Step 2. To maintain the safety provided by the instrument enclosure, the instrument enclosure covers must be installed and secured with the supplied hardware.

Step 4. Place the battery into the compartment and replace the cover, tightening the three screws to secure it.

To change the language: Push Settings and then Language. Select the applicable language from the menu.
To change the date and time: Select Settings, then Meter, then Date and Time. Use the arrow keys to select the format for the date and time and then enter the current time and date information. The current data will be shown on the display and on logged measurement data.
How do I use an Operator ID and Site ID on the HACH SL1000?
Operator ID: Push Main Menu and select Operator ID. You can set the mode to on or off, select an ID from a list, create a new ID name, or delete an existing ID.
Site ID: Push Main Menu and select Site ID. Options include:
Mode: Set to manual, auto, off, or routes.
Select: Choose an ID from the list. If Show is set to Yes, you can use the RIGHT or LEFT arrows on the measurement screen to toggle between sites.
Create: Add a new site ID.
Delete: Erase an existing site ID (must be in Manual mode to delete).
Show: Set to on to display the site ID on the measurement screen.
Routes: Supplies an ordered list of site IDs.
Notes: Record special information to an event log.
How do I perform a Chemkey measurement with the HACH SL1000?
Step 1. Set the meter power to on.
Step 2. If complete traceability is necessary, enter a site ID and operator ID before measurement.
Step 3. Push the applicable Chemkeys fully, in one movement, into the slots. Always use a new Chemkey for each measurement. Do not move or touch the Chemkey once it is in a slot.
Step 4. Prepare the sample cup. If using the multi-sample cup for four samples, fill the large compartment to the fill-line (19 mL) with tap water for the detector to operate, and fill each individual sample compartment to the fill-line (3 to 5 mL) with sample water.
Step 5. Put the HACH SL1000 into the sample cup.
Step 6. Wait for the sound alert and/or the meter removal animation (within 1 to 2 seconds), then immediately remove the meter from the sample cup.
Step 7. Put the meter back into the case and wait until the measurement is completed. A progress bar will show the remaining time.
Step 8. Fully rinse the sample cup with deionized water after use.
How do I perform probe measurements with the HACH SL1000?
Step 1. Calibrate the probes before initial use. For best accuracy, calibrate probes daily.
Step 2. Ensure the date and time in the HACH SL1000 are correct before the probe is attached.
Step 3. Remove the probe connector port caps and attach the probe(s) to the M12 connectors.
Step 4. Rinse the sample flasks with sample water.
Step 5. Fill the sample flask so that the sensor is fully submerged.
Step 6. Put the probe(s) into the sample flasks and push Read if the measurement mode is set to Press to Read. Measurement values will be shown on the display.
How do I calibrate and verify probes on the HACH SL1000?
Calibration: Connect the probe, push Main Menu and select Calibrate. Select the applicable probe and follow the instructions shown on the display. For ISE probes, measure standards from low concentration to high concentration.
Verification: Push Main Menu and select Verification. Select the applicable device and follow the on-screen instructions. To change the verification standard, navigate to Main Menu > Settings > Probe > [Select Probe] > Verification Options > Standard.
How do I import data from the HACH SL1000 to Excel?
Step 1. Set the meter power to on.
Step 2. Connect the HACH SL1000 with a USB cable to a computer. The meter shows as a drive named Hach Portable Parallel Analysis.
Step 3. Open the DataTemplate folder from the drive and open the LogTemplate.xltx file.
Step 4. Right click on cell A2 and select XML and then Import.
Step 5. Select all log files from the Data folder on the HACH SL1000 drive and click Import.
