To protect your privacy and personal data on your HMD 102 4G, you can set the phone to ask for a security code. Select Menu > Settings > Security > Keyguard > Security code and enter a code. Please note that you must remember this code, as HMD Global cannot open or bypass it.

Yes, parts of your HMD 102 4G are magnetic. Metallic materials may be attracted to the device. To prevent damage, do not place credit cards or other magnetic stripe cards near the device for extended periods of time.

To set up your HMD 102 4G, follow these steps:

1. Open the back cover: Place your fingernail in the small slot at the bottom of the phone, then lift and remove the cover.

2. If the battery is in the phone, take it out.

3. Insert the nano-SIM card(s): Slide the SIM card into the SIM card slot. If you have a dual-SIM phone, slide the second SIM into the SIM2 slot.

4. Insert the memory card: Slide a compatible memory card (up to 32 GB microSD) into the memory card slot.

5. Put back the battery.

6. Put back the back cover.

7. Switch on your phone: Press and hold the power key.

Important: This device is designed to be used with a nano-SIM card only. Use of incompatible SIM cards may damage the card or the device, and may corrupt data stored on the card.

To charge the battery of your HMD 102 4G:

1. Plug the charger into a wall outlet.

2. Connect the charger to the device using the USB-C cable.

Once your device is fully charged, unplug the charger first from the device, then from the power socket to avoid overcharging. It is recommended to not let the charge drop below 20%.

If the battery is completely discharged, it may take several minutes before the charging indicator is displayed.

Follow these instructions to use the keypad on your HMD 102 4G:

Navigating Menus:

• To see your phone’s apps and features, select Menu on the home screen.

• To go to an app or feature, press the scroll key up, down, left, or right. To open it, press the scroll key.

Locking the Keypad:

• To lock the keypad, select the left selection key and then Lock keypad.

• To unlock, press the power/end key, and select Unlock.

Typing:

• Press a number key repeatedly until the desired letter is shown.

• To enter a space, press 0.

• To type a special character or punctuation mark, select the options key (≡) > Insert options > Insert symbol.

• To switch between character cases, press # repeatedly.

• To type a number, press and hold a number key.

To make a call:

1. Type in the phone number. To type the + character for international calls, press * twice.

2. Press the call key. If asked, select which SIM to use.

3. To end the call, press the end key.

To answer a call:

Press the call key.

To add a contact on your HMD 102 4G:

1. Select Menu > Contacts > ≡ > New.

2. Select where to save the contact.

3. Select Last name, write the name, and select the confirmation option.

4. Select First name, write the name, and select the confirmation option.

5. Select Mobile or Home number, type in the number, and select the confirmation option.

6. Select the save option.

1. Select Menu > Call logs, and select the call type.

2. Scroll to the number you want to save, select ≡ > Add to contacts.

3. Select either Add to new contact to create a new contact, or Add to existing contact to add the number to a contact in your contacts list.

4. Select where to save the contact.

5. Add the contact details and select the save option.

1. Select Menu > Messages > Create message.

2. Write your message.

3. To insert numbers or symbols, select ≡ > Insert options > Insert number or Insert symbol.

4. Select ≡ > Send. If asked, select which SIM to use.

5. Type in a phone number, or select Search and a recipient from your contacts list.

6. Select OK.

You can personalise your HMD 102 4G in several ways:

Set new tones:

1. Select Menu > Settings > Tone settings > Ring settings.

2. Select which tone you want to change.

3. Select Fixed ringtones for pre-defined tones, or More ringtones to select a tone from your phone or memory card.

4. Scroll to the tone you want and select Select.

Choose a new wallpaper:

1. Select Menu > Settings > Display > Wallpaper settings.

2. Select Static wallpaper for pre-defined wallpapers, or More pictures to select a picture from your phone or memory card.

3. Scroll to the wallpaper you want and select Select.

Set a profile (e.g., silent, outdoor):

1. Select Menu > Settings > Profiles.

2. To adjust a profile, scroll to it and select ≡ > Add. Change the settings you want.

3. To activate a profile, scroll to it, and select Select.

The shortcuts on the bottom left of your home screen are for ‘Go to settings’. To edit them:

1. Select Menu > Settings > Phone settings > Go to settings.

2. Select Select options.

3. Scroll to each shortcut you want to have on the list and select Mark.

4. Select the back key > Yes to save the changes.

To reorganise the list:

1. Select Organise.

2. Scroll to the item you want to move, select Move and where you want to move it.

3. Select the back key > Yes to save the changes.

Change the menu view:

You can choose to see several apps at once or only one app at a time.

