How do I install the JABLOTRON JA-154E access module?

The device should be installed by a trained technician with a valid certificate issued by an authorised distributor. The basic procedure is as follows:

1. Press the four tabs on the sides one by one to release the module from the plastic base.

2. If installing more control segments, first remove the socket cover on the 1st segment.

3. Remove the transparent plastic cover from the segments by levering on both sides near the buttons.

4. Connect the segment wires to the connector of the previous segment and click them into each other. It is recommended to coil the wires by turning the segment 360° to prevent damage. Install all required segments this way and then push the socket cover in.

5. Insert four 1.5 V alkaline AA batteries into the module.

6. Attach the base to the selected place along with the segments using screws. If multiple control segments are required, attach them to the wall with screws as well.

7. Insert the module into the base.

8. Proceed according to the control panel installation manual for enrollment:

a. A JA-110R radio module must be installed in the control panel with a reliable communication range.

b. When batteries are inserted, the yellow backlit activation button will light permanently, indicating the module is not yet enrolled.

c. Go to the F-Link software, select the required position in the Devices window, and launch enrollment mode by clicking the Enroll option.

d. Press the backlit activation button. The module will be enrolled, and the yellow LED indicator will go off. An enrollment signal can also be sent by inserting the batteries.

9. After installation, insert descriptive labels behind the transparent segment covers and close them. Label printing is part of the F-Link software.

Notes:

The module can also be enrolled by entering its production code in the F-Link software or using a bar code scanner. All numbers under the bar code must be entered.

To comply with the EN 50131-3 norm, it is necessary to fix the cover tabs with the screws from the accessories.

How do I configure the settings for the JABLOTRON JA-154E?

To configure the JABLOTRON JA-154E, go to the Devices window in the F-Link software. At the module’s position, select the Internal settings option. This will display the unit’s properties, which are separated into two basic tabs: Segments and Settings.

In these tabs, you can set the required functions for individual segments, such as control of sections, section status signalling, alarm triggering, PG output control, PG output status signalling, and more.

In the Settings tab, you can configure other module functions like acoustic signalling, backlight intensity, RFID reader mode, optical and acoustic indication, and LCD display settings. Detailed information about these settings can be found in the installation manual of the control panel and in the tooltips displayed by the F-Link software.

What is the “Common segment” function on the JABLOTRON JA-154E and how do I set it up?

A common segment (up to 2 allowed on one module) simulates the simultaneous pressing of several segments on the module that control sections. To set it up:

1. In the F-Link software, go to the Devices tab at the keypad position.

2. Select the Segments tab and choose the specific segment function called Common segment A (B).

3. In the new tab that appears, Common segment, select the segments that will be operated together.

Note: A module must be equipped with a minimum of 3 segments for this function to be available.

The selected sections will all be set/unset after pressing a button on the common segment. If partial setting is enabled for some segments, the first press will partially set, and the second press will fully set. It is not suitable to combine a common segment with a common section.

The indication for the common segment is as follows:

• Green: all segments unset

• Yellow: some set (partially set)

• Red: all sections fully set

How does the battery power save mode work on the JABLOTRON JA-154E?

The JABLOTRON JA-154E saves energy by shutting down the optical indication of system status, the LCD display backlight, and the RFID reader 8 seconds after a button, segment, or keypad cover has been pressed. The module continues to communicate with the control panel and can signal events like an entrance delay. To fully wake up the module, press the cover of the module or press any button.

Can the JABLOTRON JA-154E be powered by an external power supply?

Yes, the JABLOTRON JA-154E can be powered from an external 12 V DC power supply via the PWR and GND terminals. Using an external supply allows the module to permanently communicate with the control panel and indicate the system status according to its internal settings. It is recommended to leave the batteries inside the module during alternative powering. If the mains power is cut off, the module will automatically switch to battery power. The batteries are not charged by the external power supply.

How do I connect an external door detector to the JABLOTRON JA-154E?

The JABLOTRON JA-154E has an input terminal (IN) for connecting an external door detector. The input reacts to disconnection from the common ground (GND). The reaction of this input is programmable using the F-Link software and has a status reaction.

How should I replace the batteries in the JABLOTRON JA-154E?

The module automatically checks the battery status. When a Low Batt status is reported, the batteries should be changed within 2 weeks. Before changing the batteries, the system must first be switched to SERVICE mode to prevent a tamper alarm from being triggered. For best performance, it is strongly recommended to use only batteries supplied by Jablotron’s authorized distribution.

How do I add or remove segments on the JABLOTRON JA-154E?

If you need to change the segments (add or remove), first release them by levering on both sides of the segment near the buttons. Always remove the batteries and disconnect any external power supply before making changes. After you have finished changing the segments, the new segments are automatically synchronized and recognized by the system. They will be visible in the F-Link software, highlighted in blue.

What do the optical indications on the JABLOTRON JA-154E mean?

Activation button:

• No light: Sleep mode

• Green light: Everything OK

• Green flashes: Authorisation performed

• Red flashes: Alarm

• Yellow light: Fault / not enrolled to the system

• Yellow double flash: Service mode

Note: The activation button does not indicate module tamper or INP input activation in Service mode.

Segments:

Segments do not provide indication when Service mode is entered or when the segment function is set to None. The optical indication logic of a PG segment can be inverted.

What are the available optical indication levels for the JABLOTRON JA-154E?

The module can be preset to the following 6 indication levels:

1. Indicates permanently: Wireless modules indicate permanently only if an external power supply is connected. Without external power, it indicates the same as option 2. When mains power is restored, indication becomes permanent again.

2. Section/PG status change on keypad: The module indicates when the section/PG status has been changed. The status change is indicated on the specific segment. Entrance delays and alarms are indicated by the whole module.

3. Section/PG status change on segment: The module indicates when a section/PG output status has been changed. A segment status change, an entrance delay, and an alarm are indicated on a specific segment.

4. Segment status change on keypad: The module indicates when the status of a segment has been changed (setting, unsetting, PG ON, PG OFF). The change is indicated only on the specific segment.

5. Entrance delays / alarms on segment: The module indicates entrance delays and alarms on a specific segment.

6. Wake-up by pressing: The module indicates optically and acoustically after the front cover has been opened and when a button or segment has been pressed. This setting ensures maximum battery lifetime.

How does the acoustic indication on the JABLOTRON JA-154E work?

The acoustic indication can be set regardless of the keypad’s optical indication and sleep mode. The module can indicate entrance/exit delays or alarms. During a valid authorization (by user code or RFID card), the acoustic indication of the exit delay is suppressed. Pressing the indication button mutes the module permanently. Entrance delays and alarms are indicated until their times expire, but only if the activation button is not pressed.

How do I upgrade the firmware on the JABLOTRON JA-154E?

Firmware upgrades can only be done by a Service technician using F-Link software. The steps are:

1. Start F-Link (in online or offline mode) and open the appropriate installation database.

2. Open the module by pressing on the tabs, remove the batteries, and disconnect any external power supply.

3. Connect the miniUSB cable to the USB port on the PC. You can use the cable from the JA-190T card reader.
