What is the description and intended purpose of the GREENLEE 35887 Load Cell?

The GREENLEE 35887 Load Cell is a liquid-filled pressure gauge intended to check the relief valve setting of Greenlee and Greenlee Fairmont crimpers like models 1984, 1985 and the line of low pressure hydraulic crimpers.

What safety warnings should be observed when using the GREENLEE 35887?

Keep hands away from closing dies. Failure to observe this warning could result in an injury. Additionally, a person who has not read and does not understand all operating instructions is not qualified to operate this tool. Failure to read and understand safety instructions could result in injury or death.

What steps should be taken before operating the GREENLEE 35887?

Before using this load cell, read and understand the manual supplied with your crimper. Ensure you read and understand the material in the instruction manual before operating or servicing the equipment.

How do I operate the GREENLEE 35887 Load Cell?

1. Disconnect crimper from the hydraulic power source.

2. Remove crimping dies from the crimper.

3. Install the test dies.

4. Connect crimper to a hydraulic power source.

5. Position the load cell so that the pressure pad is centered between the test dies.

6. Activate the crimper.

7. Continue to operate the crimper while monitoring the gauge on the load cell. Note the reading on the gauge when the relief valve activates. Make five consecutive tests and record all of the readings.

8. See the manual supplied with your crimper for the proper relief valve pressure range. If the highest pressure displayed by the load cell is outside of this range, adjust the relief valve setting as described in the crimper manual or send the crimper to an authorized service station for adjustment.

How do I identify the proper pressure ranges on the GREENLEE 35887 gauge face?

The gauge face indicates specific range sectors for checking pressure. It displays a 12T Range Sector intended for the 1984 Crimper and a 14T Range Sector intended for the 1985 Crimper.