1. Select Menu > Settings > Display > Menu display.

2. Select Zoomed to see only one app at a time. Scroll up or down to move between the apps.

3. To go back to the standard view, select Standard.

Increase the text size:

If you have trouble reading the text on the phone display, select Menu > Settings > Display > Text size > Large.

To save power on your HMD 102 4G, use network connections selectively:

• Switch Bluetooth on only when needed.

• Use a Wi-Fi connection to connect to the internet, rather than a mobile data connection, if applicable.

• If you don’t want to make or receive calls, switch the aeroplane mode on. Aeroplane mode closes connections to the mobile network and switches your device’s wireless features off.

Set the time and date manually:

1. Select Menu > Settings > Phone settings > Time & date.

2. Select Update time settings and switch Auto update time off.

Set an alarm:

1. Select Menu > Alarm.

2. Select ≡ > Add and enter the alarm time and other details.

3. Select the save option.

Add a calendar event:

1. Select Menu > Extras > Calendar.

2. Scroll to a date and select ≡ > Add new schedule.

3. Enter the event details, and select the save option.

Use the calculator:

1. Select Menu > Extras > Calculator.

2. Enter the first factor of your calculation, use the scroll key to select the operation, and enter the second factor.

3. Press the scroll key to get the result of the calculation.

4. Select the clear option to empty the number fields.

Take a photo:

1. Select Menu > Camera.

2. To take a photo, press the scroll key.

To see the photo you just took, on the home screen, select Menu > Gallery.

Record a video:

1. To switch to the video camera, select Menu > Camera and scroll right.

2. To start recording, press the scroll key.

3. To stop recording, select the stop option.

To see the video you just recorded, on the home screen, select Menu > Videos.

Keep a safe distance when using the flash. Do not use the flash on people or animals at close range. Do not cover the flash while taking a photo.

1. Select Menu > Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.

2. Switch Bluetooth on.

3. Select Devices found > Add new device.

4. Scroll to the found device and select Pair. If asked, confirm the passcode.

You can listen to your MP3 music files with the music player. To play music, you need to store the music files on a memory card.

1. Select Menu > Music.

2. To start playing music, press the scroll key.

To adjust the volume, scroll up or down.

You can restore the original factory settings, but be careful, as this reset removes all data you have saved in the phone’s memory and all of your personalisation. If you are disposing of your phone, note that you are responsible for removing all private content.

To reset your HMD 102 4G to its original settings and to remove all your data, on the home screen, type in *#7370#. If asked, enter your security code.

The maximum transmit power for the HMD 102 4G on supported networks are:

• GSM 850, 900: 35 dBm

• GSM 1800: 32 dBm

• LTE 1, 3, 5, 8, 28, 38, 39, 40, 41 (120MHz): 25 dBm

• Bluetooth 2400-2483.5 MHz: 8.88

To place an emergency call on any screen, press key number 5 for 4 seconds.

Alternatively:

1. Press the end key repeatedly, until the home screen is shown.

2. Type in the official emergency number for your present location. Emergency call numbers vary by location.

3. Press the call key.

4. Give the necessary information as accurately as possible. Do not end the call until given permission to do so.

Before making the call:

• Switch the phone on.

• If the phone screen and keys are locked, unlock them.

• Move to a place with adequate signal strength.

Important: Connections in all conditions cannot be guaranteed. Never rely solely on any wireless phone for essential communications like medical emergencies.

Handle your HMD 102 4G, battery, charger, and accessories with care. The following suggestions help you keep your device operational:

• Keep the device dry. Precipitation, humidity, and all types of liquids or moisture can contain minerals that corrode electronic circuits. If your device gets wet, remove the battery and let the device dry.

The rechargeable battery in your HMD 102 4G can be charged and discharged hundreds of times, but it will eventually wear out. When the talk and standby times are noticeably shorter than normal, you should replace the battery. To replace the battery, follow HMD’s self-repair instructions or take the device to the nearest authorised service facility.
