Filter: Place the new filter inside of the cover with the side that says “Front” facing outward. Turn the filter cover to the right to attach it to the refrigerator wall.

After changing the filter, push and hold the Air Filter button for three seconds to reset the filter sensor.

Freezer Ice Bin:

1. Pull the Freezer Drawer and the top Pullout Drawer out as far as possible.

2. Gently lift and pull out the ice bin.

Top Pullout Drawer:

1. Pull the drawer out to full extension. On the left rail, use a flat blade screwdriver to push in on the tab to release the drawer from the rail. Once the left side is loose, push the tab on the right side with your finger to release the drawer.

2. Lift the front of the drawer up, then pull it straight out.

Middle Drawer:

1. Pull the drawer out to full extension. Lift the front of the drawer up, then pull it straight out.

Durabase:

1. Push the Durabase to the back as much as possible. Tilt up the front of the Durabase and pull straight out.

It is recommended to replace the water filter approximately every six months, when the indicator turns on, when water output decreases, or when ice cubes are smaller than normal.

1. Remove the old water filter: Lift up and remove the lower door bin. Swing the right end of the water filter out of the compartment. Grasp and rotate the filter counterclockwise to remove it from the filter head. Place a cup under the filter head to catch any water that may drain.

2. Replace with a new water filter: Insert the new filter into the filter head and rotate it clockwise until the arrow on the new filter lines up with the arrow on the filter head. Swing the filter back into the compartment. Assemble the door bin.

3. Flush the system: After replacing the filter, dispense 2.5 gallons of water (flush for approximately 5 minutes) to remove trapped air and contaminants. Do not dispense the entire amount continuously; use cycles of 30 seconds ON and 60 seconds OFF.

4. Reset the indicator: Press and hold the Water Filter button for 3 seconds to reset the indicator.

Both the refrigerator and freezer sections defrost automatically. Clean both sections about once a month to prevent odors and wipe up spills immediately.

General Cleaning Tips:

• Unplug the refrigerator or disconnect power.

• Remove all removable parts like shelves and crispers.

• Use a clean sponge or soft cloth and a mild detergent in warm water. Do not use abrasive or harsh cleaners.

• Hand wash, rinse, and dry all surfaces thoroughly.

When You Go On Vacation:

If leaving the refrigerator ON:

1. Use up any perishables and freeze other items.

2. Turn off the icemakers and empty the ice bins.

If turning the refrigerator OFF:

1. Remove all food.

2. Set the thermostat control to OFF.

3. Clean, wipe, and dry the refrigerator well.

4. Tape rubber or wood blocks to the tops of both doors to prop them open, allowing air to get in and preventing odor and mold.

When You Move:

1. Remove all food and pack all frozen food in dry ice.

2. Unplug the refrigerator.

3. Clean, wipe, and dry it thoroughly.

4. Take out all removable parts, wrap them well, and tape them together so they do not shift and rattle.

5. Raise the front of the refrigerator so it rolls more easily OR screw in the leveling legs all the way so they do not scrape the floor.

6. Tape the doors shut and tape the power cord to the refrigerator cabinet.
